Got two things. A durian cake with very little durian in it and a large fruit tart. The fruit tart was solid as a rock and the cream was not so tasty

They are my favorite! So sweet and always working. They do have Wednesday’s off but this bakery is sooo delicious. Nothing fancy when it comes to the décor but who’s judging. This is Chinatown. The food is fresh and delicious. The almond croissant is my favorite but all the croissants are perfect. The coffee of course is amazing.

I just ran in there and bought a curried beef turnover, a chicken thigh pot pie and a giant almond cookie for $ 4.50. The bakery lady was nice, the pastries were all delicious and I will definitely go back next time I’m in Chinatown. It was cash only, no credit cards accepted.

Should’ve known not to have such high expectations LOL, this isn’t like the dozen bakeries back home. ordered the coconut bun which wasn’t soft nor enough filling, and not sweet enough. egg tart a bit better. in Chinatown. $ 1.20 each.

I walked into this bakery on whim before dinner and found they had so many flavors for the yule log. They had coconut, mango, lemon, and durian!.I bought one durian yule log and while eating it, noticed there were chunks of durian. EXCITEMENT! I have yet to try other flavors, but knowing there is durian yule log AND cake made me explode with happiness. I was so happy, I share with my sister and she wanted me to bring her one. I hope it sits well in my suitcase. There were also an assortment of Chinese buns, including my favorite coconut cream bun and cha siu bao. Unfortunately, the dough for the cha siu bao was too thin and the cha siu flavor wasn’t as good as a few others I’ve tried. Nonetheless, the sponge cake had the right flavor and the top was perfectly golden brown with a bit of sprinkled sugar. I’d have to say their sponge cake is my favorite in Seattle.

the owners are very good to our family and all our friends and relatives love their cakes. they make the cakes a little less sweet for us and everyone really enjoys their product. there are lots of other treats in their shop. give them a try and support the local businesses. people are super friendly.

I have been researching the best flan and custard pudding in town. I think they make the best pudding in town. It is small and they use aluminum cup nothing fancy but caramel souce has righ conversation of bitterness and sweet. Not too much egg York just about right amount. A lady there at the counter is a little pushy to sell more like right after you order she goes«…And then? And then?» She used to say«anything else?» But now endless«…and then?» Till you buy 10 – 15 cakes. I would recommend just custard pudding nothing else.

I went in here Twice During my Stay in Seattle. Both Times went with the Mango Cake. It was absolutely Delicious. Moist and packed with Mango and held up on the bumpy ride back to Capitol hill where I was staying. I needed a plastic bag and despite the Ordinance in Seattle he gave me one anyway. I love this place.

I stopped by here one morning when I was on my way to the chiropractor next door. I ordered the raspberry croissant. It was quite tasty. It had just the right amount of rapsberry filling, and the croissant breading was flaky and moist. Prices were reasonable, and service was prompt and friendly. I’d stop by again if/when I’m in the neighborhood and craving something sweet.

My friend had celebrated their birthday and their cake was from Sweet & Fresh Bakery. They had ordered the Napoleon cake, which is yummy. When I ordered it, it was not even close to how it tasted like at my friend’s birthday. The cake was stale and dry. There were even cracks on the edge of the cake before it was even cut. We had decided to give it a second try. This time requesting that the cake should be fresh and less dry. It turned out to be the same but there were more cream than the napoleon cake.

Great bakery and very fast and attention to detail! Was very happy for the 1 day short notice for my cake order. I got the 8″ fruit topping cake with purple trim! Only $ 20 and was amazingly tasty, not too sweet. I will definitely word of mouth and give as much internet pub for them!

Even though I lived in America for a 2⁄3 of my life, I still like Chinese birthday cake then American’s one(As in Costco Style). Of coz, Chinese birthday cake can’t compare to Cheesecakes, but I think Chinese cake have it own style and my favorite one is always their chestnut. I bought a birthday cake here for a friend today, they have friendly service, and custom made birthday cake. I got a Strawberry Crème Cake with alot of cremes on… so if we cannot finish the cake, we can still have crème fight!!! LOL … I bought a 10′ with 2 numbers candles, it cost be about $ 31 dollars, I think this is an acceptable price. no extra pricey. For those who like BBQ pork bun or Chinese Pastry, this may be a good stop for you to shop some before you head out for camping or picnic. I got recommended by a Viet friend and it didn’t disappoint us, I just believe there are better out there but with this price again, it is acceptable.

Back to working on my weekly Bakery Bonanza list! After being away the last week in Hawaii and searching for sweet delights there, I decided that the ID was where I should I restart my travels. Having checked off Mon Hei and Yummy from my list, just four more to go. Not counting the Specialty’s, Beard Papa or the second Yummy House location. I have already reviewed another location of each of these places. After purchasing some vegetables to restock my fridge at Van Produce, I decided to head over to Sweet & Fresh Bakery. The location is a bit out of the way in the ID. It is near a dead end street and across from the Tsue Chong noodle factory. First read up on the place on the MSG150 blog(love it!). The store is a bit small, but I was surprised by the selection here. I guess you could call this a Chinese bakery, but it seems to have some Western influences. Here you will find a lot of the usual Chinese buns found elsewhere in the ID. However, there are some differences like meat filled croissants. They also have Swiss rolls, slices of cake and apparently they make sub sandwiches per MSG150. I did not see any sub sandwiches, but I was really here more for the baked goods. I got the ham & cheese croissant, a fruit tart($ 1.80) and a chicken pie all for under $ 6. Aside from the slices of cake, I did not really see any pricing which is sometimes frustrating. The goods are cheap, so it did not really matter to me. I just wanted what I want and got it! The croissant was flaky and good. Even though I put it in the fridge and zapped it in the microwave the next morning, it was still great. The fruit tart kind of has more of a cookie crust like texture. It is a small little thing, but really good. The fruit is the main star and the tart part of it comes secondary. Kind of like that way actually. It actually makes you think you are eating healthy on your dessert. In denial I am. As for the chicken pie, the crust is good. The filling was a little different then I expected. The filling included cabbage, so it kind of tastes more like the filling you find in a piroshky. Overall, I like Sweet & Fresh. Actually very surprised. I always seem to alternate between Yummy House and Mon Hei, but Sweet & Fresh is a good alternative to these two shops. Their selection is a little different which I like. It is in a lonely area of the ID, but not too far. So walk the extra block and go!

Very very very good cookies. Except for bean curd cookies, which my dad wanted; but seriously, you don’t come to a bakery for«bean curd cookies,» do you? Amazing peanut cookies, we got two of them. They make their own stuff, and have a wide variety of not just cookies but pastries, tarts, sandwiches and other Asian goods. Service is friendly and helpful, and next time I’m in the ID, I’ll stock up on sweets from this place

I love this place. Just got back from buying a dozen pastries today and enjoy them oh so much. My mom has been going here for years to get their awesomely amazing sponge cakes and almond cookies. They sell out of the sponge cakes super fast on the weekend, but the lady-owner always puts some on hold when we call in our order a few hours ahead of pickup time. So fluffy, slighty sweet and just heavenly. I like these better than the other sponge cakes that I’ve had in Vancouver or Richmond BC which is bold to say since they have some of the best asian food there. Hubby and I also enjoy their other sweet pastries like red bean, coconut buns, and pineapple buns.

After undergraduate school I got a job working at an agency that helped Vietnamese refugees find jobs and homes in Los Angeles. At the same time I started to notice that there were a number to Boulangeries opening in LA and serving wonderful baguettes and croissants. I did not connect the two until later. Remember, the French colonized Vietnam for over a century so now the Vietnamese bake French breads and pastries and have incorporated them into traditional Vietnamese cuisine. Another illustration of the tremendous contributions of immigrants to America. Sweet and Fresh is one of those bakeries with fabulous croissants and pastries. They make pastries like Almond Croissants and Cherry Danishes(made with croissant dough, YUM). And they make traditional Chinese pastries like baked BBQ Pork Buns but with baguette dough(YUM again). I think Sweet and Fresh is the best bakery in the International District and one of my favorite bakeries in Seattle.
