We were looking for a late night restaurant and happened to come across this place. We ordered the lamb and beef gyro combo meal which was only $ 7.99! And included fries and a drink. We got a big portion and fast service. Forgot to take a picture but definitely will take one next time! These were the best savory gyros I’ve had for sure!

Great food! So many gyro/middle eastern food on the ave the choices can be overwhelming. However, having tried them all this is the best! Love their shawarma!

I got the lamb shawarma this time. Last time I got a chicken sandwich, which was good, but this lamb shawarma was excellent. Probably the best sandwich along the collection of Mediterranean restaurants in the area. The yogurt adds to the taste, with the olive and hot pepper. Everything seems to be carefully thought through. The service is fast, even on a late, busy Friday night, and the guys are courteous, even after I overwhelmed them with special requests. We were a large group and orders were flying from everywhere but the chefs/waiters still kept their cool, smiling all the time, which is hard to see often in such restaurants. The portions are fairly generous. Prices are affordable; and they didn’t charge me for a few extra things I «custom-ordered».

Food was excellent. This is my new favorite shawarma/gyro place on the Ave! I ordered a chicken gyro and really enjoyed spices and flavor. By far the best thing about the sandwich was the lack of grease. Usually eating a gyro=greasy mess everywhere. I did not have that problem here! My friend agreed and thought her chicken shawarma was excellent. Can’t wait to come back!

Good, cheap, quick. Bam! Ambiance suffers from being a hole in the wall, but hey, it’s a hole in the wall. What do you expect?

Awesome place to grab some really good food. My cousin and I are regulars and our preferred meal is the #14 chicken shawarma served with fries and that delicious toum(garlic sauce). Owners and employees are chill as well. The place is a bit small and can get crowded, but I don’t mind at all. Will always come back whenever I am in Seattle.

I stopped in today and was immediately attracted to the«GYROSUPERTURBO» because of it’s awesome name and that it has double meat. It didn’t take too long to get the pita(no combo for me), and everyone was very nice. The cashier was very attentive in keeping the place clean, wiping down tables immediately after people were done eating. The Super Turbo is a big house of a sandwich. The meat was very tender and juicy and its noticeably distinct from other places on the ave in this regard. My only wish is that the sandwich itself be a bit less dry(maybe more lettuce, definitely more tomato). I really like all the sauces they have, and it could’ve made it just that much better with the double meat. I was stuffed and had to ask for a small to-go box for what was left – it was just too good. I highly recommend the Super Turbo; but if you order it definitely switch it up and ask for extra spicy and saucy and then it will really be something special.

I began on a gyro/shwarma quest on the Ave, starting at Aladdin’s, Samirs, Shwarma King, and finally ending at Sultan and I’m staying. Sultan is clean and well lit. They accept credit cards, and cooks everything to order. The man behind the grill is super friendly and remembers my order, but most importantly quick. My go-to order is the #9, classic gyro with lamb and beef. Total comes to $ 6 if you just get the pita only — I tend to skip the combo as I don’t like fries with my gyro. This comes with lettuce, onion, tomato, and a very refreshing yogurt sauce. The food takes about 5 – 10 minutes to prepare and is served to you hot. The pita is warm and filled to the brim with freshly grilled meat, topped with the above mentioned vegetables. I’ve been here many times and the vegetables have always been fresh and crisp — never encountered any brown or wilted vegetables. Before enjoying your gyro, get the red bottle of hot sauce and drizzle it on your gyro, savoring each bite with a little heat. Don’t forget to put it back where you got it so others can use it too please. Finally, after devouring that gigantic gyro bus your table and leave happy. 5⁄5 best gyro I’ve had on the Ave — highly recommend you do the gyro quest and hope you come to the same conclusion!

Oh my God this is my favorite place to eat Mediterranean food. There Arabic shawarma is the best. And the kabobs too.

I got a gyro and an order of greek fries. I’ve also gone to Aladdin’s down the street and gotten these items. In comparison, I’d say both are pretty good and definitely fill you up! Prices are on par. We were able to grab a drink from the fridge as well with our orders. The vegetables were fresh and the gyro meat had pretty good flavor. I’d still like to go back to try the falafel. The greek fries were delicious, but I am a sucker for fries topped with goodness. Staff was friendly! As a student, definitely an option when hungry on the Ave.

After having tried all the gyros on the ave, sultans is by far the best. The service is always fast and friendly and the prices are very reasonable.

I’ve eaten here several times and liked it quite a bit. The falafel pitas are one of the best on the ave. The lettuce/bell pepper/onion/cucumber/tomato is always very fresh and hand cut. That level of attention for fast food already separates Sultan from most of the other falafel places in the U District. The falafel itself is crispy. The flavor is pretty standard and nothing outside the ordinary. The homemade sauce(tahini-based and vegan) is very mellow and slightly neutral in that sesame seed sort of way. It combines great with hotsause. The whole sandwich is dusted lightly with sumac. — I have also ordered the falafel plate/veggie plate which is advertised as vegan. Unfortunately depending on who’s working they may accidentally put cheese on it. When made correctly, all the individual items are good. The falafel(pita) combo is excellent. My only complaint is the side of fries is a bit small in comparison to other pita places on the ave.

With a name like Sultan, you better have some authority and power when it comes to your food. Instead, you’re the strong man at the carnival who is lifting weights made of styrofoam. I ordered the falafel and was shocked to find it totally, completely bland. How is possible to make a falafel without any flavor? Somehow, you did it. I will say that the staff are really friendly, prices are reasonable and it was made pretty fast. All it needs is some spice and a little more love. I might be inclined to give it one more go, to see if my falafel was an anomaly, and not the norm. Keep you posted.

I’m only ever getting the shawarma or gyro, and always asking for it to be spicy! I’m here a few times each week I think it taste amazing! I do have to add(why it’s 4 star over 5) the past 2 months or so they’ve been kinda slippin, pretty sure it’s just the new staff catching up, some times the meat is a little too dry, or the sandwich itself is kinda lacking in sauce. It’s only been a few times though! I still go all the time.

This is one of my favorite spots for a quick middle eastern sandwich. The restaurant is very clean and always in good order when I come. They have exceptionally friendly service and the very fresh food never disappoints. The chicken gyro and kabob are both very tender and tasty. The fries are delicious and always perfectly crispy with just the right amount of salt.

My favorite gyro place on the ave. Simply delicious and cheap! I normally get the gyro salad which comes with a bed of romaine, olives, red onion, tomatoes, dressing and a bed of beef and lamb grilled to perfection. On the side is the ztatziki sauce which is fresh and BOMB. People are friendly.

The best place to go to when you’re on the verge of collapsing from the lack of energy in your system. I really wanted to eat a gyro, on this particular day. I love Aladdin Falafel Corner(I consider it the best.), but didn’t have cash with me, and didn’t have the time to walk all the way there so I came here. Fantastic! They accept cards! I was ridiculously happy. The person manning the register was friendly, which means the chances of me returning are quite good. Especially after eating the #9 lamb and beef gyro! I get the brown bag, and I can feel the warmth wriggling through the paper. The smell is not as intoxicating as it could be, but is intoxicating enough because I am so famished. The onion pricks my eyes as I bite into it, and I realize later that I should have taken the onion out and eaten it as like a side, but the overwhelming onion doesn’t matter when I reach the deep insides of the gyro. The pita was soft; doughy. I prefer a drier pita(crisper), but this one wasn’t bad. What made me sigh in satisfaction was the well seasoned meat. The sauces flowed out of the pita in little streams and stained my clothes yellow, but it didn’t matter. The very bottom of the gyro(I had it to-go.) held a pocket of flavor which left an amazing aftertaste. $ 5.50 for delicious gyro? Would do again. I have found a go-to place for the in between classes hungries.

It definitely doesn’t set a good tone for a restaurant when the health inspector comes in and says that he’s not happy about something. That actually happened to me here during my visit, but I think he was just complaining about how the trash bags were being thrown away. It didn’t affect the food that was being served, and I otherwise had no problem with my lunch. Hooray for gyros so close to UW! I ordered a big platter that cost like ten dollars. The guy behind the counter was pretty quick and was able to serve me my food within nine minutes. This thing was the bomb! On that one paper plate was plenty of food and variety: salad, lamb and onions, and tzatziki sauce. They also gave me some pita bread to eat this with. Yum! I’m not sure I’d be a returning customer, but this restaurant has at least made its way onto my list of the Ave’s better lunch options.
