Love this place. I got a two piece fish & chips and almost couldn’t finish it. The pieces of fried cod they gave me were HUGE. The fries were ok. I wasnt a big fan of the tartar sauce they gave me. It was a bit too sweet for my liking. Spuds is all about location and convenience. You’re right on the boardwalk to the beach. It’s a nice spot to sit and relax outside or you can sit inside and go upstairs for the view. I sat outside because I had my dog with me and didn’t want to leave him in the car. Overall, I would definitely come back here, but maybe just get 1 piece or no fries. It was a bit too much food for me.

Good, tasty fish and chips. The chicken is surprisingly good. The view from upstairs is worth the wait.

We ordered the cod, scallop and fries. They were fried in front of us. Tasted soooo great. Perfect thing for a cold Seattle day by the beach.

I’ve definitely had better fish and chips, but I will say it was soo satisfying after walking from the ferry. The fries and tartar sauce are delicious! The fish is a lot of batter, I ended up eating around a lot of it. The soup was just alright. The window upstairs was hard to see through, but it would be a cool view.

It’s ok. Just would rather not hear one of the worker ladies talk loudly about her life problems when I’m eating. One of the younger guys was a snob too. An older gentleman was asking a question and the worker just told him he couldn’t hear him in a rude tone and walked off. Treat your customers better.

Nothing fancy just good ol’ classic Fish & Chips. Had the nice location on Alki Beach and was a walk up to order style restaurant which I think is ideal for my idea of classic fish & chips. I ordered a Double Order(2 cod filets and a large fry) and a cup of chowder. I give them both 7.5÷10. Chowder was nothing to write home about but good enough that I finished the cup even after two nice sized filets of cod and fries. Menu was fairly priced and I would recommend stopping by if you’re in the area and craving some fish & chips. Available indoor and outdoor seating for those rare but priceless good weather Seattle days.

Got the 3 piece combo which came with three generous sized pieces of cod which were nicely flavored. Great texture and very flakey, not the least bit oily. Fries were fresh cut and totally unmemorable. The fish pieces were able to overcome that deficit, and although not battered, and instead having what seamed like a cornmeal based breading, I still found the meal quite enjoyable. Clam chowder was also tasty, with a nice hint of bacon. F&C serving tray needs to be bigger though.

This place is amazing, order your food and either sit inside or you can sit outside on the beach and enjoy! The fish-n-chips are very huge for the price you pay. Their chowders either red or white are actually delicious compared to Ivars!

Update 9÷3÷15 Came back not even a week later for the oysters — was not disappointed. They are little flavor jewels from the sea that have been deep fried to perfection. Had the seasonal blackberry shake. So good!

Where have you been all my life? I wish Spud’s had more locations around the sound because Alki is a bit far out for me. The 1-piece fish’n’chips is PLENTY. 1-piece of cod is the size of a large man’s hand. I’m used to the dinky finger-sized portions Ivar’s offers. And while Ivar’s is quite good, I’d rate Spud’s right up there as delectable if not better! Sourdough bowl clam chowder is also a hit!

Spud is my favorite. I love their delicious fries, I love their huge lemonade and I love their combos. Their fish is huge and flaky and perfectly fried. An wonderful assortment of different types of vinegar and I like their deep fried mushrooms, their clam chowder and pretty much everything else on their menu. Sure, their scallops may not be as bomb as Sunfish down the block, but the whole package? Spud has got it for you. I love the way they wrap everything up to go. Who the hell am I kidding? I grew up with Spud’s so Spud will always, always have a soft spot in my heart.

We ordered the 3-piece true cod fish and fries. The pieces of fish are huge! Service was friendly and quick, fish tasted delicious. A note about seating: They have seating on the top and bottom levels of the restaurant, but the noise level does get a bit louder on the top level. That being said I think it’s a bit cooler up there, which is really nice on a 90+ degree day!

Spuds offers good food at a very reasonable price, and the fries are house-cut, which I loved. We also enjoyed the fish. Tip: They have parking! True, its just a handful of spots, but on a sunny weeknight at about 9pm we had no trouble getting a spot. This was fantastic, because as regular visitors to alki beach know, parking is not always easy to come by. We will be back!

I would chalk up my thoughts on finally going to Spuds because a lot of people tell me about it after they visit. However, I can’t because I was with other people. We all agreed the food was boring and bland. OK the batter wasn’t completely without taste but the cod fish let it down. The cod had no taste. I rather have cheaper tilapia if I need a bland white, plus it hold up better. The french fries were also unappealing. I assume the lack of a crunch and were soft was do to the how it was packed to go. The tartar sauce, which should be good, was tasteless and served no purpose other than cool the fish down to eat it soon. The bright spot and only reason the place is with going is their selection of vinegars. I like vinegar on my chips so the garlic or chili vinegar was the only thing that offered flavor. Reason for 1 star. The employees are nice so that the 2nd star. Not worth going to Spuds, better fish and chips shops exist in Seattle and better restaurants in walking distance.

While walking around Alki beach stop by Spud Fish & Chips without doubt a must! Not only because this location is the original location opened years ago. But really what not too like about some good old fashion fish and chips along with some fries or even clam chowder wash it all down or get taste buds jump started! I actually passed on clam chowder although the customers saw had it. It was looking really good. I ended up going with clams and fries. My friends that were visiting ordered the regular fish and chips with fries. So got to taste the best of both worlds clams and fish fried. Talk about the perfect fish fry. Both clams and fish cooked to nice crispy brown on outside. The inside was steaming hot! More so can tell with the fish soon break a piece see all this steam coming out, the meat of fish moist, and flaky. The clams something that can be hit or miss I have found. The clams smaller pieces so easy over cook them and the inside all dry out. In this case it was on point. The fries were ok. I do like mix it up with some skin on them. The star of the show was the fish and clams. They also have oysters and chicken on the menu. Why would you come here order chicken. Just saying… The vinegar station though was pretty cool. They have lot of different options. I just wanted stick with the original plan or with little tartar sauce. It all open kitchen or say open fry station since everything is deep fried. I can appreciate simple menu that does it right. They fry everything to order so be careful first bite. The service at the counter was fabulous. No waiter service you just wait hear number called then hopefully find open table. They have upstairs dining area so don’t be discourage if the bottom part if full. The restaurant sits right along the boardwalk in Alki. The upstairs dining area really nice cause you get the view of the boardwalk. On clear day(thankfully on that day could not have ask for better weather) nothing more relaxing seeing people chilling out on the beach, people on bikes, and good food. Some place that I would come back again next trip to Seattle.

This was okay, I like don’t like fries with the skin on them. The clams was really small and doesn’t come with cocktail sauce. The fried oysters didn’t come with a sauce either but the fish came with one tartar sauce. They had different vinegar with Garlic and hot spicy vinegar. I couldn’t tell the difference I like the malt best. The rating is because the clams is a very small portion. The taste was just okay, the place that doesn’t offer service didn’t even make an effort.

SPUDS! It’s a Seattle institution! What can I say that hasn’t already been said? This place is awesome! The Alki Spuds Fish and Chips is busting at the seams with charm and character! It’s one of the few restaurants near here that actually has a parking lot too! Located directly across the street from Alki Beach, Spuds has amazing views of the Puget Sound, the Ferry’s and the Olympic Mountains! Great food, good customer service, okay prices… all with some of the most gorgeous views in the city! Eat in one of the dining rooms(there’s a 1st and a 2nd floor,) or take your foodie goodies to go and walk across the street to the beach. You can’t go wrong either way! Of note is that this Spuds is located in West Seattle. As such, the restaurant pays homage to the historical surroundings with its wall art in the downstairs hallway. Very cool pictures of old Seattle and some of the old Alki waterfront gems! Definitely worth checking out! This place is really 3 star food quality– but add in the historic charm and the million dollar views and its 5 stars all the way for Spuds!

Right off alki. Menu has a lot of under $ 10 items. This place gives pretty big portions! So I was happy! We ordered the fried oysters and chips. With a big bowl of clam chowder. Fried oysters had light reading and juicy large pieces of oysters. Fries were done the way I like them, crispy on the ends and mushy in the middle. Clam chowder… Not sure why mine was so sandy? Very rich and creamy. It’s going to fill you up pretty easily. I didn’t even touch the crackers. Make sure to dine upstairs for the«view». Everything is self service. Help yourself to their vinegar bar! I really enjoyed the garlic vinegar. Their milkshakes are made with real fruit, I’m looking forward to trying that next time.

Back again to try some other options available after my pleasant first experience. Fried oysters — 4⁄5. The oysters were definitely fried fresh and my only«complaint» is that there were 5 oysters(was expecting 6). Regardless, they were delicious and there was plenty of tartar sauce to use for all my oysters. Pineapple smoothie — 4⁄5. I’m not quite sure how to describe this, but it seems to be a vanilla shake with bits of pineapple and a STRONG pineapple flavor. It was definitely heavy, like most shakes are, but the citrus-y flavor of the pineapple alleviated some of it. Definitely will stop by here on a «hot» Seattle afternoon if I’m craving a cold treat Three piece cod — 4⁄5. Again, not too heavy or oily, but with a light seasoning that let the fish shine through.

What a disappointment as far as food goes. The view is nice, the Checker was pleasant. That’s it! I only continued to order because I felt obligated after parking in their lot. Go upstairs and try to soothe your barely edible $ 20.00 meal with a comforting view of Seattle.
