Some tasty sandwiches here I had the salmon burger. The salmon patty was light and flaky, the tartar abundant and delicious, and there was a bit of lettuce and heirloom tomato to boot. Nothing completely overpowered and the flavor of the salmon really stood out. They used giant buns which kind of skewed the fish: bread ratio, but I simply just removed the top bun and ate it open face. Tastier AND less carbs, yayer! The pickle was great too, I can only assume at a place like this it’s house made. My(very cute) companion got the bbq chicken sandwich and the bites I snuck in were really good as well. Chicken was slightly smoky and tender. The excellent bbq sauce was noticed, not announced… I wish frat boys would do the same with their cologne when I’m out drinkin’ on the weekends. We split a salad as well and I liked all the components of it(greens, Beecher’s, pickled beets). Only complaint was the amount of turkey we received for a $ 5.00 add on was quite small. Three stars, I would come back, but there are so many other options in the area I’m not in a rush to. If you’re walking by however and craving a quick lunch and sandwich drop in!

First off, I’ve never heard of Tom Douglas or any of his rubs. My friends and I were in Seattle for the afternoon and were starving, so we walked around until we found somewhere that looked quick and delicious. We came across this place, which is at the end of the Public Market, mixed in with a dozen other food joints on the block. There’s a small amount of outdoor seating, and inside is just a bar against the window with a handful of stools. The menu was small, but everything sounded amazing. Among the 7 of us, I think we all ordered something different. I decided on the Dungeness crab sandwich. It was fairly large and the flavors really stood out, but I don’t know if it justifies the almost $ 20 price tag(I didn’t realize how expensive it was until after I ordered. The hunger was distracting me from the details). Most of the other sandwiches on the menu ranged from $ 10 – 15. If that’s what market price is for Dungeness crab, I understand but maybe throw a fancier side dish in with it, rather than the standard pickle. Everyone in our group seemed to enjoy their sandwiches, although there were some gripes on prices. I suppose being in downtown contributes to the price tag, as well. Overall, I’d recommend this place for a lunch, but I think they would benefit from more seating.

—-I really like to hack the system By using Tom Douglas rub with love steak rub with a primary layer of kosher flake sea salt(pressed in with food handlers gloves and plate pressure), on fresh high quality Lam Steaks. i through them on the grill(or with generous mild tasting olive oil in stove pan) and they are incredibly juicy. I have made this recipe using Tom Douglas steak rub many many times and it is always a big hit! remember to press in the ingredients in layers and leave in over night if you have the patience/time. I look forward to using his poultry rub in a butter beer can chicken(Cornish hen) concept in the future :) enjoy :) Ps. Not sure how to fit the Cornish hen on a beer can though well hey I guess I will figure something out ! :) maybe a bottle that wont break(idea while i am drunk lol) with bringing the beer to a boil proactively in a sauce pan lol. just a wild guess :) or a thin can of beer and alot of force/determination on the 4th of july :). maybe it is just easier to use a pain chicken :) ps.2 selection of the biggest Cornish hen at the store is critical don’t you forget that lol :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :):) :) :) :) :):) :) :) :) :):) :) :) :) :) o got it i will hyjack a thin energy drink can not saying any names and pour the boiled beer after washing it out. enjoy the profound brilliance. manage the top heavy weight with paper weight steaks on eater side and i promice that you will be a happy camper :) :) :)

This place was a disappointment and not really worth the money. I can get one at some random deli that will taste even better for less than what I paid here. My boyfriend and I came here a while back, and yes this is a long over due review. Maybe two months ago? Anyways, the sandwiches were just so not worth it. The money or the wait. and the day we went it wasn’t even that busy, maybe 4 people ahead of us? It was just your typical sandwich and I expected more and it didn’t deliver. We got the Peri Peri turkey sandwich and the Alaskan dungeness crab roll. meh.

Pork shoulder sandwich, possibly the best sandwich I have ever eaten. Combination of roll, pork and pickled vegetables flavors/textures absolutely sublime.

We wondered into the Rub with Love Shack during a recent trip to Seattle. The place is very small and seems set up for take out. only a few seats of bar type seating along a large window. The service was good and quick. My boyfriend ordered the salmon burger and I ordered the BBQ chicken sandwich and a bowl of the kale and white bean soup. The soup was flavorless and a bit pricey for the small cup but the sandwiches were great! I really enjoyed my chicken but his Salmon burger was probably the best seasoned food we had during our entire stay in Seattle. I wish I had known they had a full service restaurant right next door as we would have dined there and had some drinks with our meal. I would definitely go back and highly recommend the salmon burger to others. It’s very close to Pike’s Market and great for people watching.

since i usually get the salmon burger, i wanted to try something new so i got the roast rub pork sandwich. it had a very interesting taste. the pork was shredded and very moist and juicy. i liked the bread it came on(sturdy). the fennel aioli was very prominent and added an herby twist on the sandwich. the most bizarre and unexpected part, though, were the pickled veggies(cauliflower and red peppers). it actually did a good job of cutting through the greasy/heaviness of the sandwich by providing some tangy acidity. BUT i’m not sure if i LOVED it. i will say i have never had a sandwich like this, and i do appreciate all the different notes the sandwich tried to hit(complex flavor profile). minus points for the greasiness. bottom half of my sandwich was sitting in a shiny pool of oil. minimal indoor seating but three bench tables outside with a good view of the water.

My girls’ sandwiches were great but my crab roll was extremely salty. Unable to finish it. But the bread is amazing!

My friend and I was there in the early afternoon(a little after 1PM), intentionally planed on avoiding the lunch time rush. There was no customers when we got in, possibly because it’s a week day and it was slightly raining. Not bad! Lots of space for us, we like it! However, it’s just right after lunch time, and there’s still people in all the restaurants around. I wonder why… The awesome part about this place is that everything in the menu sound yummy! I have been to several of Tom Douglas’ restaurants to be able to trust that anything we be made of great quality and taste good. I don’t mind paying a bit more to get his good quality food. My friend got a Steak sandwich that come with cheese sauce, but it wasn’t called cheese steak. Anyhow, I tasted a little of the cheese sauce and it was amazing! Not to cheesy and get a hint of potato in the sauce, which made a great twist. The sandwich was on today special menu that a cashier was just about to put it on after lunch time. Yes, after lunch time. I wonder why… I got a Salmon Burger, and the salmon was absolutely amazing! Perfect seasoning, the pickle green tomato compliment it really well. Until, half way through my burger, I found a black furry spot in the middle of the burger bun. I stopped eating, and took out whatever in my mouth, and found that a part of that black spot was in my mouth too. I showed it to my friend to make sure what I saw is what looks like a mold spot. I then took the bun to the counter and shower it to the staff. Two guys took the half bitten bun on a napkin from me and carefully investigated the bun, staring, poking, and broke apart the bun with their bare hands to look deeper with curious faces trying to see what’s that black spot is. They were both mumbling for a bit before one of them said that the buns are from the bakery up the hill, I can’t assume anything else but Dahlia Bakery(but the real question is «how old is the bun?»). Then, the same guy said that black spot was olive! Oh olive? Okay, regardless I don’t want the bun that they already used their bare hand poke back to eat though. No no no… T~T Now, it get me wonder if it was a piece of olive in the middle of the bun, why it looks a little furry around the black spot? Why there’s only ONE tiny piece of olive in the bun? Is Tom Douglas really that stingy to only put a one tiny bit of «purée» olive in a bun, and not really gonna taste the taste of olive at all? I have to call it purée because it definitely look nothing like a piece of finely chopped olive. I mean if they intend to put olive in, shouldn’t they put it enough to at least taste the olive? Or if they want to cut cost, understandable that good olive can be expensive, shouldn’t they just take all the olive off? I’m also a regular at Dahlia Bakery, go there often enough that i’m sure their most simple plain bread is already really good. There’s no need for olive, really. I’m still curious what that black furry spot is. Olive… I wonder… My friend and I was sitting inside and I felt like we are being smoked along with the pork in their oven. I can see smoke the second I walked in, and it didn’t go away. Imagine sitting in a Chinese hot pot restaurant where spicy soup keep steaming any you left the restaurant smell like the soup that you just eat. It’s the same for this place, but instead of spicy soup, you will smell like smoky BBQ. I wonder if they turn on the vent… Two stars for great salmon burger(without bun), and somewhat helpful looking staff. Deducting three stars for leaving me wonder and bad ventilation. Will I come back? Yeah! For take out, and will be sure to ask what kind of bread/bun come with, and what will I expect to see in it.

Made the«mistake» of asking for an oyster on the half shell. Guy snapped at me that they don’t do those there. Have to go next door. Even so, I took it in stride, happily awaiting my($ 20!!!) crab roll. Totally overpriced not to mention the unfriendly service.

This is a review of a carry-out lunch from Rub with Love Shack. This is one of the ever growing number of Tom Douglas establishments within a short walk of Belltown. First, I am a fan of the Tom Douglas’ Rub with Love rubs. I have tried just about all of them. The Rub with Love Shack sells these and his marinades. The staff was not very friendly. He had a bit of a you are lucky we are even helping you attitude. It may have just been a bad day for him. But it happened to be the day that I was there. Plus, we ordered two sandwiches and purchased a couple of the rubs and a marinade. He didn’t even ask if I would like a bag. This is a small shop. It has some tables outside. But I am sure that much of their business is carry-out. The sandwiches were both pretty tasty and well-made. We had the Peri Peri Turkey Sandwich. I really like the Peri Peri rub. It is great for roast chicken. We also had the BBQ chicken sandwich. This was also a nicely prepared sandwich. So, both of the sandwiches were good. There was a little bit of a negative with the service. So, why is Rub with Love Shack only getting two stars? Well, the sandwiches were good but they were also very small. We bought two sandwiches and we each ate half of each. We were hungry again in 30 minutes. These sandwiches go for $ 8.50 a pop. It is simply not a good value and I would not go there again to order sandwiches. There are sandwich shops a stone’s throw away that are just as good that provide a full-sized sandwich for the same price. I am not really willing to pay a premium for a sandwich just because it has Tom Douglas’ name on it. Overall — Good but very small sandwiches — Service with an attitude — Tom Douglas & tourist gouging prices = Not worth a return trip

The rub shack is very disappointing. The prices are expensive, and the sandwiches are small. $ 10 for a chicken or pork sandwich and $ 18 for a crab sandwich. The service is very slow. They either need someone to work the register full-time or hire another employee or two. The sandwiches themselves left plenty to be desired, and there are lots of other great sandwich restaurants in the pike place area.

I came to this place as part of a walking tour of Seattle’s eateries. I sampled a few of their rubs which were really tasty. They make burgers and sandwiches with the rubs. I had the cod and I forget which rub it was, but it was delicious. The fish was very fresh(it is right by the water after all). I gave it 4 stars because of the price. A little bit more than I want to pay for that type of food.

Pork sandwich was very very good. I thought the bread could have been a bit better. Service is limited but quick and your food comes out even quicker. I will definitely go back and try other items on the menu. Amex is accepted.

Apparently, this is a Tom Douglas restaurant and I was all excited when I saw a Dungeness crab sammich on their menu. I’ve never been to a Tom Douglas restaurant before so I thought I’d be in for a treat. Nope. No treats here. I don’t know how this place has a One-Dollar rating because nothing was cheaper than $ 10 here. The sandwich was«OK» at best and nothing really stood out. Oh, and the service was atrocious. I asked for it to-go and it came wrapped loosely in one piece of foil. I asked for another piece of foil because I came prepared with my own bags and they said they had to charge me for it. One extra piece of foil, or customer loyalty? Hmm?

I went here on a whim and so glad I did. The crab rolls are sooooo good! Lots or crab, very little mayonnaise, exactly how a crab roll should be. Totally worth the crowds of pike place to get too.

Came here for lunch with my husband. We’ve been wanting to try out this place for a while. I got the salmon burger and he got the BBQ chicken sandwich. Out of the two, I liked the BBQ chicken better, though I wouldn’t say it’s the best sandwich I’ve ever had. I was underwhelmed with the salmon burger. The bun was soft and had a nice crunchy edge, but the salmon itself wasn’t flavorful. Would I come back? Probably to buy the rubs(i’m a fan of the salmon rub!), but I’ll pass on the sandwiches.

Their Roast Pulled Pork sandwich destroys anything coming out of Paseo’s. Yeah, I said it. Now try this place and prove me wrong. You won’t. You can’t. I found my new addiction.
