Walked into this place for some quick to-go Mediterranean lunch fix. I was expecting the food would be made to order, as it is at similar places I have been to. They have a conveyor belt style, ready ingredients you can choose from. I ordered a Shawarma sandwich on wheat bread. The person helping me heated the bread for like 5 secs and started working on it. Added some chicken, sauces and veggies. And my meal was ready. The taste was good. I felt the price was slightly high considering the size of the portion. But reasonable, I guess. I wouldn’t really recommend this place, but definitely will go again when I am craving some Mediterranean food. Couple of suggestions for the owner/manager: 1. It would help if the employes were friendlier. They were not rude, but hey, everyone likes friendly people serving them. I little more interaction would go a long way. 2. Heat the pita a little bit more. Or at least if the customer would like that.(My pet peeve, I know) 3. Bigger portion would definitely be a plus. I guess people wont mind paying a little extra for a filling meal. Hope you guys get better the next time I am here :)

I had the lamb and beef gyro and it was pretty good, my hubby got one too and loved it. For a quick lunch stop it was perfect. I liked that you could add what you wanted to the sandwich. Also, it was huge I couldn’t finish it even though I was starving when we came in.

The two times I have been here, the staff have been friendly. I had a lamb and beef gyro both times, and it was delicious. they make it in front of you like Subway, where you can decide what kinds of vegetables to include. I am not picky about the type of food(labelled Mediterranean, but seems Greek) they serve, so I can’t compare it to similar restaurants. There is limited seating inside, around 4 – 5 tables, so it’s nice to just pick up lunch to eat elsewhere.

The coworkers and I always want to try different places. Once of us was craving Greek and realized that we walk past Pita Express every so often but have not tried it yet. This place reminded me of a Subway and the guy there was a little rude. It was our first time there we «took too long looking at the menu». He was saying that we are lucky that it’s not busy(there was no one there at 12ish). Besides the dude being weird, the food was quick and good. I got the beef and lamb gyro and the meat was flavored really well. The veggies and other stuff was fresh and overall tasted healthy? I asked for less sauce after seeing how much they put on for my coworkers. Now I kind of know what I like so next time I’m not going to take long looking at the menu… Anyways, it’s a quick and good meal at a decent price($ 7 – 8 for the gyro) so my crew and I would most likely come back.

Pita Xpress reminds me of the old pita pit up on the Ave near the University of Washington. Image subway but for pitas and gyros. You can select from several different types of meats and pitas. Then, you choose your sauces, vegetables, cheese, and random other toppings. The overall quality of the food is average, tasty, but average. Because I used to work around the area, I found pita xpress a nice break the usual places to grab lunch– market fresh, subway, or taco del mar. I’m sure I will return but its not something I will be running back to.

i’m impressed. The person was closing up(I didn’t have my watch on and didn’t realize what time it was) and he was kind enough to pull together hummus and pita which is what I was wanting. I thought that was VERY kind. He heated up the pita bread for me and gave me a lot of hummus for what the side portion was. I am looking forward to going back there this week for a falafel sandwich! The place was clean, the employee was really nice. Definitely recommend!

Okay, I am a tough critic of Middleeastern food, since growing up in Michigan. I am also skeptical after trying many of the restaurants around Seattle and being disappointed. I purchased an offer for a 5-pita punch card and didn’t have the highest expectations but still was willing to give it a shot. My first impressions of the restaurant was that it was quiet but pretty clean and nice enough. The employee working behind the counter was super friendly. I loved that they had the choice between wheat and white pita. I chose wheat and it was grilled up hot. Next I chose the chicken shwarama with veggies pita. The pita was spread with hummus and then the chicken was heaped on. I then got to select my other toppings. Cucumber tomato salad, tzatziki, lettuce, hot sauce, parsley, yes please. I’m surprised he was able to neatly fold it and wrap it for me. Sitting down at one of their window tables I was in shwarama heaven. It was not the best shwarama ever but it was delicious, filling, fast, and cheap. I’m glad I get to come back 4 more times!!!

Tried their falafel(meditarranean) plate. Priced at less than 10 $ is a good bargain. The taste was ok, I’ve been to better places, but it’s not bad. The service was great.

A decent gyro — nothing special. In fact, it was solidly average which isn’t bad. You know what you are getting. A big stuffed pita with lots of lamb, veggies, and garlic tatziki. The guy was friendly. I’d definitely go back if i was craving this type of food.

Im not really sure why this place only has a 3 star review average. I recently started working in the building next door and was thrilled to have a gyro place close by. I used to work in a mediterranean kitchen, so my standards on gyro’s are relatively high, and this place did not disappoint. I got a chicken gyro with all the fixin’s and the lady was nice enough to not charge extra when I asked for extra tzatziki and feta on top. It was delightful. I am looking forward to going back to try out more of their menu. great spot — highly recommend

Came in for lunch. I got a large gyro salad with hot tea and a side of olives. It is never crowded when I eat lunch at 2-ish and it beats the heck outta SUBWAY. That particular part of downtown is so bereft of sit-down inexpensive lunch places – this one does nicely. There is SUBWAY, the Stewart St grocery, Dragon fish — then widening the circle there is Citrus Thai, which is great, just a little far for me in the alloted time. Pita Express is fast, cheap, and the food is really good. Lots of fresh, chopped veggies, garbazos, hummous, baba ghaoug and feta cheese. Give it a try! Especially the ‘choclava’.

This place sucks. I work down the street at a bakery café and I ran over for something different today for lunch anticipating a hot delicious gyro. What I got was a barely warm somewhat slimy concoction thrown together with little grace by the surly young man behind the counter who slapped the ingredients on an undertoasted pita as I meekly tried to peep out a «light tzatziki», nope. blaat. not even an acknowledgement from the guy as he moved on to the next ingredients. Coming directly from a customer service environment I was appalled by the service especially in porpotion to the price and the quality of the product I received. Bottom line: skip this place and go to the gyro/shwarma place down on 3rd and pine, way better food, cheaper price, and staff that don’t make it feel like a favor to take your money. plus: no onions minus: everything else.

An awesome lunch spot for those nearby. Their gyros are stuffed to the point of being messy so don’t eat on the run, and they do not skimp on the meat like some other Mediterranean street food restaurants. When ordering I was asked if I wanted a regular or a whole-wheat pita. Not having tried the latter I opted for it. Glad I did, really enhanced the flavor. They have a punch card program so I’m going to need to work my way up to a free sandwich.

I work downtown and happened to stumble upon this place during a lunch break. I think they make very good gyros at a decent price considering it being located downtown. Definitely one of the better tasting gyro sandwich’s that I’ve had downtown. I generally only get the beef and lamb Gyro on wheat bread but I have tried one of their desserts which was cool. But I’m not in a hurry to try the deserts again anytime soon… The sandwich is enough to hold me down for lunch. They have a punch card system where you can get a free sandwich after the 10th one I think… anyways, I’m sure I will continue to get a gyro every now and again.

My buddy swears by this place so he said we had to try it. He goes so often that he has 5 stamp cards full of free food goodness. I think the concept is brilliant, which is why it seems to be the spot to go for a quick bite. Essentially, Pita Express is a Mediterranean Subway. You pick your ingredients and portions and enjoy. They have pretty cool side-dishes like dolma and spanokopita… GIANT spanokopita. I ordered the falafel quesa-pita. It is a falafael quesadilla with out the dilla. It hit the spot, what an awesome fusion of Mex&Med.
Trying out Greek/Medit/Middle Eastern food has been in the back of my mind for some months now… and the other day had a hankering to try a pita; later determined to be Falafel. It was good! Super tasty and rather healthy, I’d imagine. I think the pita itself was whole wheat, too. This is a short walk from Convention Place Bus Tunnel Station, which is nice. I just wish they’d update their menu for stuff they don’t offer anymore. «Hi I’d like to try the Pita Fries — » « — we don’t have that [anymore].» Cute window seating, too, on a raised wood platform.

I used to work in a building next to this place and liked to stop by here for pita with hummus or babaganush(but never really wanted anything else). I frequented most of the businesses on that block for several months and one of the employees here was the only one that ever seemed to recognize me. My favorite memory, though, was when I ordered babaganush for the first time and had the young employee stare at me with a look of confusion in his eyes. The older man instantly seemed excited because I seemed to know what I was talking about and carefully threw things together for me himself. Definitely my favorite spot for a light meal to grab during a break(when I worked super close), but not really worth going out of my way for.
