One of the best wines i have had the pleasure to drink. Both their reds and whites are wonderful and if you get a chance to try the ice wine — what a treat! i started out as a white wine drinker only and the Laurelhurst reds have turned me into a red wine drinker as well.

I must admit, my four stars are only because I have not had a chance(yet) to try their wine with food. I met Greg at the Stables in Georgetown, where he was patiently pouring wine in the«Freakatuarium.» This may seem weird, but this is Georgetown! The 2009 Malbec was as complex as anything I have had in Argentina and the Petit Syrah is one of the best I have eve had. The winery is located in an industrial area, however has a warm and comfortable feel to it. Add to this the wine being very good, well I highly recommend Laurelhurst Cellars across the wine spectrum.

These guys are earnest and sincere and they’re making really good wine down in SoDo. Go check them out and become a wine club member, you won’t be disappointed. They’re making two syrahs right now and both of them are worthy of your consideration. Greg, Dave and Gabe deserve your support.

Laurelhurst Cellars was actually recommended to us by another Seattle winery. I guess they got their start making wine in a basement, with 4 barrels. They have come a long way since then, and have their barrels and tasting room set up in a warehouse in the heart of Georgetown. Thankfully, they put out quite a few sandwich boards, to point you toward their tasting room. I found that very considerate for those of us who get lost easily. We were warmly welcomed by the winemaker and an exciting array of red wines. We got to try a Cab Franc, Syrah, Merlot, and their red blend Laurus Nobilis(the ’06 and ’07). I love Cab Franc, my BF loves Merlot, and neither of us are really big fans of Syrah lately. However, we really loved all of the wines at Laurelhurst. We walked out with a few bottles, including the Syrah.
