I crave the lemon sugar crêpe like nobody’s business. I first had a crêpe from these gals at the Wallingford farmers market and went back every week after sometimes just for a crêpe. I often find local places to make their crepes on the thicker side, almost like a pancake. These crepes, though, are perfect. Thin and soft, like they should be.

These two gals are wonderful! They make the crepes while you stand and watch which is a beautiful art within itself. There are various savory flavors along with a few delicious dessert crepes like Nutella/banana. Yum! Sometimes the line gets pretty long at the market but they have a few crêpe maker machines so it goes pretty fast. They don’t take cards but willingly tell you to enjoy your crêpe and bring back the money sometime before the market is over which truly is the spirit of the Ballard market especially. What a treat to have them at the market!

Decided to pay a visit to the Ballard Farmers Market(Sundays 10am-3pm) and stumbled upon La Crespella. Figured the crepes must be interesting since it had a fairly modest line at its food stand. Crêpe batter comes in regular, buckwheat, and even gluten free(on shared equipment though). There is a nice selection of both savory and sweet crepes ranging in price from $ 7 – 11. The kiddo and I shared a cinnamon sugar crêpe. What amazed the kiddo was the giant European butter block that was swiped across the crêpe’s surface before the cinnamon sugar was sprinkled. Crepes can be had from restaurants, tea shops, food trucks, and other farmers market stands all over Seattle, but this really stood out. Actually it took me back to a trip decades ago in Amsterdam. Really distinct, light and flavorful batter. Their Wordpress website is marked private access, but here’s their Facebook info to learn more about them. I’m going to have to return and try other combos like lemon sugar, Nutella & bananas, ricotta & honey, market jam, et cetera. Great quality and enthusiastic folks at the La Crespella stand. Worth the stop for a freshly made treat!
