We ate in and kind of wish we didn’t. The workers were preparing some of the dim sum to freeze and one was dropped on the floor and put right back into the bag. Very off-putting and disturbing. Dim sum tasted average. The egg custard bun(baked or steamed) isn’t very creamy and not quite up to par with other places. Sesame balls had more dough than red bean. Steamed noodles with pork were soggy. Shrimp ball wrappers were a bit thick and not quite the chewy consistency as other places. Fried bell pepper with shrimp was squishy, overcooked, and wrinkly(the bell pepper was) – not crunchy at all. Don’t get me wrong, the people working there are very nice. But the overall experience felt uncleanly and unsatisfactory.

Small, very quiet and has a strong odor upon entering. Not very clean. Curry chicken bun OK tho. Mild green curry and soft soft bun

We stopped by late in the evening, so a bunch of the usual dim sum options had been sold out. The steamed pork buns were good, though, and the prawns with honey walnuts were great. Perfect combination of sweet and salty! I found the fried fish with peppers was a little too salty – a little less salty and it would have been great though. We’ll be back! Wonderful take-out spot. Get there early if you want all the dim sum options though!

This place is small and not the nicest but the food makes up for it. We ordered some dim sum and they were made when we ordered them. Came out steaming hot and you can see them making it. They also have this home made hot sauce that’s pretty delicious also! Got some fried chicken wings with our dim sum. The size of the actual wings were pretty big and they were about $ 3.75 for 6 of them. They come out hot and crispy! Definitely cheap good dim sum. We also got there duck and bok choy lunch that was pretty good and came with soup for only $ 7.

Look somewhere else. Ordered take out and they gave our order to someone else. Didn’t to anything to make up for their mistake. There are better options. Save yourself time and frustration and look somewhere else.

I came to JB Garden in search of good dim sum in Seattle. Their meager setup and family style deceptively hides its strong performance in baked bbq pork buns. Just like the style of baked BBQ pork buns from Mongkok Bakery in old Chinatown of San Francisco, JB Garden expertly executes the timeless Big Sized pastry combination of a warm fluffy dinner roll with a scrumptuous sweet and savory meat jam of shredded barbecue pork, carmelized onions, and barbecue sauce. For just $ 0.99, these baked bbq delights are fulfilling and nurturing, giving you the warmth and flavor to fill your yearnings for the right bite. Their steamed dishes are ok. We had the chou ghao, the ha gao and the shumai. The two dishes with rice flour based wrap could’ve used some work. The wrapper pierced easily and appeared too soggy when overcooked. The shumai was a-ok. When paired with their house chili bean paste sauce(no, not to be confused with sriracha), these dishes met our needs and fulfilled our hunger just right. Will be sure to come back to JB Garden again!

JB Garden is fine for satisfying your Dim Sum craving if you don’t feel like being in a sit-down environment. Don’t expect a restaurant vibe with carts – this is a tiny hole in the wall that’s meant for take-out. It’s a little run-down on the inside, but this is pretty typical if you go to Dim Sum places in Chinatown in Seattle, SF, etc. This being said, prices are dirt cheap and I love that you can order online. I’ve tried a bunch of stuff here now since I usually get a large order to eat over several days, and my favorites by far are: Chaozhou Dumplings, Potstickers and Steamed Shrimp Ball(har gow). I’d say in general their steamed options are far better than fried, and both BBQ buns(steamed, baked) are good. I haven’t tried anything off the non-dim sum menu with the exception of the fried rice which is decent but a little bit saltier than I’d prefer.

I recently moved to the area, I love good dim sum and eagerly tried JB Garden since it’s so close. They do make some of their dim sum ahead of time so just be aware that it may be sitting in a warming case when you come to get it. This last time I ordered to go(from the Unilocal app) they did not have one of the items I ordered(egg custard tarts) so they called me promptly to see what I would take in exchange so I said to give me sesame balls. Ok cool. Well I went to pick up & got all the way home to find out that in addition to the aforementioned substitution they also did NOT give me the rice I ordered & paid for. Still more… In the Shu Mai I found a weird piece of material that was kind of like a remnant of an SOS pad, it’s definitely NOT edible and I’m not sure how it got into the food? The 2 stars are for the house special chow mein I’ve eaten several times and it’s always been tasty. Too bad this place is not up to par!!!

A great place for inexpensive dim sum! The people are nice and helpful, the food was fresh and tasty, the prices were great. It was exactly what we wanted when my husband and I were craving quick and easy dim sum. Do not judge this place against the high-priced, sit-down style dim sum restaurants, it’s not that kind of dim sum. This is a great little hole-in-the-wall type dim sum!

I ordered in from here with my roomates. We decided to get the honey glazed walnut prawns, appetizer sampler, and sticky rice with a side of barbeque pork. When we got it thevorser was wrong and we had barbeque fried rice. The shrinp balls in the sampler were bland and almost goopy in the center and the spring rolls in the sampler had an old rosemary after taste. The walnuts were not glazed and tasted stale. All around bad or forgettable. The people were nice, but the food, we got at least, was awful.

We ordered mu shu pork. Gon pao chicken, and general Tso online. General Tso was great. However, the mu shu pork came without pork.

Oh, Unilocal. You let me down. I was out for a morning drive, and had a hankering for some dumplings. These didn’t hit the spot. I like that the steamed dumplings were cooked to order. But, unfortunately they were nowhere near what I consider«good» dim sum. The Shumai were chewy, with chunky pork meat. They had a fatty, bland flavor. The shrimp and Chive dumplings were also bland. The lady running the show was very nice, and was attentive. Unfortunately, the food was not to my liking. To each their own, I guess.

Pretty bad. Everything was super overcooked: overbattered lemon chicken(I asked for jeet gai, steamed chicken — all gone! Before dinner??). Everything else was deep fried(gyoza) and not the style we’re used to(lo mai gai). Not happy, Bob.

Awful. Tried to eat-in. Bad mistake. Was served tea in a Dixie paper cup. The kind you rinse your mouth out with. The tea pot was dusty and grimy. Tables were filthy. Windows filthy, probably cleaned with some nasty rag. Soup spoons filthy. So much so that they gave me throw away spoons. Ordered Mongolian beef. Didn’t stay to eat it. A kitchen fire began. Smoke filled the restaurant. Ashes flew like crazy. The waitress was coughing like crazy but the cooks barely opened the front door and one proceeded to leave the restaurant for a cigarette! I had my two babies with me and as I scrambled to get them out I told myself that I would report myself to child services for A.) bringing them in there B.) staying even after seeing all that grime but I redeemed myself by canceling the order, grabbing my kids and yelling about how disgusting the place was. For shame. Why in the F do other states not adopt the health inspectors grading system like California? What a disaster and not the first time I’ve encountered unsanitary conditions in a Seattle restaurant. Time to take a shower. I smell like burnt grease.

Okay, okay, many have said the dim sum is serviceable, I agree… But peeps, hear me now, I’m telling you, the BEST part of this place is the regular menu! If you need your dim sum fix, drop in pick something out of the warming area, or order off of their dim sum menu, but be prepared, they sell out fast, and there is a lot of «Chingrish» spoken here… lol… The regular menu is solid, Gramps wanted a beef dish, and Grams was hankering for roast duck. I opted for a Salt and pepper tofu, and of course we had to try their chow-fun, «dry» style. Needless to say, we were all in pure bliss… I’m drooling a bit as I type this out… seriously, no joke this is the real deal. Beef dish was with onions and ginger, okay, there was a load of fresh ginger slices, I dug into the beef, perfectly seasoned and extremely tender, melt in your mouth, for sure. We decided to get the«mix plate» of bbq, and opted for roast duck and char shu, duck was on the chilly side, I wish they could kept it warmer, but if they did, by the time we got there, 6pm-ish it would have been dried out. Char shu was non-Lofan style, deep rich and juicy, a nice marble to the pork and a decent portion. The chow fun was perfect, we opted for chicken, my Mom was super happy, it reminded her of the Maui Fair, from her childhood, man, that must be good stuff… Now, look past the stripmall, the limited parking and get in here to try it NOW…

Like others have said, this is definitely a take out spot although they do have a small table or two for those that want to eat in. I came in around 11AM on a Sunday to try to beat the rush but there were a number of customers coming and going in the time that I was there. I had a small order to-go that consisted of steamed humbao, fried taro dumplings, fried dumplings, steamed plain shrimp dumplings, and fried shrimp balls. Overall, the food was alright. Some dishes were better than others. The best dish I tried were the fried shrimp balls. They were well-seasoned, crunchy, and not too greasy. The taro dumplings were super greasy and kind of bland. The fried dumplings had a tasty mushroom filling but they too were dripping in grease. All of the fried items were made beforehand and sat in a case so that might have lead to them being a little on the limp side. The steamed shrimp dumplings were well-filled but also somewhat bland. The steamed humbao were pretty tasty and well-filled. The filling had a nice bit of meat and since they were steamed to order, they were piping hot. The dishes were a little hit-and-miss but none of them were downright bad. The prices are a steal and you can get a ton of food for around $ 10. They are in a small little strip center and share a tiny parking lot with other businesses so you may need to wait for a spot if you come during a busy time. Also, they are currently taking credit cards so they are no longer cash only!

Great spot for a cheap take-out dimsum all day. Okay quality, good enough for the price. They’ve got some variety going on on the menu, but don’t expect to get even the main dishes later in the evening: they run out of things. Also, it’s not a place to sit down and eat. Yes, they do have a few tables if you MUST have a bit right then and there, but it’s always too stuffy and greasy, the place is VERY tiny, it’s more of a whole in the wall than a restaurant. Best option is to take out. I’ve had a bad experience ordering with Eat24 app. I paid upfront with a card so I could come by to pick the food up right before work, with no time to spare. Arrived 1.5 hours later and they’re telling me they’re out of one of the 3 things I ordered. Alright, I scramble to pick something else instead since its been paid for already. When I get to work, I see that my fried shrimp dumplings that were clearly ordered correctly on the app, were steamed Ha Gao. I was so looking forward to fried ones! So out of 3 dishes I ordered, only 1 was right. It was extremely disappointing. I was so happy that this place finally got later hours and friendlier staff. But ever after the mixup with my food, I’m not very tempted to go there.

Came here with a bad case of the hangries. It’s a nice, cheap place within walking distance for me so I wanted to try it out. First off, the food is amazing! Got the chozhou dumplings(which are worth more than they cost in my opinion) and the Mongolian beef. Everything was perfectly cooked, seasoned, crispy when they should be crispy and juicy when they should be juicy!

Is it possible that this place got better? It totally is! I got my usuals. Baked BBQ Hum Bao: YUM. So fluffy and a nice serving of filling. Ate one while I waited and had to order more. Steam BBQ Hum Bao: they’ve changed the filling slightly and it is tasty! Ha Gow: Delicious. The skin is nice and thin with large portions of shrimp. Shrimp Rice Noodle: The noodles are thinner and not quite as gummy now. Although I miss the chicken flavor they used to add. They could use more flavor. Custard Bun: Nothing has changed. Still amazing. BBQ Pork: The quality of pork was on point this time. Super tasty!
