Acceptable fish & chips, but at these prices there are better alternatives that offer table service instead of a fast food counter.

On a recent connection between flights I was thrilled to be able to get my duty-​free shopping done AND grab a bowl of clam chowder ($ 5.99) for my onward flight. As long as there isn’t a long line, this is about as fast as food can get if you’re in a rush to catch a flight, since all the cashier needs to do is ladle it into a container. And it’s a wonderful soup — thick and creamy with plenty of seafood without any foul seafood taste. Ivar’s is an old-​time Seattle institution. Too bad Mr. Ivar Haglund is no longer around to sing folksongs to customers, but may his motto live on: KEEP CLAM (and carry on!).
