Decent enough I guess but not sure if I would ever return. Cozy neighborhood spot with good service. Prices were on the high side for what you got. $ 16.50 for a just OK burger? Eh, not worth it. I would stop in for happy hour but would skip for anything else. DFTBA ~ chase

I came here a couple weeks ago on a Saturday with my girlfriend and her roommate. We wanted a chill place to watch some college football games, and Henry and Oscar’s fit the bill. We had a few drinks(they had $ 5 wells and $ 5 glasses of wine) and decided to try the jumbo wicked wings. They were definitely jumbo and the sauce was tangy and had a good amount of spice to it. Our bartender even gave us extra wing sauce when we requested it. This is a great place to come for happy hour or to watch a football game on the weekend!

Bartenders have all been great and make delicious cocktails. Love the ambiance. Good food. Not great but still good. Biggest drawback is the price. If you’re not worried about money or feel like treating yourself(or someone else), I’d give it a solid 4 stars. Seeing as I do worry about money though, 3 stars. I sure do like when I can treat myself though. :-)

This past Saturday night was date night for my hubby and I and it also happened to be game 5 in the Stanley Cup Finals. We Unilocaled«Sports Bars» in Belltown and were enticed by the classiness of this little nook on the corner of 4th and Cedar. Our server was friendly, attentive and hospitable. She made us feel welcome and encouraged us to stay and finish the game, even when it was clear we were finished ordering drinks. I really appreciate that. The red house wine was a Columbia Crest H3 Cabernet Sauvignon. Quite tasty. I definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a quiet, sophisticated, yet laid back spot to grab a drink and/or watch a game.

This place is the bomb! Mark Stern is the best! Haven’t met an owner like this in many a year. His wife is nice as can be as well! Lots of great drinks and great food! Had the margaritas and the various pizzas, pork sliders, etc. Everything was great!

Came here for Happy Hour with some friends after we saw Great Gatsby at the Big Picture. The Big Picture was giving out drink coupons to Henry and Oscar’s, so of course we wanted to give it a try. The drinks were delicious(the same cocktails that the Big Picture has – give Den of Sin a try!) and we all ordered some food off the Happy Hour menu. We got a seat by the fire, and had a great time chatting and drinking. That said, even with Happy Hour prices, it certainly wasn’t a cheap day out. Our movie had been a matinée so we were just wearing jeans and graphic tees – and we felt really out of place. I felt bad for all the older gentlemen having some young ruffians like us ruining their atmosphere!

Sister restaurant to Big Picture. Decent supper club with great ambiance. Food is somewhat overpriced /average. Good cocktails. Good service.

Super mediocre. The pizza tastes like those pizza flavored bagels from Safeway. The calamari was below grade BUT the prawn were amazing so props for that. Not so good that I’ll come back, but you know. if you’re there anyway, order the prawns.

Good happy hour menu, great drinks. Happy hour goes until 6:30 and starts again at 9 which is nice. Friendly staff and friendly locals make for a good time! The owner continues to try making improvements, listening to customers, tweaking the menu and the look… it should be a regular stop for locals! If only they were open on Sundays…

Nice place to stop for a good drink and some quick bar food. I don’t know much about the dinners. Nice décor, but I didn’t find anything that knocked my socks off.

Went here on Friday night. I really liked the ambiance and the music. The service was great and the food was very tasty. We had two orders of the calamari and we shared the ribs. The only thing i didn’t like was the huge tv screens in the dining area. They were playing sports that you couldn’t hear and no one was watching! It was annoying and distracting. I think they are trying to be too many things. Fancy/Sports Bar/Lounge. Great have the tvs in the bar or whatever or have them on game nights but for no reason… like i said annoying. Next time we will definitely just sit in the bar area next to the windows ;)

I was taking the 85yo maternal unit out for something different and ran into a wee roadblock — turns out the entire place is 21+. Now, for an awful lot of folks that isn’t any big deal. All good. But for those of us that both lawfully carry a handgun and are more than a bit fanatic about both legality and responsibility this was not a happy surprise. Barred by law from entering the establishment while armed, and barred by common sense from leaving such things in the car(after all, if then-Police Chief Kerlikowske had HIS gun stolen out of his car… why should I think I’m all special and immune from such mishap — a responsible gun owner does not make such opportunities available to the criminal class), particularly after dark… we had to move on. It really looked like a nice place from out there on the sidewalk and perhaps, now that I know that they are a bar that happens to serve food rather’n a restaurant with a bar perhaps I can better plan around their peculiarities. But sudden change of plan w/85yo along did not leave me all happy.

This is definitely one of the few places that I’ve discovered because somebody else scheduled a gathering there. Thank you, friends and organizers!(You know who you are.) When you first walk in, the space looks tiny. Definitely doesn’t seem like they have the space for a big group. That is… not the case at all. They have a big room in the back that has plenty of booths and tables. I’ve been here for happy hour with friends and for KOMO’s launch party for the second season of the tv show Revenge(which included watching the new episode). The space was great for both kinds of gatherings! I haven’t sampled much of their menu so far. I had some happy hour calamari, but I’ve never found life-changing or especially fantastic calamari anywhere. I’ll have to try their steak one of these days. The cocktails have all been good, though, and the employees were awesome each time.

This review is based on my one and only experience here as the guest of a friend’s party. We had the back room reserved. I of course don’t know the terms of their agreement to reserve the space, but the result was horrible. There were 40+ people at the time we arrived. We said hello to the guest of honor and made our way through the crowd to a booth in the back. We put our coats in and just as we began to sit down, one of the employees(manager of some sort, he seemed to be the point person) told us that the booths were reserved. We replied that we were with the party and he corrected us saying«they are reserved for potential dinner guests»…really, dude? You think someone is going to come into this back room where there is a very lively, crowded group of people drinking and sit in a booth for dinner? Ooookay. Since there is nowhere to sit, we hover over the booth that we are not allowed to sit in. Thirsty, we try to find a server. None in sight. Hubby offers to put in our orders at the bar. He comes back empty handed. When he tried to order a drink at the bar, he was told that since he was part of the group in the back, he would have to wait for our assigned server. He wasn’t allowed to order at the bar. Mind you, we are paying for our drinks — these aren’t on a group tab. Strike 2. And now we begin our wait. Ordering 1 round and paying for that round end up taking nearly 2 hours. They had ONE server assigned to our entire group(the group who was forbidden to order at the bar) and he looked absolutely petrified. I’ve never seen someone who visibly looked scared to take drink orders. He would timidly walk through the crowd with a drink, hoping someone would claim it. Of course he was overwhelmed since there were not enough servers to begin with, but if you’re going to leave it up to one person, perhaps someone who isn’t suffering from social anxiety would be a better fit. On top of all of this, the Manhattan that was ordered with top shelf bourbon was served with cheapo well whiskey. Total fail all around.

Love this place as the happy hour is great and their french fries with chees fondue is one of my favorite things I have ever eaten… BUT they have an awful wine selection and being in the PNW there should be wonderful Oregon and Washington wines served by the glas — Hogue which cost $ 8 at rite aid is their happy hour wine — this classy place does not have classy wine by the glass and is often out of the wine by the bottle — disappointing for sure. The happy hour food is great — but the full menu has no healthy choices this again is the PNW and we like vegtables and healthy farm to table choices. If you are looking for Happy hour this is the place if you are looking for a nice dinner with wine go somewhere else!

I’m going to start this review cataloging everything that went wrong at Henry and Oscar’s but I’m going to ask you to keep in mind as you read the long list that I gave this place a 4-star review… I ordered the NY Strip, medium rare, with a loaded baked potato. He asked if I wanted the potato first, or if I wanted it to come out with my steak… Both at the same time, I told him. He came back to me a moment later to remind me that I got a side with my steak. I pointed out that I thought that my loaded baked potato *was* the side… «Oh yeah,» the waiter said. While he was there I told him I’d really like a cup of the French onion soup to come out early(while my wife was having her cheese-fondue french fries). My wife ordered the chopped salad for her meal. Instead, a wedge salad came out. We sent it back. The waiter came out and apologized. Then apologized again. Then a third time. Then two other restaurant employees came and checked on us and I heard one of them talking to our waiter in a disciplinarian manner. When my steak showed up, it was medium rare with no loaded baked potato. We were running short on time to eat(due in no part to anything having to do with Henry and Oscar), so I didn’t mention the potato. When the bill came, I was not charged for the baked potato, but I was charged for the soup… what’s up with the potato. If I didn’t get the potato, wasn’t the soup my «side» dish? The reason that all of this doesn’t impact my feelings for the place are two-fold. First, all of this can be chalked up to one person, our waiter, who seemed young, inexperienced, and new… I can’t fault Henry and Oscar’s for giving the kid a shot… He’ll either get better or they’ll fire him. I’m hoping the former because he was a nice kid. Now for my actual review of Henry and Oscar’s… I love this place! The atmosphere is wonderful. I like the bar entrance and the raised tables at the windows in the bar area. I there’s a couch near a fireplace at the back of the bar area which transitions into the dining area. The dining area is a throwback to any hipster club of the rat-pack era. The music is perfect for the setting. There is a sitting/lounging area where more tables could have gone, but I love the relaxed atmosphere that the comfy cushion-chairs/benches provides. Henry and Oscar’s is a great place for a date. It’s casual and intimate at the same time. It’s an easy place to hang out. It’s smooth. It’s also not a touristy place. Everyone feels«from the neighborhood.»

I came in on Sunday for the happy hour with my friend. Although the food was good and decently priced, they charged me $ 3.50 for my Diet Coke. And another $ 3.50 for my refill. I was being responsible driver and paid $ 7 for it. Don’t bother. Baked potato was good and the fish tacos were alright, but as a principle, they lost me as a customer.

I love this place. I’ve never once had a bad experience. I can’t really comment on the food, as I’ve only had the cooked greens(asparagus), but I thought they were cooked perfectly and came out the perfect temperature with great flavor. I love the Martini here as well. I’m a huge fan of Beefeater Gin, and this is what they’ve used everytime with a long lemon twist… my absolute fav! I also love the wonderful mixture of gin, vodka, and Lillet. If you do as well, try the Casino Royale(aka Vesper)! I’ve sat at the bar several times, and service has been no less than stellar. It’s the same when I’ve sat on the couch by the fireplace. I have never sat in the back room, so I can’t comment on the service there. I really do love this place, and it’s nice to walk into an establishment after only 3 or 4 times and have at least two or three employees recognize you and welcome you back. That, to me, is very impressive. So I’d definitely say give Henry & Oscar’s a try if you haven’t already!

I finally went to this place, I have heard really bad feedback from the neighbors and the behavior of one of the owners towards women specially, but I decided to try it to be able to talk about the food. The place is beautiful, great décor… too bad the food was pretty mediocre. So between bad food and acting improperly towards the neighbors(plus being aggressive towards women) I see no reason to come back… You can eat much better in other places close by, and some are equally trendy.

My boyfriend and I went there a couple weeks ago. I am a little late in writing this review. It was fantastic! We were seated very quickly in the dining room. I ordered the Beef Stroganoff and it was delicious!!! My boyfriend ordered a cheeseburger and fries and he loved his as well. For dessert we had the sundae and the chef came out and presented it himself. It was delicious… homemade chocolate sauce on it. The owner was very nice and interactive with the guests. He stopped by our table to see how we were doing and moved on. The food took a minute to get to us so don’t be surprised by that — it is because they are making your order as you order it… they don’t have a bucket of sauce back there that they are using for their stroganoff. We will definitely go back, in fact we are planning on going back for their Sunday brunch — they make chicken and waffles.
