This isn’t really a review about their food, just a short comment on the place because it’s forever closed. This was the only restaurant where I can say that I knew the owner and they knew me, before I even walked in the door, she already rang up the cash register and asked me to have a seat. The owners were the sweetest ladies, the chef was one of their husband, he was awesome too! She acted as one of my Aunts and would always asked me about how college was and always encouraged me. When the place closed I honestly didn’t know, there was no sign on the door or a word from her, I’m pretty sure that Wendy, on the sisters that own the place, didn’t want to go through the heartache of telling each and everyone of her regulars that she was on longer going to run the restaurant. I could already tell you that she would’ve teared up every time some was going to say goodbye. Her, the staff, and her restuant will be greatly missed in the Chinatown district. The place was open for over 33 years and now its closed. So sad. I honestly wished that I had one more meal of my hot pepper diced chicken. Sigh.

We felt so welcome here, like its your Aunt behind the counter, and your Uncle and Cousin cooking. Everything was perfect, we sat in full view of the kitchen, wok, no wonder everything was so quick, its flaming hot back there. Soup was perfect, I got the beef noodle, GF got the Szechuan noodle, both had excellent flavors. GF’s soup reminded her of soup from south Philippines. I look forward to trying the yakasoba noodles.

Best casual dining Chinese food in all of Seattle. Fast and friendly service. Wendy is an omnipresent owner who runs a tight ship. Restaurant is super clean, which is a hard find in Chinatown. Stop by and say hi to Wendy. She runs Chinatown.

I worked down the street from here before I k new about this place. My husband & I love coming here for lunch. We recommend the hot & sour soup & generals chicken. The food is always so good and we are always able to split our meal & still be full. Side note, when you leave listen for the woman manager to tell you thank you 12 times before you get out the door! So funny.

This place is the best!!! The owner is awesome, very welcoming, and the service is crazy fast. Dishes are more than enough food and cheap. Also, insanely delicious. I usually order soup here and always come if I am getting a cold, I swear it goes away instantly with a little food from Green Village. I eat here about once a month or more if I can! It’s cash only and only open for lunch(pro tip: if you have Chase and you just want to eat lunch instead of spend whole afternoon in the ID, park in Uwajamaya. Get your parking validated when you take out cash from the little Chase bank in Uwajamaya, then hop over to Green Village for lunch. Amounts to more or less free parking since I never have cash on hand.) Favorite things on the menu which you should totally try: The hot and sour soup included with most entrees House special fried rice Shrimp chow mein Szechuan spicy noodle soup(my go to, it is the best!!) Pork and pickle noodle soup Noodles with pork gravy(kind of like a Chinese take on spaghetti — spicy and savory in the best way!) Wonton soup(the broth is awesome and light) Cold noodles I’m not crazy about the curry here or duck soup or seafood noodle soup but in general = amazingness all around on the menu, everything is good!

I used to go to this restaurant for lunch regularly, but since my office moved from the area, it’s a little inconvenient. I was in the neighborhood and since it was a holiday the parking is free. I went in and the owner instantly recognized me. I ordered the hot pepper chicken, which is one of my favorites. There is an ample portion served with pickled cabbage and bean sprouts with 2 scoops of rice. The mix if the chicken, peanuts and bamboo shoots is just right. Add in a bunch of red chili peppers and you get the right amount of heat. The atmosphere is like a neighborhood restaurant, with friendly service at the counter. The food comes out really fast, and hot. One thing about the food is that it is made right after you order it. The reason you know is that the owner shouts out your order to the cooks immediately after you pay. I would love to give this place five stars but the parking is a pain. The City of Seattle’s code of not building more parking inside the city makes it tough to visit places like this. If you are looking for a great value and excellent food head to the Green Village. If you are there during lunch time you may want to get your order to go. The place is small and is full around 11:50 to 12:45.

This is my go to place when I’m in Seattle. Awesome customer service. They haven’t seen me in months and still remember me and my order! The owners, i think they’re sisters, are always so cheerful and calls everyone, «my dear.» Like everyone has pointed out they are only accepting cash. The House Special fried rice does not have as much flavor as before, but it’s still super delicious and I love the complimentary hot and sour soup. My boyfriend goes specifically for that soup. The only down part is that they close around 5PM go early!

Got takeout. My gf and I had the hot and sour soup and also a pepper chicken. The people that work their were very friendly but the food was sadly not amazing. The pepper chicken was just meh in flavor and the chicken was diced very small. As for the hot and sour it was extremely sour and definitely not the best I’ve had. The prices were definitely right though, very good deal. Perhaps I didn’t order the right things, but based on the reviews on the hot and sour I was definitely expecting better flavor.

Only one dish you need to order here… HOUSESPECIALFRIEDRICE!. For a little over $ 5, you get a cup of tasty hot & sour soup and a platter of fried rice. The hot & sour soup is delicious, and it goes just right with the fried rice. You can choose from pork, chicken, beef, shrimp or house style fried rice. It typically comes with green onions and scrambled egg style pieces. Unless I am really hungry, I usually eat half and take the rest home as a second meal. Just remember, they take cash only.

I love this place! Not just for the food but because of the way I am greeted every time I come in. The prices are spot on. The best Chinese food in Seattle hands down.

Always on the quest for hot and sour soup, I followed Unilocal to this place and I’m glad I did. Green Village has more of a fast food feel as you order from the counter and seat yourself. Not a problem, just an FYI. The place is clean and friendly. Large menu with a lot of variety and very reasonable prices. My soup was excellent and will require many follow up visits!

Mmmm my go-to place for when I crave fried rice… especially if I’m super hungry… The portions in my opinion are pretty generous, it comes with a side hot and sour soup. *slurp* I love the fact that the fried rice is moist and not dry(y‘all know what i’m talking about). Customer service is good, very nice and attentive. The lady there makes me feel like I a part of the family, when she say«anything else, my dear…» She’s the sweetest and makes the mean 10x better! Cash only! So bring yo‘ dollars, dollars… and make it rain in this joint. =)

Amazing flavor in food. I love the noodles and fried rice here. There is always good flavors in their food. Their portions and flavor is always consistent. The owner is also very nice and welcoming. She tries to remember you and learn what you like to eat. The price is also very reasonable. The only con is that they are open at inconvenient hours for me. They close early on weekdays at 5 pm and they aren’t open on sundays. I’m not usually in the Seattle area except for sundays. And I usually get off work at 4:30 pm so by the time I get to chinatown they would have just closed.

It’s one of those rare places that stands the test of time because they’ve truly found their niche and stuck with it. Wendy, the owner, is always there to greet you when you come in. She often remembers everyone by name and will already have your favorite dishes cooking when you walk through the door. The place is small, but welcoming nonetheless. The menu is rather limited– but that’s what makes it so great! They’re a lunch place, and they do that extremely well. The Mongolian beef is SOBOMB and I get the chicken cold noodles every time on carb day. They also have the smokiest sour plum juice I’ve ever had in Seattle! Service is fast and the flavor is consistent every time. I LOVEGREENVILLAGE!!!

Typically I don’t like to review based on service, but Green village really does provide exceptionally friendly and useful service. I have ordered from Green Village for large parties and the hostess has always been kind and very accommodating. On top of all that, the food is also great! Delicious house special chow mein and fried rice. Although it is a little on the oily side, it’s probably the tastiest fried rice and chow mein in Chinatown and it my go-to for those Chinese food essentials.

5 stars for the house special fried rice. I was craving some fried rice yesterday and convinced a co-worker to go with me to Green Village as I had read so many good reviews. The woman behind the counter greeted us with the biggest smile and took our order to go. Each of our orders even came with a cup of hot and sour soup which was unexpected. This had to be some of the best fried rice I have ever had. It was a little salty but I was OK with that as I usually have to add salt to my food. The soup was perfect as well with a good balance of hot and sour. I am definitely coming back. Just talking about it makes me want to go again today for lunch. YUM!

I swear Wendy remembered my husband and I after us not coming here for a few years, and if she didn’t, she played it perfectly because I sure couldn’t tell. She is really the most friendly person I’ve encountered in this city. Though I love the fried rice, after reading all of the Unilocal reviews, I had to try the cold chicken noodles with cucumbers, egg and sesame peanut sauce. It was freaking amazing. I ate the whole bowl and wanted to cry afterward because I was so stuffed. I wasn’t willing to leave a single bite or drop of sauce in the bowl. I also downed my included cup of hot and sour soup(I forgot how light, non-greasy and fresh this soup can be) plus quite a few bites of my husband’s combination fried rice, which he never is able to finish(normally we easily split an order and are still stuffed). It’s the best fried rice on the planet. If you live anywhere near Seattle and you aren’t eating here on a regular basis, you’re just plain CRAZY.

If you told me that you could get better fried rice in Washington, I would flat out accuse you of lying. Green Village Restaurant is simply unrivaled by any other place that specializes in fried rice. Come here if you want a tasty dish that will spoil your taste buds. I don’t believe it can get any better than this. Despite the bland name and appearance of this place, there truly are miracles to be found here. Just step in and you’ll be greeted by one of the friendliest servers you’ll ever meet in the food business. It’s the same lady every time, and I get the feeling that she always appears to be in such a good mood because she knows how badly she’s beating the competition. To my knowledge, she speaks at least four languages: English, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Taiwanese. There probably won’t be a language barrier problem here. She also seems to remember frequent customers; who wouldn’t want to come back here all the time? The routine for me here is the same every time. Order their house special fried rice, take a number, and wait. In the meantime, slurp on hot and sour soup. It’s not the most authentic Chinese food, but it’s good and comes with the meal. No reason to complain. The rice comes out fairly quickly; they make this stuff all the time. It comes steaming hot and in a mound on a tray. Just the smell of it is extraordinary. They toss everything you’d expect to find in fried rice in there; you can tell by the name«house special fried rice» that it’s one giant amalgamation. They give you a pretty good amount of rice. You probably won’t finish it and still be hungry, but you may very well be craving more anyway. Prices here are also very low for some reason, though they only accept cash. They must make enough money from all the people coming here. The only real complaint I have with this place is their store hours; they’re only open from 11AM to 5PM! No late night dinners here, but you could always just order a lot to go. I’m just sad that if I ever have to leave Seattle and move to another city, I might not be able to find anything this good there.
