Goldmyer Hotsprings/NW Wilderness Programs

Soooo this is exactly what my tired old body needed… and to be honest will be a vacation memory that I’ll cherish for the rest of my life.
Amazing drive, slightly adventurous with a 4wd truck and decent weather. Surprisingly there were a few people that made the drive to the trailhead with low clearance vehicles… Pay attention to the directions, they were solid.
Fantastic scenery on the hike along the river. It was a bit long but fairly easy.
Hit the website and be sure to make a reservation FAR in advance to visit this majestic place. Leave your clothes and stress behind…

Very nice hot springs, beautiful with a secluded feeling. The water temperature was great, with three different options; the hottest water is in the cave, less hot in the second pool, and the the least hot in the bottom pool. The water flow was good, with fresh, hot water running from a hole from within the cave, making its way to the two other other pools. It wasn’t too crowded when I went; I only saw about six other people there. The hike to get to the hot springs was a nice part of the experience, following a beautiful forested back road along the side of a river, with creeks and waterfalls on the way.
To have a good experience, a few notes. The drive to get to the trail is maybe a couple of hours (I can’t remember exactly how long) along a seriously pot holed road. A rugged car is highly recommended. And the hike is about 4.5 miles each way, mostly flat but with some small inclines/​declines. If you’re not camping there, be prepared for the hike back, possibly in the dark. I would recommend good flashlights and rain gear. A bike might be possible to make the hike easier.

A very memorable experience. Goldmyer is a non-​profit that runs/​maintains the hotsprings and only allows 20 people per day to enjoy. At one point, the natural hotsprings were a popular unregulated hang out spot and they got trashed. Goldmyer limits the volume and thus maintains this magnificent space clean.
My partner and I backpacked in from Show Lake. We were unaware that Goldmyer accepts cash only but the nice groundskeeper (who stays on the premise for an entire season w/​her partner) allowed us to use the springs and camp as long as we promised to pay once we were back to «civilization». This was easily done by calling in a few days later with our credit card info.
Day use is $ 15/​person and it’s only an additional $ 5 per site to camp for a night. Both are well worth it. The campsites (there are about 15 or so) are pretty close together but are absolutely gorgeous. Standard space to put a tent, fire pit, and a «picnic table» set up with natural logs. Site included bear canisters which go up in the tree at night. These spots are right by the stream so you don’t have to hike out for drinking water! Wonderful camping grounds. I highly recommend coming here, whether by hiking in or driving (roads were closed this past summer, so I suggest calling in to make sure before driving over).
Also, make a reservation online. Don’t take a gamble like us. The only reason we were able to walk in is because the road closure prevented most visitors from coming and only those of us willing to hike long hours were able to make it there.
Lastly, not sure what the other reviews about rude service are all about but we had nothing but the most friendly interactions with both the groundskeepers when we visited. They were very informative and engaged in some small talk apart from answering our questions. The groundskeepers do rotate every 3 months though, so who knows if I had different people.
NOTE: There are no showers but there is a clean little outdoor restroom facility.

We hiked to the hot springs today and really loved it! Friendly care takers, the pools were clean and hot and the place was beautiful. Our party of four had the place to ourselves for quite a while before others arrived. Only drawback was the long road of huge potholes and the hike got a little long. Overall, I would definitely come back.

Although the hiking trail to the actual hotspring was a long way, it was mainly flat and easy to do. I went during the winter and it was pretty cold, but the hot spring felt really nice after all that work.

I have not been to the Goldmyer Hot Springs because making a reservation was impossible. I called them yesterday and left a message stating that I would like to visit with my family for Mother’s Day. I received a call back about 6 hours later from a completely rude and unprofessional gentleman. The first thing he said was that he understood that I wanted to bring children to the hot springs. He said that children tend to leave trash and damage the reservation. After that, everything out of his mouth was him completely trying to get me to NOT come. He read down a list of reasons why I should not make the trip. The long drive, the dirt road, the hours and hours that it would take to get there, how it would be a really long day for my children. He even went as far as to say «So, you really plan on getting up at 4:00am to be here at 9:00am.» Really? How is that any of his business what time we get up to take our trip? I have a lot of friends who have gone to Goldmyer. I know all about it. I know about the dirt road, I know how long it takes to get there. I know how long the hike is. My kids and I go hiking every weekend and we have for years. The whole phone conversation with him, he was literally trying to get me to not come there. My children were excited to go on this tiny adventure but after being on the phone with this rude man for 20 minutes basically trying to prove to him that we were fully capable of making this tiny trip and not ruining the reservation, I finally gave up and said «Ok, I’m going to change my mind. We’ll find something else to do for Mother’s Day.» He very rudely said «GOOD! AND DON’T EVER CALL BACK HERE AGAIN!.» I am literally outraged. I have never been spoken to like this before. I can not believe this gentleman works in customer service.

Absolutely gorgeous!!!’ Well worth the hike for a day or camping. Bit of a bumpy drive — 4 wheel recommended.

They have a great concept. It does not play out so well.
It is hard to find– ok who cares?
It is not well cleaned or maintained. And people are drunk and drinking. One guy had his dog tied on a short rope about 25 feet away from everyone. The dog needed water and possibly ‘to go”; was barking constantly. The owner did nothing and when I spoke to him about it I was told to ‘shut up”.
The water itself is not very warm.
Summary:\wilderness, unsanitary, unclean, rude people.

Been a few years but would love to go back.
Hard to find.
You have to call a number in Greenlake for reservations.
They will send you a secret map to find the location, no signs to follow.
You have to use a 4×4 to reach it, 1 – 2 hours on forest roads.
Forge the river (if it is not flowing high) and hike to the caretakers cabin to check in.
From there another short hike and behold, hot springs.
Not huge, they limit to under 20 people per day.
Relax in the cave or one of the 2 small overflow pools.
Set atop a cliff right by a waterfall, doesn’t get any better.
Have been to hot springs through Japan, this is the best we have in the Northwest.

I haven’t been able to find the page for the hot springs themselves (which are located 25 miles from North Bend), so I’ll just review here.
The Goldmyer Hot Springs are amazing!
The walk to the springs creates a wonderful journey. The caretakers are friendly. I absolutely loved relaxing in a warm tub (or a hot cave!) while staring at trees and listening to a near-​by waterfall. Wish we could have camped instead of having to walk back to the car in the dark/​rain, but we figured going to work the next day was kind of important.
I also like the limit on daily visitors. It’s for conservation reasons, but I also just like that it can’t get too crowded. This also means that it’s VERY important for you to reserve your spot! We went on Thanksgiving and it was cold so thankfully 2 extra friends were fine, but if it had been busier… well, I personally wouldn’t want to have to walk the 4.5 miles back to the car without sitting in some hot springs!
Just a heads up– when we went, pretty much everybody chose to go naked (into the pools). Might want to be aware of that if it’s not something you’re comfortable seeing.
