My neighbors recommended this place and boy am I glad that they did. It was my first time eating Ethiopian food and was it ever flavorful! I recommend the veggie combo and one of the chicken dishes. Yum!

My fellow Unilocalers are spot on with their reviews for Gojo. Located off of Aurora and 135th across the street from KFC. A cozy, beautifully decorated, authentic Ethiopian restaurant. The food is FANTASTIC. The veggie combo seems to be pretty popular. The wait staff was very kind, and we didn’t have to wait long for our food. I would give a 5 star review, if it was just based on the food. Unfortunately, we experienced the same problem that other reviews have mentioned. They don’t keep their posted hours. They are supposed to open at 11:00 and we sat in our car for almost 40 minutes waiting for them to open. Once they did, it looked like nobody bothered to clean before they closed the night before… floors were being swept and tables were dirty. We will give it another try if we’re in the area… but definitely for their food, and not for the service.

Food is on point. Veggie combo was the best thing I’ve had In a long time. I can put food away better than most but I couldn’t finish this without a strategic 1 hour break in between sessions. $ 15 for the meal and $ 4 for a beer, I got the Harar which was great.

Recently ate at this place for the first time. We arrived and one other table was occupied. We ordered the vegetarian combo and the meat combo. Food arrived in 10 minutes and was very good. The best Ethiopian we have eaten in Seattle. We used to eat a lot of Ethiopian when in college and we had numerous Ethiopian friends and while living in Washington DC. Quit eating it here because it was never bad, but always kind of bland. Ready to try Ethiopian again and again and will come here again. Cost $ 40 with tip for 4 people and we were all very full.

Authentic Ethiopian Run by an Ethiopian family. Great restaurant to taste Ethiopian. Be here to have the best Marinated African meal… Waiters are friendly and served food quick.

I love Ethiopian and have been to dozens of Ethiopian restaurants throughout the United States. I always get the same thing, the veggie combo, so I can get to taste of as many vegetarian options as I can. This restaurant is one of the two best I’ve ever been to(the other one is Awash in LA). The flavors are complex and really well balanced. Just the right amount of sour, spice, and seasoning. The restaurant has a really nice ethnic atmosphere as well, including some traditional tables. Wished I lived in Seattle, I’d eat here all the time.

My fave ethiopian restaurant I’ve tried in Seattle :) Food is delicious especially the vegetarian dishes! I especially love the green bean and cabbage dishes. The server acted surprised when we wanted to try the dried meat dish. As if we wldnt like it. It was delicious! Great to eat their w a group.

We returned today after a year. The new menu is improved. The place got polished up a bit. We ordered a meat combination plate. The wait time was correct, maybe 10 minutes, but the food was fabulous. The spices were strong but not overpowering. The heat level on a couple of the meat piles was hot, and in a good way. The injera was fresh tasting. Service was prompt and courteous. The price was very reasonable. The African sounding music was perfect. We will go back in less than a year this time, probably before the end of the year.

I wish I could give zero stars on this review. I have been here for about an hour and no food. Service is very poor. We’ve had to remind them of our drink orders 3 different times and no concern from the waitstaff. I would recommend Saba in the International District … This place has very very poor customer service.

Visit #1: Dine In; 5⁄5 Delicious and attentive — although we were the only occupied table in there so not saying much. Visit #2: Food was fine. They don’t pick up the phone when trying to place a to go order. The wait time for food is REALLY long. We have been sitting here for…45 minutes for food. They don’t offer us water. There is no AC or fresh air here. It’s super stuffy :( Visit #3: Called in and they answered! Yay! They’re quick and impersonal but who cares lol! The order took 20 minutes this time, not bad. It was a bigger order. Visit #4: 15 minutes for the food to come out. Nicely packed. They don’t do kitfo raw — I really wish they did. Or like… medium rare instead of fully cooked. Kitfo(raw) is more authentic and 10x more delicious. They don’t have Ethiopian cheese that all other restaurants give as sides — which is a bummer. The cheese is suppose to calm down the heat of certain dishes and makes it more authentic. We got a veggie combo that was switched up with someone else’s who orderd the same + extra injera. We got extra injera though! The other guy was probably like…“this isn’t my order” when he got home lol. I love Ethiopian food like it’s my mommas cooking. And this is the only place for milessss around so I’ll keep coming here if I have to…

This review is not about the quality of the food. I would like to try this place but since I get off work later in the evening I never seem to make it on time. The problem is their hours indicate they close at 10pm and when I rush to place a pick up order at 9:15pm the lady says they are closed. Once is OK but this has happened a few times and it’s frustrating when you are craving for a specific food. Please change your hours on the web or stay open during business hours so customers can plan accordingly.

Cute little place that is definitely easy to miss. The food here is great. I got the veg combo to split with a friend. It’s definitely enough food for three people. This place is so close to work/home so I’m definitely coming back. They are about to change their schedule and will only be open for dinner soon. The staff was friendly but not really attentive. We needed napkins and had to get up and ask for them. Nobody checked on us either. Still the service we did receive was nice and friendly.

Great food sketchy service, we have been there three or four times and it takes forever to be served and there is only served not service. The food is great the service is less than adequate. Makes me sad to go elsewhere when we are hungry.

Really lovely meal. It’s a bit intimidating from the parking lot as floor to ceiling curtains were drawn on all the windows, but the«open» sign was illuminated so we went inside. They have lots of tables and chairs in the front, and some more fun seating options towards the back. Veggie combo was wonderful and only $ 13. Great service. Women working were super friendly and took great care of us, and also allowed us space to linger(the restaurant was only halfway full, so we didn’t feel too badly about continuing to chat for a bit after our meal).

If you are looking for a cozy romantic eclectic place to eat this is your spot. Gaja is an authentic adorable family owned and operated business located right in front of Sam’s club. Do not be fooled by the strip mall appearance, just open the door and immediately smell the aromatic wonderful aromas! We ordered the meat combo plate for just 15.00. This was more than enough food for my husband and myself. We had lamb, two kinds of beef, lentils, pea pureed, string beans and a huge fresh salad! And I think I’m missing something. Oh yes!!! The homemade cottage cheese prepared daily! Oh, what creamy mouth watering addition to the plate, and of course the injira bread which there was plenty of. We were stuffed and had leftovers to take home! Gojo does not disappoint.

Fantastic place. The staff are courteous and since we had no idea what to do, or what to order, the staff guided us through their menu and never made us feel uncomfortable. The portions are deceivingly filling. I would recommend you not to order anything else until you have finished your first order… or be ready to take some stuff home. Awesome place, period.
