I’ve never had a better foil from anywhere else. Berlin is amazing!!! She is truly an artist when it come to hair color. I’m blonde and very picky, she does it perfect every time.

Just moving from Colorado to Seattle I had to find another hair stylist and wasn’t getting great luck in finding someone I can trust with my hair(I LOVE my hair) finally someone told me to try Gene Juarez, I absolutely love it! I saw Stephanie and she did what I wanted but gave me other ideas of what to maybe try next time, but no pressure to try it. Thank you so much, I finally found a hair stylist in Seattle!

I absolutely LOVE the staff and stylists. Kyle and Chloe are fantastic and treat me really well. I also very much enjoy receiving a manicure and pedicure from London. Also, Ferguson is very talented at giving facials.

First of all, this was my first time in. It was late, and I honestly didn’t think I would be able to book an appointment anyway. But they fit me in. I went for a mani pedi. I figured I would give Gene Juarez a shot, seeing as that my only other experience with them was in California 10 years ago and she butchered my hair. So I went in for my later than usual appointment. The front desk staff was very friendly. They offered me a beverage while I waited. The woman who did my nails was obviously experienced and cared very much about her job. She had been there for 18 years and it showed. My nails were done very well. Ther reason I am giving them a 3 out of 5 stars is because they are grossly overpriced. The gal who did my nails herself gets a 5⁄5.

Three stars because I got decent service and I’m sure they do other things better, but I would definitely not recommend them for a men’s cut. I tried them out because I’ve struggled to find a good barbershop in Seattle– I’m a basic/low maintenance kind of guy, but still want a haircut that doesn’t make me look like a poor college student. The place is «girl fancy», not my style but I assumed they would give a damn good cut– particularly for the $ 70 they quoted me when scheduling. Figured I would spend the money and see what the difference is. The answer is, nothing. The woman sat me down at a chair that was still dirty from the last cut, and seemed to really struggle with men’s hairstyles. I explained what I wanted(a simple casual with a part), and after about 20 min she asked what I thought, and I literally didn’t understand that she was finished. My hair was weirdly fluffy from the shampoo she used, and she had spiked it up like a middle school boy. There was no part, and it seemed pretty uneven. I gave her some feedback to correct it, and it got slightly better. Like, enough to be comfortable to leave and fix it on my own. Bottom line– if you are a guy, save your money and go to great clips. You’ll get the same quality cut for $ 50 less.

I went to the Northgate Gene Juarez today to take the plunge into a full balayage. After some less than pleasant experiences with hair color(not at this salon), I was nervous. However, I was booked with Carissa and she was EXCELLENT! She’s a newer colorist(2 years?) but she’s very friendly and talented. She made sure not to over-promise on my hair and we discussed that I might not get the same results as my Pinterest pictures(I had year-old dark brown color in my hair). I was caught off-guard by the Corrective Color Waiver I was asked to sign, which only made me more nervous that I was signing away any liability for my hair being completely screwed up. However, I had nothing to worry about! I was so pleasantly surprised with the color! She did a great job and I would recommend her to anyone!

I had a full balayage and hair cut a week after new years. I wanted to get my hair color lighter and rid off the coppery tone. I went to get an appointment at gene juarez and was scheduled with Chloe, she was really nice but i feel like she was so tired and didnt want to deal with my hair so i was a little disappointed with the service. :(so anyway, i told her i wanted an ashy tone because i didnt like how my hair had coppery color. She said it was possible. but its been weeks and i feel like my hair didnt get any lighter from how it used to be. So i feel like i wasted my money. Ive been to other hair salons around seattle and even down in california, and for the money i paid for. I feel like they couldve given me better result. The tea was good tho! ;)

Hannah Le is a mastermind when it comes to fixing the color of your hair — I had a nice but very old red in my hair from boxed dye and I needed it out before my wedding. I had been coloring my hair that color for about 2 years or so and Hannah told me it would be a difficult task but she was willing to take it on. You’ll see in my pictures that she was able to take out all traces of the red and gave me a beautifully colored balayage and my hair is still very strong and healthy. I highly recommend asking for Hannah Le, you won’t regret it!

Updating my review. I had a negative hair experience with Carrissa that left my hair a damaged patchy blue/green/gray instead of the silver we had discussed. I was put in touch with a wonderful clients relations manager who listened to my unique situation and was extremely helpful in finding me a colorist who she though better suited my needs. I was hesitant at first to go back especially after having spent so much money to have poor results but I was willing to return if they offered me a discount. I was pleasantly surprised when they said that they would be taking care of the services required to get me to the color I desired. My new stylist was Pearl and she was absolutely amazing. She really listened to my needs and suggested I try washing my hair every day to remove as much of the old color as possible and then to come back for another bleach and tone and color. The whole appointment she was attentive to me. Always coming back to check on my hair to see how it was processing and making sure to re apply bleach to any spots that were darker. After the bleach she toned my hair platinum then colored it silver. We didn’t touch up my roots so she went in with an applicator bottle and applied a temporary black dye to my roots to create a beautiful black to gray ombré. Pearl was very friendly and the color came out beautiful. I will definitely be going back to her for all my hair color needs.

I have always been a customer of Gene Juarez ever since I was little – whether if it was for an up-do for a wedding or a haircut. Gene Juarez is a little bit more on the pricey side, they serve you water/coffee while waiting to be seen and everything is more professional and classy which makes the atmosphere and salon one of a kind. Just recently, I started to get into hair coloring, partial Balyages etc. and the only salon I trusted was Gene Juarez because ever since I could remember my mom would only get her hair done here and nowhere else. My mom had seen our colorist Hannah first and thankfully she did because my now my family and friends adore her because she is just so good at what she does! When I first saw Hannah, my hair had a little blonde in it due to a previous Ombré that I had. I explained to her that I wanted to make my hair look more blended in with blonde streaks and she suggested Balyage instead of the Ombré look. I wasn’t sure what color would look best so I left it up to her and she chose the color for me– the color turned out amazing and it was toned perfectly into my skin color and natural hair color in which I absolutely loved. Now because getting a Balyage does take forever, it’s always nice to talk to your colorist– and it is INCREDIBLY easy to talk to Hannah. As for hair cuts, I suggest making an appointment with Ryan. She knows exactly how to cut your hair that suits your facial structure and shape of your head. Aside from that, she does a fabulous job with styling you hair– to the point where she makes it look so easy! All in all, my family, friends and I’s experience here was great with these two girls and I STRONGLYRECOMMEND getting your hair done with them. Be sure to make an appointment because their schedules do get full sometimes.

I hate to have to give Gene Juarez a 2 star review… but I do. I feel like a parent, «I’m not mad, just disappointed» I set my appointment up a few weeks ago for a color and cut, talked with the girl on the phone for a good 10 minutes about the color I wanted(light pink tips and highlights on already blonde hair). And she said they could definitely do that. Show up today, get into my appointment only to be told what I had booked my appointment for wasn’t possible. The colorist Emma was so sweet, and apologized and did her best to find something they could do. I’d give Emma 5 stars! I was told I couldn’t move up the hair cut but was welcome to wait around for an hr and a half. Yeah, for sure not going to do that. Went in prepared to spend almost $ 300 on my hair, left disappointed and crying. Gene Jaurez needs to train their staff better on what services they actually offer.

I’ve been going to Gene Juarez Northgate for years and have always had a pleasant experience with all of the hair stylist I’ve been paired with. Today was an exception and only a sad reality of their horrible customer service. I made a 10:30am appointment the day of with a male stylist by the name of Jessie or was it James? I’m not too sure, but I know his name started with a J. Making it to my appointment 10 minutes early, I was greeted and checked in with no problem. Five minutes into checking in, the receptionist informs me that the stylists’ client that was originally scheduled an hour after my appointment came in early. From what I understand, the stylist decided to take his ‘long time client’ instead and make me wait half an hour for another appointment with a different stylist. Receptionist– So theirs been a mishap in booking your appointment, and it seems that Jessie’s client that was after you showed up early… Are you a long term client of his? None of these questions remotely relate to one another. I guess the explanation of the situation wasn’t thought out well enough was it? The receptionist tells me this as the stylist lurks on the side aware of what was going on… And why he wasn’t able to confront the situation himself is beyond me. I hate causing a scene, so I agreed to this only under the condition it was going to be a 30min wait. I also may add that they realized this was a horrible decision that was made by one of their staff members and had tried to offer me a discount for all the trouble that was caused. Of course 20 minutes pass with no new hairstylist in sight. I was over the wait and poor treatment. It’s definitely not a hassle taking my business elsewhere.

Got a partial balayage by senior colorist Shawn Kipp and I could not be happier with my hair! The whole experience was very relaxing and you can tell that Shawn knows exactly what she’s doing with hair. I highly recommend her even if you are not quite sure what kind of color you are looking for — she has great advice and wants to make sure you leave happy :) Thanks Shawn!!!

Colleen G. is the BEST colorist I’ve ever used. I’ve been seeing her for about four years now. She is a senior colorist but doesn’t just rely on all the same old same old. She really works on keeping up on the latest trends, but she doesn’t try and talk me into getting TOO trendy with my 40 something self. I think it’s easy at my age to get stuck in a hair rut and it’s so nice to have someone tell you, this is what is «in» and this is how we can make it work for you. She’s done a lot of balyage on me and she really has a great eye for painting the exact hairs that make it pop. You can see the creativity in her eyes as she really takes the time to run her hands through my hair to see how it flows and how she can make it shine. She really listens to what I like, even if I don’t know how to describe it, and she figures out what would look best on me. I always wish I had taken a before/after picture, because when she is done it’s like, wow, I didn’t think I looked that bad before, but I look SOMUCH better now! Put yourself in her hands you will not be sorry.

NEWMOTTO: GENEJUAREZ, WHEREYOUCANGETYOURHAIRFOILEDTHISMORNINGANDLOOKLIKEITWAS3WEEKSAGO! #KeepEmComingBackEvery4Weeks. And, wow. 50 bucks for a cut stylist fresh out of school? And why, when they do a foil, do they do it with a 3 week«grow out»? They say they do this to protect the scalp, which is BS because when you get an all over color it touches your scalp. I went to Jene Juarez for YEARS before I got wise to their scam. That being said, they do a good job pampering you. Tea, coffee, scalp massage and that cute little robe you put on sans your own shirt so you don’t walk around with hair all over your collar all day. I just can’t get over that 2 mm black line at my roots when I JUST got my hair done.

I’ve been to Gene Juarez salons off and on over the past 20 years and have to say that this past Friday was the worst. I made the appointment that morning for a 2PM haircut. Was surprised that I was able to get in on such short notice with a «senior» stylist. I arrived 10 minutes early for my appointment. While waiting I watched a woman walk in with her little dog and was ushered into the spa. Unsanitary at best on that note. 10 minutes AFTER my appointment time, the stylist had still not come out. I was on a pretty strict time schedule and went up to turn in my smock and asked for my jacket. The people at the front desk are nice and offered to find the stylist but I didn’t want to spend $ 60 to have said stylist hurry through my haircut since they allow 30 – 45 minutes per service which would then make the next person have to wait. I’m sorry but after driving over 2 hours because of traffic I was not going to have a haircut hurried through. In my opinion this stylist is a prima dona and doesn’t seem to care much about his clients and potential clients. I will never return to a Gene Juarez salon. The previous time I had an appointment at another location. It takes over an hour for me to get to the salon nearest where I live. When I arrived I was told that I didn’t have an appointment. So, fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

I got a $ 60 gift card to Gene Juarez for Christmas this year & I figured, what the heck, I don’t remember the last time I got a haircut, so why not today? I called a day before I decided to come in for my appointment. I have never been to a Gene Juarez Salon before & I was a little skeptical since I’ve been getting my hair done at the same place for years, however, thanks to today, I’d rather spend the money for the awesome customer service AND the quality of my haircut. When I walked in today, I was happily greeted by the receptionist. My appointment was at 1:15 pm & I arrived 15 minutes before. She checked me in and let me know that my stylist would be with me soon! I sat down and let my eyes wonder as I looked at all the things that were setup on tables; hair tools, sprays, and there was even a makeup station that caught my attention! 15 minutes passed and my stylist walked up to me, introduced herself & shook my hand. My stylist was Heidi & let me tell you, she was beyond amazing. The experience I had with her today is going to make me come back in two months like she suggested I do! I thought I had a good idea of what I wanted to do with my hair, but thanks to Heidi’s advice and suggestions, I’m glad I went with her idea. She suggested a swoopy side-bang and hair just an inch or two past my shoulders. I immediately went with it and was super excited to see how it was going to turn out! I’ll admit that I am a little awkward when I first meet people, I don’t say much until I feel comfortable enough with whomever I am associating myself with, and Heidi did just that! She started out with simple questions like if I’ve been here before, remembering my name for future visits, the last time I cut my hair, and things of the like. I felt very at ease the more she talked and kept the conversation going, because it’s always so weird when you’re sitting in the chair and your stylist doesn’t say much of anything to you. I felt like I was talking to a friend the whole time! She let me know what she was doing step-by-step and cared a lot about my experience. Thank you Heidi, for the awesome haircut, the amazing customer service & phenomenal experience. I will definitely be back again & I highly recommend this location!

I came here because I went to another salon(CoCo in west Seattle), who had done a pretty terrible balayage on me. I had already spent a ton of money there, so I just booked myself for a gloss with Logan. To be fair, the balayage I received at CoCo wasn’t terrible, but it most certainly wasn’t What I wanted or asked for. Instead of the caramel color I was going for, I left an ashy blond. Tired from my week, i went to the northgate GJ(the day before my wedding no less) and explained what was wrong. Logan took the time to tint gloss my hair TWICE, to make sure it was what I was looking for. I felt like me again, no longer self conscious about my hair, and I really couldn’t be happier. Thanks so much!
