Worst Chicken I’ve had in a long time. Definitely not worth the drive or money. My chicken was cold, not even warm. The bread was also cold. How do they not know what they’re serving? They also have nowhere to sit. Had to eat in my car. I just wasted $ 8 dollars. Never coming back.

Solid. Love Ezell’s and their super moist butter rolls! The strips are tender. Did I mention the butter rolls? Worth buying extra. Only Thing to make it better would be to have some daily/weekly deals! It’s the first to go at potlucks but it can get pricey for chicken. Love the crisp!

I love Ezell’s chicken but this location earned 1 star just off of service. I drove by with a late night craving 20 minutes before their website says they close. The place was dark, and locked with a worker outside smoking and looking at me like a weirdo for coming during business hours.

Ezell’s never fails me. They have the best peach cobbler in town by far! Everyone who is rating Ezell’s based on their service… Please wipe your tears and move on. This restaurant(particularly this location) is an in-and-out type of deal. Get off of your high horse and go to a sit-down restaurant.

The chicken was pretty good their sides were not that great can’t believe they charge for a hot sauce and barbecue sauce and honey on a $ 25 order

«Who doesn’t love fried chicken?» Had to check out Oprah’s FAV chicken! Oprah’s favorite fried chicken, that in fact she occasionally had it flown to her in Chicago when she had a craving. Ezell’s was made famous when talk show host Oprah Winfrey called it her favorite fried chicken. Undoubtedly the best American-style fried chicken in Seattle. The chicken coating is great and even the chicken itself is very flavoursome. Available in both original(really crunchy) and spicy. We got the original recipe, which was good but a little greasy(yeah, I know it’s FRIED chicken). Crispy and well seasoned. Good size chicken pieces and best eaten within 15 mins out of the oven. I love the baked-roll, which are more like a dinner roll. The rolls were soft with just a little whisper of sweetness instead of them actually being«sweet rolls» like a Hawaiian or a potato roll. The rolls are good, but a pat of butter would make them better. The sides we ordered were good. Creamy slaw… tangy, sweet, cold and crunchy. You can get sweet potato pie – yumm(Oprah agrees)! And Cajun Fries! Worth the cholesterol hit! I like the emphasis on clean tasty food: prepare it, cook it, deliver it into the smiling faces and outstretched hands. Service was fast and friendly. Just a heads up, it is take out only.

I have a weakness for fried chicken. When I smell fried chicken my mouth waters and I have to have some. I’ve been going here for the past few years and I’ll keep coming back. I usually get the spicy dark meat with mash potatoes and gravy. I’ve also tried and enjoyed the gizzards and liver. I wish this location has tables because the food is best eaten right away. The rolls are soft and delicious but I often have to skip on them to save room for chicken. The spicy-ness could by a little spicier but overall it’s the best fried chicken I’ve has in Seattle.

Love this place. My go to spot for some chicken! Love their sides! Such a small place though. I wish they had a seating area.

I’m familiar with the original location, and was expecting competent service and food at this new location, on Sunday June 14th2015. I guess the crew, actually the counter-person, is too new to the Ezell’s system, as she seemed too preoccupied to deal with any waiting customers. The customer ahead of me seemed to be familiar with the Ezell’s offerings but, had a very hard time deciding what to order, and had the counter person jumping back and forth to «help with that customers decision to order». This went on for about 5 to 10 minutes, and not once did the counter-person take the time to ask if any other customers KNEW what they wanted to order. A very nice couple asked when they could order, as they sounded like they made up their minds while the first customer hemmed and hawed. The Ezell’s counter-person kept saying in a minute, and seemed irritated at the request. This continued for a few more minutes, then the couple left. I tried to tough it out but after a few more minutes I figured that was enough. Standing around for 15 minutes waiting for something to happen with customer #1, was enough for me. I’d rather buy fried chicken somewhere else, that cares about servicing all of their potential customers. Not just one that can’t decide. If I were you, I’d avoid this location and drive to the one on 23rd, by Garfield HS. Genesee and Rainier is a waste of time.

Not great fried chicken. if there was a Chicken Express here this place would go out of business. 8 piece chicken dinner with 2 sides and 4 rolls $ 25 and they charge for hot sauce. The sides we got were beans which seemed like backed beans from a can with sugar and potato salad that had no flavor. It just tasted like mayo. We have not been in Seattle long but find that the quality of food is low in the mom and pop places out here.

Great food. Terrible service. Ideally I would give this place a 2.5 of 5 stars. As other reviewers have said. The older Hispanic woman taking orders is particularly poor. She ignores everything happening with customers and just does her own thing.

Love ezell’s Chicken. Great taste, amazing flavor! Not greasy and super juicy. The staff could be a little more friendly at this one. But food wise its great.

This place was my favorite when it opened up my senior year in high school. I preferred it over all of the other ezells. Since I don’t go to school in the south end anymore, I rarely ever stop by. Their chicken tenders are/were amazing. And so are the rolls! But tonight I’ve had the worst food ever served by them. I was throwing a little going away dinner for some family members and they requested fried chicken. Popeye’s was a little far drive so I decided on stopping by here since it was closer. We got the 16 piece meal with mashed potatoes, corn, and cole slaw. The meal also came with rolls but no sauces. As soon as we got home we noticed how dry the chicken was. It was so plain, under seasoned, and hard wtf. The sides were terrible, especially the mashed potatoes. It was super dry and hard. No amount of gravy could change its texture. The gravy was even worse, by the end of the meal it turned into jello. The smell was atrocious. The corn was cooked with pepper which I don’t really understand lol but it was clearly from the can. It was absolutely embarrassing serving this crap as a going away meal to my family members. I don’t think I’ll ever step foot into an ezells ever again. Trust me on that.

Although I prefer Heaven Sent’s fried chicken, this place is a bit more convenient. I feel like this location is better than the original in the CD in terms of consistency and service. Spicy fried chicken is the way to go — snack pack to get the warm buttery roll. The gizzards are good, but you don’t get many of them and I’d say that Marco Polo’s are slightly better. If you are feeling lazy just order off of Postmates for delivery

I went to Garfield HS so Ezells I’ll always have a soft spot for me! The chicken is good and the bread rolls are beyond amazing. The service at this location is pretty terrible though. Multiple times I’ve placed my order with an older Hispanic woman and she spent the entire time talking to her coworkers. While she was still taking my order! I’ve had to ask for my card back, ask for the receipt to sign, and clarify my order over and over again because she’s too busy with side conversations. Why she’s still working there is beyond me.

Great fried chicken and chicken strips. Their rolls are prob in my top 5 roll spots too. Sides tend to run out quickly, but when they’re available I like the baked beans and mashed potatoes. I agree with what some of the others are saying on the rest of the sides being kinda meh. Oh and do yourself a favor and order the gizzards. Yay for gizzards! I’ve been to their other locations and never thought much of ezells, but this one has yet to disappoint me. My family loves this spot and we’re lucky it’s local!

To be honest, I don’t know why everyone freaks out about this place. It’s good, but it’s not any different from other fried chicken I’ve had in other restaurants. The spicy flavor was good, but even though I’m a pansy when it comes to spice, I think it could’ve used a little more spice to really differentiate itself from the original flavor. The one thing I really didn’t like about this place was the side dishes. We got corn, mashed potatoes, baked beans, and coleslaw. Every side dish was extremely salty/overly flavored. I love mashed potatoes, but I couldn’t eat it without a giant glass of water. I actually would even prefer KFC mashed potatoes and baked beans over Ezell’s. Summary: The chicken was good but not great, and the sides kind of ruined it for me.

This place is not overrated. I know places that a lot of people rave about get bum raps because it’s just so hard to believe that they can be that good but it’s true. The chicken is just that damn good. It’s no muss, no fuss. No seating, no fluffery at the counter, just know what you want and tell them or take some time to study the menu. They take cards but cash will hasten your experience and time home so that you can break into your box of deliciousness. I like spicy, some recommend getting both, your choice. Spicy is not nose watering hot just very flavorful. You might want to get an extra drumstick for the car so you’re not so out of control when you get to your destination. The smell will make you wish you had. Chicken strips are a great option for those who do not like chicken on the bone and they can be taken home and turned into an awesome appetizer.

I’m not a BIG fan of fried chicken, but this not«just fried chicken»… This is AMAZING!!! Ezell’s takes it to a whole new level– way above the«KFC» experience. They have both an option for regular, spicy, or half and half. I defiantly recommend the half and half the first time you go. But, I will only get spicy from now on. It was just the right amount of spice– right around a 3 star on the scale. You can taste the nice little kick but won’t leave your mouth flaming. The rolls are light and fluffy and the slaw is just the right amount of «wet» to dip your roll in! The baked beans are also really good and perfect for roll dipping. Sweet and molasses-ey. Insider tip– get the slaw AND beans and do a half and half bite with a chicken tender! Portions are a great size too! Not a massive amount of food but just perfect! The chicken is PERFECTLY fried — not super greasy or dripping oil like other joints serve it. It has just pertly battered and fried just right. They have their own original secret spice and whatever it is– it’s DELICIOUS! Sweet staff and good food, that’s a win in my book! Great location to grab and go!
