I always try to rate food on a scale of what it is. That means in my mind, Dick’s isn’t anywhere close to the same scale as the top sushi place in Seattle. And that’s the way it should be — they’re nowhere near the same and it wouldn’t be fair to either to rate them on the same scale. That being said, this is not a review for Good Food. This is a review for A+ drunk food, though I wouldn’t try it when sober. Their deluxe burger is one of the best things I’ve consumed after drinking. Their fries are meh, even when drunk — soggy and underwhelming. I’ve heard good things about their milkshakes, but I haven’t tried them yet. So, if you’re looking for In N’ Out, this isn’t it. It’s nowhere near Shake Shack, or even Five Guy’s. It’s not customizable, it’s not even made fresh, you just grab what you came for and go. It’s not meant to be a high quality burger, but that’s exactly why it excels.

$ 2 burger in the heart of Capitol Hill. Great for a quick bite if you are in the area or after the bar hop!

The girl running the register threw possibly the most shade I have ever experienced from a fast food employee. I understand your menu may be served in a traditional way, but you don’t have to be a royal c*nt in telling your customers. Customer service is lacking… in that there was no service… only employees that appear to hate their job and that repeat the same thing robotically to each customer, and many eye rolls and pursed lips on top of that.

The very best for late night fixings and the best fast food you’ll ever eat. In N Out can eat a bag of Dick’s. There is no comparison. If you like the compact size and taste of McDonald’s, but don’t want the anxiety hangover that comes from eating cow flavored circus meat, Dick’s is perfect. Bring cash and get everything you’re hungry for because you won’t be disappointed. The Deluxe comes with all the fixings, the fries are that crispy/soft combo that’s hard to get in restaurant fries, and the milkshakes are so thick you can use them to seal bricks. The best part is the prices are almost at standard fast food level, but you pay for a better quality meal and the company pays their employees very well, with benefits and room for promotion. Also beware the hustlers hanging out on the sidewalk hoping to catch an extra buck off you, or to drop trou and see if they can make the news. Capitol Hill is still a sketchy place despite all the developments, but you should be fine if you need a late night drunk fix.

As an LA native, hearing that Dick’s is an equivalent to In N’ Out caught my attention. Weeeellll I can CONFIDENTLY say that Dick’s is NOTHING like In N Out other than their limited menu. Burgers are premade(no special orders) and fries are almost cold and burnt when you get them. The only thing redeemable about this joint is their decent prices! For sure don’t come here if you plan on having a decent meal!

Came here after bar hopping and it must be a popular spot because it was pretty packed. Seemed like a Seattle version of In-N-Out cause the menu is similar where there are fries, burgers, and shakes. Everything here is super cheap tho but it is cash only. Shakes are $ 2.50, deluxe burger is $ 3.10 and fries are $ 1.75. You can pretty much get a whole meal for around $ 8. Open late night till 2am which is always a bonus. Placed our order and then the food arrived almost immediately. Seemed like it was pre prepared. Fries were okay but a bit more on the saltier side for me. The burger also lacked seasoning as condiments such as ketchup, mustard, onions, and tartar sauce were additional charge. Didn’t really wow me and seemed like a regular burger at a bbq. Was a bit underwhelming but it is cheap and definitely a place to stop by for those craving munchies.

This place is very simple. You go up to the window, you order the food on the menu, then you get the food. There are no frills or gimmicks. You order and go. The food here is made pretty fast, and the employees here are very friendly. What I like most about this place is that the food is very delicious at a decent price. Normally to get a good burger you are dishing out almost 20 bucks for a meal. But when I come to dicks, i don’t have to break the bank to get a good satisfying meal. Thank you dicks.

Finally got to check out this Seattle institution. I tried the cheeseburger and it tasted exactly like a McDonald’s cheeseburger. I don’t mean this in a negative way at all but that’s what it reminded me of. A simple, standard fast food burger. If you’ve grown up coming to this spot I can see why it would feel like such an institution. As a visitor, I say it’s worth trying once just to see but that’s about it.

The«Dick’s» in the name is referring to the employees at these grease traps. If I could give negative stars I would. They don’t take debit/credit(cash only) and they refuse to leave anything off a hamburger. Ask for no pickle? You’re SOL. All the hamburgers are pre made. If you’re allergic to anything don’t even bother. They couldn’t careless. They do have a nice window that you can scrape off anything you don’t want onto though. Maybe when a customer asks for«no such and such» they’ll listen and not be shocked when the customer scrapes off the items on their window. Do yourself a favor and go else where. I’d like to see this place shut down. The food is disgusting. Pretty sure they get their«hamburgers» from the tubes that McDonalds rejected.

If you want the best out of dicks burgers then I recommend coming during the mornings and avoid lunch hours from 12pm to 1pm and avoid coming around 1am to 2am, because these are their busiest hours! People will come nonstop and the lines get so big causing employees at dicks to mess up orders and etc. Coming during the least busiest hours allow u to get their freshest fries and burgers!

Really nothing special. Kinda like McDonald’s but maybe a little worse because they don’t make any adjustments for you. Everything is prepared and then sold as is. Fries were good though, but super greasy and kinda expensive for the amount that you get.

Good old, greasy burgers for a really good price. Eating here made me feel like I was in the 50s/60s. It was a nice, laid back feel. I live in the Bay Area, have had In N Out hundreds of times, and can confidently say that Dick’s is much better. I was a little caught off guard to have to pay for ketchup packages but I guess it’s a way of making sure they don’t go to waste. The staff was friendly. Next time in Seattle, I’ll probably swing by.

Quite a catchy name for an establishment, I love it; it gets people talking which is a great marketing strategy although I doubt that was on purpose… or was it? This is one of those places that Seattleite would tell tourists to try out because it is the«In N Out» of Washington. In N Out is still better in my opinion, but to each their own. The menu is nice and simple, just a couple basic burgers options, natural cut fries, and shakes. I think there’s a slight ice cream menu too, but the whole menu probably has less than 15 items listed. Notice, it’s Dick’s Drive-IN, not Dick’s Drive THRU so you will have to park your car and walk up to the window, bring a jacket if it’s cold because there usually is a line. The line don’t go too fast, just because there’s usually a lot of people which just means they do a great job staying busy, but once you get up to order, your order does get to you fast. There is also a provided parking lot so makes it really easy if you were to drive to get here. This isn’t a high end, cook your meat to your own preference type of place. In fact, you can’t special order anything which doesn’t bother me because I like everything on my burger anyways. It’s fast food, convenient if you are in the area and want a cheap bite or is done partying in Cap Hill and want to walk to get some food to satisfy your drunkenness. I noticed that the only burger with that yummy special sauce is the deluxe burger so that’s all I get, the fries are so so, shakes are typical strawberry/chocolate/vanilla shakes, & ice cream are good. Condiments like ketchup, mustard, tarter, and onions are 5 cents extra. Overall, I think Dick’s does a great job is what it does which is providing cheap and fast food. Oh yeah, CASHONLY. Tell me about your experience if you’ve been here or is going to after reading this review:)

Let’s see… Burgers, fries, shakes, and Capitol Hill. It’s the perfect combination, what more could you want? I love dick’s and get it every time I’m back in town cause let’s be real, who can resist a dick’s deluxe with fries($ 0.50 for ketchup) and a cold shake to wash it down? But really the quality of the burgers is always good, though the fries can be soggy at times. Haven’t tried In-and-Out before but I’m ok with that, cause honestly dicks’s is so good.

Dick’s has been a landmark and one of my favorites as long as I can remember(I’ve lived in the Seattle area all of my life). We will regularly make a special trip into Seattle just to satisfy a cheeseburger craving! My favorites: Cheeseburgers, bags of them. Fries(skin on and soggy, but yummy!), and their shakes(real ice cream). They usually have a line at the window from open to close, but things move fast. Oh, and bring cash(no debit/CC purchases but ATMs are nearby).

Burgers are my favorite food. Truth be told, when visiting the west coast, I had the opportunity to try out In/Out Burgers and Islands Restaurants. Both did not live up to my standard of Five Guys. While visiting family in Seattle, we had a chance to dine out at Dick’s Drive In. It’s not actually a ‘drive-thru’, it’s a drive in, walk up to order, and eat standing or sitting in your vehicle. Their menu is simple: burgers, fries and drinks. We opted for the deluxe burgers, complete with condiments that included pickles, sauces, lettuce. The burger had 2 good sized patties. It was tasty and compact. The fries were very similar to the flash fried fresh fries that is served at In/Out. It’s an institution in the Seattle area. I am glad I had an opportunity to add them to my list of burger favorites.

Dick’s is famous in the Seattle area. My cousin gave us a quick tour of the city and we stopped for a snack at Dick’s. They have a basic burger menu, fries and drinks. It’s so simple, I was confused! We ordered the deluxe at a whopping price of less than $ 3. Again, confused because it was SUCH a bargain. The burger and fries were reminiscent of In-N-Out, concept only… They were SO juicy and delicious. really I could have eaten another! The fries were fresh cut and again reminded me of In-N-Out. This location is a walk-up, and eat in your car type of venue. It was fun and I wish I had another.

I had never heard of Dick’s Drive-In until a recent friend in Seattle told me it was like the In-N-Out of Seattle. I had to try it. Dick’s has a cool retro car-hop look and feel to it. The counters are outside and is cash only. After perusing the small menu, I read that each patty is a tiny 1⁄8 lb(2 oz.) patty so I can actually get one of each burger — so I did. The meat to bun ratio is way off in the regular hamburger/cheeseburgers. You will have to order the Deluxe to have a filling burger especially since the Deluxe includes all of the toppings as well. The«Special» and«Deluxe» included a pickle relish which was basically tartar sauce. I love tartar sauce and I love burgers, but I have never had tartar sauce on a burger. It was different and is what Dick’s does to differentiate themselves from the competition. I wanted to try the basic hamburger on it’s own to taste the beef, but it was still mostly bun. The beef patty was more similar to that of McDonald’s. The fries are«Hand-Cut» and delicious with the skin on, but were overly salted. I mean, they were caked in salt. I read that they are family-owned and have an excellent benefits package for their employees which is great. I can fully support that. The similarities with In-N-Out are noticeable in their family-owned culture, simple menus, and brand design but I wouldn’t compare their respective burgers with one another. I find the comparison for the slider-sized burgers more appropriate to McDonald’s.

Oh, Dick’s. You tasted so good, but burned me so bad. I guess shame on me for wanting to try the cool-kids Seattle burger joint. The area seems mildly shady, and is definitely popular despite that. The burgers & fries themselves TASTE good, but wrecked havoc on my stomach for hours afterwards. Rats.

You can take the girl out of California, but sometimes you can’t quite take the California out of the girl. Sorry Dick’s — In N Out has you beat for me. I’m not saying that Dick’s isn’t good — but there’s just NO way you can beat the fresh veggies used in In N Out burgers, or those delightfully thin-cut, salted In N Out fries. I would compare Dick’s to Del Taco’s Del Burgers instead of an In N Out burger. This shouldn’t be taken as a diss. I do think they taste very similar, and that’s not a bad thing at all.

I hope my friend who took me here doesn’t ever read this review because then I’d seem like the real Dick here. I came to visit from LA and he was so excited to share the«In N Out of Washington» with me. I have one word for that comparison: HA! Maybe one star up from McDonald’s. As a matter of fact, I distinctly remember thinking, «This tastes like McDonald’s but with real beef.» Washington, you are a beautiful thing. You have the Olympic peninsula, you have the coffee of my wet dreams, you have legal marijuana. But you don’t have on par burgers. Keep playing, yo.
