Huge fan of this location! The décor is so cute and just very inviting in an area where it’s mostly bars that I would not describe as cute. It’s large and offers a lot of seating — huge plus for studying or if you are working. I noticed a decent amount of outlets if you need to power up. There’s a big long dining table, lots of smaller seats, a cool corner both, and bar stools all around the shop. I was here for 4 hours and there was always plenty of space. The music is pretty loud so noise canceling headphones would be good if you like to listen to your own music. Toward the evening, music type changed and it was softer which was nice. Wifi is an open network, surprisingly very fast! Food wise, it’s really nice that they have a variety of sweets like pastries, donuts, and ice cream in addition to the cupcakes. I went classic with the red velvet and it was almost perfect. Loved the cream cheese frosting. However, the sides of the cupcake were very dry and hard. Inside was still moist though so like I said — mostly perfect. I didn’t get to try the coffee but it looked great and I will definitely be back to try. Also shout out to the guy with dreadlocks who I had read about on Unilocal beforehand. Thanks for being friendly! Told you I would include you in my review :)

I went to this location to give it another shot(because of all the good reviews) after going to their Downtown location and being disappointed. Both times their cupcakes were hard, crusty and definitely tasted too old to be served or eaten. Their ice cream on the other hand, is delicious! They definitely make better ice cream than cupcakes. Their coffee is good as well! I’ll go back for their ice cream(just not their cupcakes). I’m in no way a food or cupcake snob, but there’s no denying their cupcakes were too crusty and hard to be enjoyable. The shops are adorable and depending on the location, you could have a decent customer service experience. At the Downtown location, the staff did their jobs but didn’t seem interested in being there and one of the staff at the Cap Hill location was kind and helpful and the other acted like you were a burden to them. Definitely try their ice cream, even if you’re there for the cupcakes!

I’ve had my share of cupcakes but being from CA and visiting in town we stumbled upon this cupcakery and it was the best decision ever. Sunday night at 9pm and less than half of choices available. I just remembered the ice cream! Best ice cream ever!!! Hazelnut ganache brittle something? Definitely a must try! My friends got 4 cupcakes and they all were in love with it, not too sweet and pairs well with ice cream! If you’re in the area do try, you won’t regret it!!!

This is without question the coolest looking cupcake spot I have ever been to which serves up the most God awful cupcakes I have ever eaten in my 36 years on this planet. Normally if I eat a bad cupcake I go «meh» and go on my way but this particular cupcake I had, along with a taste of my girlfriend’s cupcake and even a THIRD pastry we purchased because we were SO excited to crush these great looking desserts made me write this review. I felt it my civic duty to do so. The 2 cupcakes and 1 donut my girlfriend and I had easily ranked as the top 3 worst cupcake/donut combo we have ever eaten. As a quick recap that is two people, three treats, worst… Ever. You may be thinking, this guy and his girlfriend either have a competing cupcake business or someone at the store murdered their dog. Wrong! While the dude with the dreads was a bit of a dick that hardly made me want to run to the Unilocal.I meet dicks all the time(don’t go there!) The taste of the cupcakes and ONLY the taste of the cupcakes made me write this review because they should simply, in my humble and non-professional opinion, revamp their recipes to match the glorious interior of their business. To call my Cupcake Royale experience a letdown would be to call the Hindenburg disaster a minor gas leak.(That is what we call hyperbole but you get the picture). If you are wondering, «what is it about these cupcakes that makes this man turn to the power of the Internet to express his rage» I shall explain further. The two cupcakes in question were undercooked, chewy, tasteless with a bitter and overwhelming frosting and the one donut was a deflated, limp, simply foul tasting ring of flour with sugar that shouldn’t be called a donut. I imagine this post sounds a bit harsh but I cannot understate how not good I thought it was. I’m sure the people who own this place are amazing and beautiful people but even terrific, upstanding pillars of the community can serve you things that are not enjoyable to eat. Goodbye.

If you’re in the area come here first. I went to two other places before coming here and should have come here first. My third time this day was definitely a charm when it comes to Cupcake Royale. It was cold, rainy and I was in the mood for a cup of hot tea and a snack. I checked out Unilocal and picked a new business I have never been to before. I walked in and there was no place to sit and there were already people circling the tables like sharks complaining that there is never anywhere to sit. I decided to leave and checked Unilocal again and found another place. As I was waiting online at stop #2, I was subjected to listening to the person taking the order arguing with the customer in a raised rude voice. I was not in the mood to give my money to someone with no manners so I checked Unilocal for a third and final time and found Cupcake Royal. Long story short… I should have come here first! As I walked in I was actually greeted by the young man behind the counter with the dreadlocks. He was friendly and polite, seemed happy at his job and provided excellent service. There were so many wonderful cupcakes to choose from that I was a bit overwhelmed, but the gentleman at the counter took the time to explain some of the choices that were available based on my preferences. There were so many choices and I had my eye on the triple threat, the velvet Elvis and the salted caramel cupcake. I finally chose the triple threat. I’ll be honest, I wanted to try all three of them but I know I can only eat one. I am glad I only chose one because it was very filling. Besides the rainbow of cupcakes you can also get donuts, cookies and cake pops. If that’s not for you they also have ice cream. I thought about getting a cupcake and an ice cream but I was too full from lunch and so I have to come back for that! They have coffee and tea and I liked the black tea I had. I also liked that I got free refills on my hot water for my tea. No matter how busy the gentleman behind the counter was, he always was pleasant and smiled. I ordered the triple threat cupcake and it was wonderful. It is a moist chocolate cupcake topped with smooth chocolate buttercream. The buttercream was perfectly balanced and not too sweet. On the top there are swirls of fresh dark chocolate that really compliments the icing and the cake. When you get a little bit of everything in your mouth at the same time it really all goes together perfectly. I liked that this shop seemed to appeal to a wide cross-section of Seattleites. In the shop were families with kids, the elderly, gay & straight couples and people of all races enjoying the great products and good service. There was no pretentiousness, no unhappy workers and no attitude here. It’s the kind of place that reminds me of why I love the city of Seattle. After going to two other places earlier and striking out at both of them, ending up at Cupcake Royale was a perfect ending. I want to thank the young man who provided exceptional service as well as the manager and owner for having a place with broad appeal where anyone would feel comfortable. Overall it is a wonderful place that I will definitely come back to and I look forward to it. I can”t wait to see what kind of cupcakes they have next time!

Before coming here, I was like«Bah! I’ll just get supermarket cupcakes!» but then I had one of their cupcakes and it is really. freaking. good. This place is pretty laid back and unassuming. I like that it is not overly crowded like Vita, so it is a nice alternative for working.(what’s the point in going for coffee if nobody even sees you? so uncool) you can find a table tucked in the back or sit by the window and enjoy a sweet treat and warm beverage. But the cupcakes are definitely really good. Price limits how many times I can/should actually get them, but they are mighty tasty!

This little joint is fantastic!!! …and that’s bad news, because it’s so close to my place, that I find myself going for a little snack nearly every day! I love their donuts – they’re comparable to Top Pot or Krispy Kreme! When I’m not in the moood for a donut, though, the fritters and the Honey Snickerdoodle cookies are my go-to items. Unsurprisingly, however, the best items in the house are the cupcakes. My favorite is the Classic Cupcake – with its vanilla cake and chocolate frosting it is un.beat.ah.ble! A classic!(Pun delivered) There’s also ice cream and their coffees aren’t bad – not bad at all! More awesome yet, it’s that they’re open until 11PM, to satisfy your late night cravings… Every. Day. I’ve never seen a diamond in the flesh, and we’ll never be royals, but we can eat like them at Cupcake Royale!

Cupcake Royale is one of the best, and definitely worth a visit. I had been eye spying this place for a while since some of my Seattle Unilocalers check in this location ALLTHETIME! This is known as Seattle’s best cupcakes and ice cream since 2003. On my quick visit to Seattle I stopped in to see what all the fuss was about. Cupcake Royale has rotating monthly flavors good coffee** for all the coffee lovers out there**, and amazingly rich cake-flavored ice cream. Cupcake Royale is a small chain in Seattle and they have a beautiful little shop in the Capital Hill District. Their flavors are always changing but I came in to try their ice cream flight which consists of 4 baby scoops for $ 8. I tried there: ~ Salted Caramel Cupcake Ice Cream(4\5) ~ Burnt Caramel with Sea Salt(1\5) my taste buds were NOT feeling this! ~ Red Velvet Cupcake Ice Cream(5\5) so yummy! ~ Triple Vanilla(5\5) you seriously can’t go wrong with Vanilla right?! Most locations do a «cupcake happy hour» just before closing to clear out the day’s stock. Happy hour is buy 3 cupcakes get 3FREE! Awesome! These are truly legit cupcakes and Ice Cream. The ladies that were working were super nice and very sweet! They have a little kitchen in the back where you can see them decorate the cakes and cupcakes. SOLEGIT! It has good(and free wifi). Perfect for doing homework or chatting with friends. YUMYUM. I really loved this place! Very cute atmosphere and décor. I would definitely be back when in Seattle and in Capitol Hill district This place is definitely an adventure for my mouth.

Found this place by just doing a vegan search on Unilocal.Got inside and realized they only had one vegan cupcake… Chocolate with chocolate frosting. I was hoping for a little more variety, especially since I’m not a fan of chocolate. But got it anyways and the cupcake was decent but the frosting was bomb at least

Cupcake Royale is like a Barbie dreamhouse — with cupcakes. So my flavors, so little time. I only had one, the Blueberry Lavender. The cupcakes here are really good, with yummy frosting and cake that isn’t too dry or dense. Dominic P had the Triple Threat Chocolate, it looked really rich. All of the seating is pink and white, and there’s a long table in back that you can reserve if needed. The hours are great too — open late!

Cupcake Royale. Also known as every sweet tooth’s sinfully desired(and avoided) cupcake shop. Whilst passing by this shop, we were helplessly exposed to its sweet-scented pull as customers entered and exited the store. As we stepped in, we were immersed into a sixth year old princess’ perfect notion of a birthday party setting. It was absolutely adorable and very fitting for a cupcake shop! Their selections and varieties were vast: cookies, brownies, ice cream, coffee, and of course, cupcakes. My indecisiveness would frequently cause me to purchase more than the normal human being would at a cupcake shop for oneself. With luck on my side, I left Cupcake Royale with just ONE cupcake, feeling accomplished. I chose was a Chocolate Vanilla cupcake, very original and very good. However, when I pay another visit next time, I would try more of their special flavors like the Honeycomb Blueberry Vanilla cupcake! What can I say, I love my sweets!

Wow, this place is amazing. It’s not cheap but that’s okay because the cupcakes taste amazing. We just stumbled upon this place while walking around capital hill. What a lucky accident. The place is big, very clean, and spacious. The cupcakes are beautiful and big! The ice cream is also very good. My friend selected a dozen cupcakes, which came to about $ 50. We didn’t try any before buying so we were hoping the investment would be worthwhile. It definitely was! I tried a lavender cupcake. Wow, absolutely amazing! The cake part was fabulous and the frosting perfect. It wasn’t super sweet. My husband tried a chocolate cupcake. It was great too but not as great as the lavender cupcake. The staff were very nice and friendly too. If you are in the area you have to stop by. This might not be the place you bring your children since these cupcakes aren’t cheap… :)
