Perfect lunch spot quick good food and pleasant service. The TBAS sandwich is excellent. Just what a working guy needs. The staff couldn’t be nicer or friendlier.

I work in the are a lot(Gallaghers Gutters), and always swing by when I can. Always awesome, from cold sandwiches to the hot ham and Swiss to my fave phillie cheese steak. Good polite people and awesome food!

Not a great place for good coffee at least by Seattle standards. The coffee is similar tasting to instant.

I didn’t set foot in the restaurant so I cannot speak for the quality of the building, only of the sandwich that my wife bought me. So, how was the sandwich? I had the chicken teriyaki sub. It was f***ing amazing. I would happily have one for lunch everyday for the rest of my life. Although I probably won’t do that, I will most certainly be having it again.

This is my favorite little local café /breakfast place in Seattle. It’s nothing fancy, but it’s warm, cozy, and friendly. The staff are extremely thoughtful and attentive. I brought my dog once months ago when eating outside and they now routinely save beef scraps for him. When I bring my toddler in with me, there is always a smile and a cookie ready for her. I’m only there at breakfast time, once a week, when I bring my older daughter to a music lesson in the neighborhood, but the eggs are cooked perfectly and the bacon is crispy and tasty. I hear the coffee is good(I’m not a coffee person). And there’s a drive up window. What’s not to like? My daughter’s lessons will be ending soon but we plan to keep visiting regularly as it’s a favorite weekend ritual for us.

Today was a sad day when I moved out of Magnolia and away from my favorite deli. Multiple times a week as I was leaving home I’d call into Blue Heron and order a sandwich to pick up on my way to the office. Every time I walked through the door I was warmly greeted and handed a delicious made-to-order breakfast sandwich. So many sandwiches were eaten and I never tired of them. Here are my two favorites combos: — bagel, butter, fried egg, ham, provolone and sriracha. — croissant, fried egg, cream cheese, bacon, onion Lunches are also delicious. Of course the bada-bing is excellent, but the hot ham and cheddar on sourdough is freakishly good considering its simplicity. I have loved supporting this small business over the years and I wholeheartedly endorse it!

We just bought a house a block away from Blue Heron. We are so, so excited to live so close to such a great little café! The folks who work there(I’m sure I will learn their names soon!) are genuinely friendly– you feel totally welcomed the moment you walk in the door. Their food is fresh and tastes like something that your mama would make you after a long day. It hits the spot. I’m a big fan of their croissant breakfast sandwiches as well as their sourdough bread for lunch. Even if the food was sub par I would come back just because of the great service. You can tell that they truly value their customers. That’s not something you find every day.

A nice family-run business. Very friendly service. You can tell they are busy every lunchtime with phone orders, so if you walk in and order, be ready to wait a bit. I was fine waiting, but then I got my sandwich. And by sandwich I mean soggy mayo bread mess. I work really close to this place now, but probably won’t be back.

Wow. This is a classic example of «are all of the other reviewers high on something, or simply relatives of the owners?» The food here is mediocre at best, and I can’t imagine any Seattleite disagreeing. Not cheap either. Very friendly people, good looking menu, but the ingredients and preparation remind me of suburban American dining in the 1970’s. Cheap meats, bad sauces, awful melted cheese product, boring bread etc. I want this nice family to do well, but they need to ramp up the quality of their product.

I love this place. They are always so nice and the service is fast. You have to try the Reuben… it’s perfection.

This is my second most favorite spot to grab breakfast. I really appreciate that the service is friendly, timely, and that the sandwich is made to order. I usually order a bagel or croissant breakfast sandwich with egg, bacon, and a sausage patty. It’s always perfect, warm, and extremely filling and I’m set for the morning. Other than the food, the staff is so nice and I love how comfy the atmosphere is. The service is welcoming and they always seem to be familiar with their customers. It has a nice, neighborly feel whether or not you’re going through the drive-thru or eating in the café. Today I just tried the lunch menu for the first time and had the Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, and Avocado sandwich on light rye. It was amazing. The ingredients were in perfect proportion and it tasted fresh. I love coming here and will continue to come here for as long as I am in the neighborhood.

Don’t come here expecting to get anything even close to an edible sandwich. You’ve been warned! The sandwiches at this place are disgusting. I got a «pastrami» sandwich which was the most nasty thing I’ve ever seen. This is what their«pastrami» sandwich consists of: 1) Thin sliced, cheap **turkey** deli meat 2) White, un-toasted, soggy hoagie bun(think of the cheapest bread you can buy, that’s what this is) 3) Cheap 1000 island dressing(and waay too much of it) 4) Canned sauerkraut with an acrid taste 5) Cheap mustard That’s their«pastrami» sandwich. Nothing much else to say, except that the interior reflects the quality of their food. Keep this in mind if you feel adventurous enough to visit this place. It looks like they took whatever furniture they found on the side of the road and put it in their restaurant. Ceiling tiles had water damage, table was caulked together, mismatched and stained furniture. It’s really a reflection of the kind of care they put into their food.

The Blue Heron is THE place if you want to get an awesome breakfast sandwich. I have only been in with people to enjoy one of their delicious croissant egg and cheese sandwiches, but that really is all I care about– because they are so so good. You also have the convenience of a coffee shop and a wide selection of drinks inside the store. Great atmosphere, nice seating, no downsides. The staff are a very cute couple who are extremely nice too.

I love the Blue Heron. My husband and I have been going to the Blue Heron for years, and I’ve never written a review. Specifically, we like the breakfast and deli sandwiches. The espresso is good too. The service is great and the ambiance is laid back. This is a great spot to meet a friend for breakfast, lunch, or coffee. Love it!

I’ve had both their breakfast and lunch, both were equally delicious. They were very generous with the bacon in my breakfast sandwich and the bread for my BLT was so fresh! I had an Americano from here as well and I thought it was definitely one of the best that I’ve had in a while(it must be my luck or something but a lot of places I get Americanos from are either too watered down or burnt). Staff is friendly and the food is very affordable.

I simply have NO idea what all these people are raving about… either they’re extremely high or have highly defective taste buds. Several reviews claim that the Bada Bing is to die for, so that was my first choice. It tasted like those disgusting frozen microwavable turkey phillies… tasteless turkey, highly processed veggies, mass produced generic hoagies and extruder-formed American«cheese». Not only was I not impressed, but this was honestly one of the worst hot sandwiches I’ve EVER had. But I did want to at least give them a second shot so I went back, tried the TBAS… same nasty turkey, prepackaged avocado spread… simply terrible. They also always have Jesus music on the radio… annoying as hell; pun intended. The one and only thing this place has going for it is the very friendly family who runs it, but that’s not incentive enough for me to go back a third time and leave with another belly-full of regret. MAYBE the breakfast sandwiches are better(I haven’t tried those) but I’m really not up to going back and eating anything else that tastes like what I’ve had here in the past. If you want a good hot sandwich, drive 5 minutes to Other Coast in Ballard, pay a couple bucks more, and be totally satisfied that you did.

The name is cute! I love the idea of this place, and the location. Several people I know frequent it. It is very close to home, in a residential neighborhood, which is lovely to see. I have a tough time with harsh smells or chemicals(think hives) and every time I’ve been in over the course of the last five years it smells very strongly like cleaner. I was sad to visit recently with a friend(who happened to be pregnant) and we needed to leave, both because it smelled strongly like cleaner and they were not serving espresso that day. Perhaps they can switch to deep cleaning the place at night, and also use less harsh products.

I learned a new Yiddish word recently: Haimish. Haimish is a comfortable, warm, welcoming place. The Blue Heron is haimish. With its mismatched furniture and dishes, its friendly Korean owners, the chess board by the window with 2 armchairs, a long couch for chilling and large round tables for projects and studying, this is a great place. The espresso is the same quality one gets in a midwest Starbucks — it’ll do in a bind. The food is good, and made upon ordering. The egg and cheese muffin for breakfast is excellent. In addition to the lovely indoor seating, there is a deck with outdoor seating as well. It’s a very well-considered space, ideal for meeting with friends or holing up to study for a few hours.
