You usually can tell a lot about a place when all the restaurants in the food court have a line except the BBQ… unfortunately I didn’t take the hint. The Mac and cheese was good and the smoked jalapeños are great – but the meat was less than average.

Disclaimer. I try to eat as little meat as possible. Why four stars then? Bought a BBQ pork sandwich for my son. Very reasonable value relative to many of the other offerings in this food court. I did try a little bite of the pork(just a small one, that’s not cheating right?). It tasted fine. My son scarfed it down. The side salad of coleslaw that came with the sandwich was good. Nice and tangy, light on the mayonnaise. We also ordered a side of mac n cheese for my daughter. She refused to tough it because it was real mac n cheese. LOL. I’m not a big mac n cheese fan but this probably would have satisfied most people. They clearly used several varieties of cheese in their sauce. Maybe too gourmet for kids, but my son liked it. I prefer mac n cheese with a baked topping and drier, but some don’t. This was quite cheesy and creamy. Would definitely recommend if you are a carnie and need to eat at the Armory. Good value, decent quality food.

Sad ass brisket on a scorched bun. At least it was fast and plentiful. Good enough for being hungry, I guess.

Went on a Thursday between lunch and dinner, no lines. Our order was ready quickly. The food reminds me of a paired down menu you would find on a food truck. The sandwich was big enough to fill me with out the need of a whole bunch of sides. I would eat here again.

The sandwiches and coleslaw were delicious! They also have sauces on the side that were pretty interesting. Service was fast, but the person taking our order could have been a bit friendlier.

First time visiting the Space needle food court. The BigFood line was as long as the other food court spots, mainly because there was one person taking orders, filling drinks etc at the front counter. The pulled pork sandwiches were thick and filling and at $ 8 a good value. My daughter chose Mac and cheese as the side order and we also had the beans and apple slaw

I’m not sure why this place gets a bad wrap. I found the service to be quick and friendly(even though they were REAL busy). The food came quick and was as delicious and fulfilling as I had hoped. The flavors and textures were just right and what more can you ask for from a classic meal of pulled pork and mac-n-cheese? The only reason I am not giving this 5 stars is because of the terrible children’s choir singing on stage right next to this place and the creepy bum guy who came up to us and stared at us for a while. The location is pretty central to the Space Needle and also the beautiful grounds that surround it. Pricing was fair.

This place was great! And the food was delicious too! My niece wanted Mac n cheese and I wanted some real food. She had delicious, creamy Mac n cheese which she devoured and I had pulled pork with apple slaw… Nicely done big food! The food was excellent, the staff were super nice and accommodating to my little niece and we both walked away happy and full. Made the crowds and the endless tourist stuff worth it — almost :)

Why such low ratings?! Located in The Armory in the Seattle Center, Bigfood not only has delicious BBQ, but their food stall is pretty neat. The cabin décor is detailed – from the shelves lined with a lantern and arrows to the wooden counter and even a mounted elk head. I felt like I was preparing to go out and find Bigfood… I mean Bigfoot! Hah. I had the Applewood Smoked Brisket Sandwich. Tender and juicy meat, slathered with BBQ sauce and topped with apple slaw. So yummy! I would definitely get this again!

We went here around 1pm on a Sunday. The line was excruitatingly long(as were all the lines in the Armory). It took us 35 minutes to get to the counter. Upon getting there, we were told they *just* ran out of macaroni and cheese as well as beef. Um, okay, weird– considering they don’t have that many items on their menu. We had to change our order completely, and the cashier was less than sympathetic that our kid was in tears over not getting mac n cheese. So we ordered 2 platters– of pulled pork with beans and an extra side of beans. The total was $ 29.00 with no drinks. We waited… and waited. as numbers were being called before us that were after us(example, we were order 29. and we watched as orders 30 – 36 were served). After 20 minutes or so, I went to the counter to complain. They had somehow forgotten us, but we would be up next. So the cashier finally calls our order and. they messed it up!!! ArGH! We had already been there for an hour, so I should have just taken the 2 sandwiches they made. but we paid an extra 10 bucks for the platters, so I complained. Bad mistake! The adolescent boy making the sandwiches gave me a very dirty look when they were sent back. he was laughing almost maniacally making up our plate all while giving me dirty looks!!! This made me very nervous that he was putting gross stuff in our food. We finally got our platters around 2pm. Everything tasted okay, but later on, we all had upset stomachs. To sum this place up: 1. disorganized 2. unprofessional 3. dirty 4. rude to customers 5. expensive for mediocre bbq(nearly 30 bucks for 2 adults with no drinks, crazy for a fast food atmosphere!)

Meh. The brisket, chicken, slaw and corn muffins were all recognizable as such, and perfectly edible, but utterly unexceptional. So if you really need to eat something, it’s food… but it’s not tasty enough to make you feel it was worth eating.

I was expecting better, since I didn’t read any of these other reviews, but was in the mood for BBQ when we hit The Armory for lunch. We were mildly disappointed. Service was relatively quick and friendly, but why did it take until half way through an amazingly rushed lunch hour for him to figure out that his wi-fi setup was the reason credit card transactions were not going through? We all decided to bypass the sandwich and get the BBQ+2, which is just the meat with a side and a cornbread muffin. She had the pulled pork, which was tender and sweet, accented with just a little sauce. Her side was the cole slaw, which I remember as not having dressing, but was not too bad. The cornbread muffin was tasty and just a little spicy. My son and I got the brisket, which was a mistake because I detected no rub or smoke, literally just meat that should have been cooked another hour or two to make it more tender. At least it was not dried out and adding sauce helped. It might have been better in a sandwich. The mac and cheese was the highlight on my plate, shell macaroni in a creamy, cheesy goodness sprinkled with a little bacon. If you’re in the mood for BBQ when in the armory, this would be a reasonable option. Just don’t bother with the brisket.

Okay, so first off, I, too, am slightly disappointed that this Bigfood has tossed out their flat breads for bbq but if bbq is done right, bbq is good too! But not here. Nope. I walked into the Armory after spending the morning at the EMP and I was famished. I walked into the Armory for the first time since they put in all the food vendors and I was excited to try something new. I had a hard time choosing between Plum, Bigfood, and Skillet Counter but I went for Bigfood. Biggest mistake of my day. I walked up the counter and asked what the best thing on the menu was and the guy mumbled out a few words. He displayed no emotion and mumbled. Confused, I went for the«Pulled Chicken» sandwich and a small mac n cheese. The total came out to be $ 13 with tip. Why did I tip him? Because the receipt had a line asking for tip, those lines always scare me. I got my food in about 10 minutes and the presentation was beautiful, at least for the mac n cheese that is. The«Pulled Chicken» sandwich did not look pulled at all. It literally had chunks of chicken breast with a huge spoonful of bbq sauce. The food was also lukewarm… what the hell!!! I devoured the mac n cheese because it was amazing! It came topped with bacon, yum! It would have tasted even better if the food was actually hot! Then I went for my sandwich. I had two bites and no more because it really was not good. My bread was sort of stale and I like it when they grill the bread, but my bread was stale, lukewarm, and even overly charred. The chicken wasn’t pulled, I was eating chunks of chicken. If the chicken was truly pulled, they would have also realized the bone pieces in the meat. My second bite was 80% bone, 20% chicken. I really enjoyed the coleslaw that the sandwich came with so I ended up eating just the mac n cheese, 2 bites of the sandwich, and all the coleslaw. In the middle of my meal, they ended up relocating all the condiments and silverware so I was really put off by it(I was the only customer there and they cleared it after I grabbed my side of jalapenos and a fork, did I do something wrong!!!). I wanted to grab more napkins but the cart that had all this stuff was completely cleared. I’m the type of person who loves food for it’s flavor and presentation but I also love food for the sake of eating. I just couldn’t eat my sandwich at Bigfood and that’s really saying something. If I ever do go back, I’ll only be getting the mac n cheese. Dear Bigfood, please don’t be cold – both your food and employees were COLD! Please tell your employees to be friendlier and to actually heat up the food up. I miss your flatbreads. Yours truly, EC

Bigfood was stationed here at the pacific raceways for the events this weekend. The girl working the booth was very friendly and served our drinks and food with a smile. We didn’t order anything extraordinary but we were pleased with the quality.

Bigfood is definitely one of my favorite food trucks. I first discovered them because they do, from time to time, come to my office surrounding. And when that time comes, you can usually spot them just from the long wait line that my office colleagues are willing to line up for. Their menu is pretty much focused on some sort of meat on flat bread. In the past, I have tried their chicken and tofu selection(each one is about $ 8−9/ea.good serving portion, too)…but last week at the food festival, they also offered $ 5 sample on top of the $ 9 regular-sized dish that they typically offered. So we did had $ 5 for pork and it was really good. The portion was quite generous and very reasonable for just the $ 5 we paid. However, given that I have now tried 3 different types of meat… I would still have to vote that tofu is still my favorite. and I’d probably ordered tofu meat again if I ever get a chance to eat from this truck. The one thing that seemed consistent though is that they seem to be make-to-order…so the line can be quite long. You’d think that they would have grilled and seasoned all the toppings/fillings ready to scoop and hand out to their customers. but I don’t think so. Even at the food truck near my office or at food fest, they seem to be quite slow in churning the food out. Though the wait is long, but it’s not unreasonable like hours or waiting either. so that doesn’t bother me much! Great job to this food truck and I hope they continue to do well :)

Despite the pouring rain, I wanted some sort of Memorial Day weekend feel, so I chose Bigfood from all the choices in The Armory. I am not a huge fan of BBQ sauce drenched meat that a lot of places seem to offer. That’s why the dry roasted BBQ chicken sandwich I ordered was so delicious! It came on a grilled ciabatta bun that was extra chewy, then piled high with a generous portion of meat and apple slaw. The meat wasn’t soaked in BBQ sauce, but instead the smoky flavor came from the right preparation and cooking methods that made the meat so tender and flavorful. I hate mayonnaise, so I loved that the slaw was on the lighter side and added that fresh and crunchy element to the sandwich. My mom had the pulled pork, which was equally satisfying and packed with flavor. For $ 8, I definitely got a filling and balanced sandwich!

Bigfood was one of my favorite food trucks ever! Last year, Bigfood opened up a bricks location in The Armory at Seattle Center. I was super-excited because the truck’s route wasn’t always convenient for me to get to during the week. I went to the grand opening of The Armory, where I was treated to food from many of the vendors. Bigfood provided their signature dishes(on rice for this event). The taste and mixture of tender meat, combined with fantastic flavors blew me away, as it always did. I did miss the flatbread though. My most specific memory of how great the food was dates back to The Bite of Seattle. I am at Seattle Center a lot. With all of the food on the campus that day, my group and I chose to eat at Bigfood. That says a lot. Everything I’ve had from pork to ahi to paneer has been fantastic! I was so in love… Fast forward… the menu, as some have pointed out, has changed. I completely understand why the decision was made. Although I was a strong supporter of Bigfood, I was unable to make it there everyday. They need to serve the people by serving what the people want. I am saddened by the loss of some of the greatest street food I’ve had in Seattle. For awhile, I could catch the truck around town. Alas, the truck is running no more and I am without my beloved Sasquatch. All I have are the memories and pictures that I gaze at longingly. The new menu is okay. I think I would be more enthusiastic if I didn’t know about their food before. I say this because I NEVER ate at The Armory when it was called Centerhouse. I literally walked to Queen Anne or Belltown to eat. For me, the current menu is better than just about anything that was previously served in Centerhouse. The barbecue is a decent portion and filling for me. The mac and cheese is not something that I enjoy because of type of pasta, cheese, and the combination of both. The sloppy joe is okay but typically not my idea of a great meal. The staff is great and I still enjoy seeing and sometimes talking to the owners. I miss the good old days and am always on the hunt for a replacement. There hasn’t been one yet and my sadness continues.

Waaah! I had Bigfood on my must try list for a long time, and I was so excited to see them in the Armory. I took photos of the menu the first day they were opened. But I had eaten lunch that day, so I purposely planned a trip back today, just to try Bigfood. Too late! Bigfood completely changed their menu, just a few months in to opening their first store, because apparently the summer tourists didn’t wanna try flatbread. Noooo! I completely understand needing to keep a new business thriving, but why trade away a great brand and what I understand to be great food, just for the sake of the summer tourists? After all we just have 2 months of summer in Seattle, anyway. The new menu is BBQ, and I did try this today, with high hopes. Unfortunately, my BBQ was just not that tasty. The pulled chicken sandwich was bland. Even the slaw was disappointing: creamy but just not savory enough. Drat. These guys have such a great reputation with their innovative sandwiches and I now am going to have to hustle over to the downtown location to try it. I hate to see them trade away a strength, because the BBQ is just not tasty enough to hang their hat on. So much of business, is repeat, and at this point, I don’t see getting BBQ again at Bigfood. Pretty sure word would have caught on if they stuck to their guns and kept making what their Seattle fans loved. Bummer.
