First time was last week, went with my husband without our kids. He ordered a burrito with pork and I had the enchilada plate. We were both impressed with the service as well as the food. It’s smaller and casual, has a neighborhood feel to it. I can’t remember the name of the cocktail that I had, but it had hibiscus gin and cava, it was really good. We will definitely come back and bring the kids!

Wow, wow, and wow. First, we had an incredibly sweet and adorable waitress, which helped put me at ease since we brought our toddler along(this place is very family friendly by the way). I had a maragarita(easily the best I have had in a while… and strong!), along with chips and salsa(which BOTH appeared to be homemade). Tried the guac too(delicious!). I had the chicken fajitas, and hubby had a chicken taco platter. We loved both. The fajitas were chock full of delicious veggies(mushroom and zucchini along along with tri peppers and onions). It was superb. So glad we tried this place on a lark!

The service is excellent, friendly, and attentive every time. They have a few good beers on draft, and the food is always great. What else could you possibly want?! Oh! I know. Ceviche! They have that too, for damn cheap, and it is delicious!

I have traveled all over Mexico, born and raised in Seattle… Ballard is home. This place is the most authentic place in Ballard! Everything here is awesome since the change in ownership. I recommend the Nachos Camarones(not on the menu) but is the cheesiest, shrimpiest taste bud symphony you have ever tasted this side of the border. The owners put there pride and authentic passion into every dish! 5 stars… no hesitation! Rohn

The name has changed, but the place is pretty much the same as it used to be — delicious food, insanely large portions(consider sharing the burrito) — and, the service is warm and friendly. The disappointment is that the beer selection is marginal: Four taps, three of which are Mexican mainstream. Yes, there are bottles, but. ..

The food is authentic and tasty Mexican dishes. Some of the plates are more like platters which is great if you want a hefty helping. Drink prices are reasonable especially for happy hour. Margaritas are tasty and decent selection of brews. My 2 tacos($ 3 each) were on the smaller side but were fantastic and filling. Staff were genuinely friendly and attentive so we’ll definitely be frequenting this place. UPDATE on 2nd visit: Our server dude totally ripped us off on our happy hour orders, probably won’t be back if the happy hour prices don’t apply when D-bag is working.

Solid food and menu selection. I really enjoyed the chicken tortilla soup. I «accidentally» drank too much tequila last Friday and was sick all day Saturday. My saving grace– chicken tortilla soup. The chicken tamales were also delicious and it’s nice to see this place offers their own twist on Mexican. ¡Sabrosa!

If you’re going to name your restaurant«Tacos and Beer» you should probably be awesome at both of those things. Maybe it was just my assumption, but I figured it would be quick service, affordable, good specials, etc. It’s a sit down place, $ 13-$ 15 a plate and their service is not bad but they got 50% of our order wrong. 4 people and we had all kinds of surprises. This place only has a few beers available and a few tacos. They are good tacos and they do have other food, which is fine, but I just don’t think they know what they want that restaurant to be. Nothing really unique or distinctive. Shame. It’s a killer name and could be a really awesome spot.

Food was your typical sub-par tex-mex(about two steps above Azteca). There was only one waiter working and making drinks, so he was spread pretty thin. He did a good job though, and was very nice.

This place is awesome! Their happy hour makes it even better! The food is amazing. My favorite is al pastor tacos or the chorizo tacos. I feel like this is the new best secret in North Seattle.

Came here because the outside sign is intriguing«Tacos & Beer» and I came in for just that. Started with the Michelada(a kind of Mexican twist on a Bloody Mary) and two chorizo sopes. Both pretty good. The best part came next, my favorite Mexican beer(Sol) and three tacos. Tacos don’t come with rice or beans? Not to worry, you don’t need them. The tacos were jammed packed on double tortillas like my dad eats them. The asada one came with whole pinto beans the way mom cooks them and small pieces of potato. The al pastor tacos were also great, packed with meat and chunks of pineapple. Still trying to find the best of the best al pastor tacos in the Seattle area though. Ordered a side of avocado for the tacos and that sealed the deal! Happy Hour prices are reasonable, give them a shot if you like Mexican.

This place is pretty good. Tacos are delicious, nachos are among the best I’ve ever had, and the roasted corn guacamole is currently my favorite food ever. The cocktails are hit or miss; some of them are great while others are too sweet. Chips seem to be store bought but the salsas are good, especially the mole one. There are plenty of vegetarian options here. \ The service here is interesting. Everyone is really friendly and nice but the staff members all seem to hang out at the bar chatting and eating while on the clock. I don’t have a problem with this necessarily but it is off-putting to watch the server eating and laughing with friends when you are waiting for your food or check to come out.

Not really sure how to feel about this place. My boyfriend and I went on a late night trip to Dicks and he pointed out this place located across the street. We sat in the dicks parking lot, contemplating on what we should eat. Ended up hopping out of the car and running across the street to this taco place. The sign was really cool. It was around 12am, they had disco lights going, loud music, everyone was smiling. We were immediately greeted and chose our own seats. The happy hour is pretty much all day(which is great). Tacos were $ 1.50 each. We ordered 3 chicken and 3 steak. They give chips and salsa while you wait. Both were store bought. The lights were killing our eyes and it was extremely hard to read the menu. We got our food and one of the chicken tacos had barely any meat, the waiter noticed and asked us if we would like some more meat added to it… uh, yeah. We started eating and the tacos were really good. Though, it’s hard to mess up a taco. The steak tacos did come with beans on it(which I have never seen) I’m not a huge fan of beans so I wish they would have said something. I tried it anyway and it was actually pretty good. We noticed a couple sitting to our right looking super uncomfortable, waiting to be seen, while staring at Dicks across the street. They ended up walking out and everyone in the restaurant kind of watched them and over noted their leaving. Making shooing gestures. Then, they returned to karaōke’ing. When the waiter returned with our missing meat, he actually brought a whole new tacos, but at this time we were finished and ready to leave. We asked for the check, which was $ 19 ad should have been $ 9. They fixed it, apologized and then we left. Chill place to go and get drunk, have some cheap tacos and not really care about the setting.

Agree with the previous review. Ordered Camarones al ajo, and it tasted like the mushrooms were soaked in salt water. I love mushrooms and I didn’t even eat half of what they served. Prawn were fresh. My partner ordered chicken wet burrito and it was topped with tons of onions. Had to dig through the the whole burrito to find a few pieces of chicken. Service was good. Although, I asked for rice instead of tortilla, and I was charge $ 3 which rice should’ve been included in my dish. So I had them correct it.

Pros: –near home –decent parking –good prices –fast, friendly service –tons of big prawns in my meal –guy in the back was singing Cons: –chips & salsa kinda blah, maybe from a bag/jar –hubby had fish tacos which were OK but the cabbage had no seasoning or pickle, something to make it non boring. –I ordered Camerones de Ajo which they described as prawns & mushrooms sautéed in a buttery white wine sauce… But all I tasted was butter and worse??? There was WAYTOOMUCHSALT! More salt than movie popcorn. No way they used any wine in cooking, the mushrooms would suck it up like a sponge. Nada. Didn’t get the flavor I expected. Luckily it was $ 12.99 for a plate with rice/beans/salad.

Ate here assuming the remodel meant a thriving business with good food only to find out that we have new owners trying to put lipstick on a pig and over charge you in the process. LWhile I found them to be friendly they were as inept at getting the order right as they are at making the food taste good. Save yourself now and drive another mile south to El Camion, it’s less expensive and really good Authentic Mexican food. There’s a reason this place is attached to a gas station.

Came here with a deal, probably the only way I’d recommend going. Service was staffed by a lone man, who was engaged in conversation with a male(patron?) at the front. He was very gracious and friendly to us, but not the most attentive. Pre-meal chips and salsa were very tasty, salty as I loved! :) However, the Shrimp Fajita, Shrimp Taco, and Carne Asada Taco were all completely lackluster. Though fresh cilantro adored the tacos, all 3 dishes were completely flavorless. The Shrimp Fajita did not come with accompanying beans and rice, either :( Also was out of ice cream for Fried ice cream and Tres leches cake, only had Churros :( Server was sweet and reasonable with us, but not worth coming back.

Good idea — kind folks– but could use a bump in the flavor dept. I really hope that’s not ketchup in the salsa…

They just opened 5 days ago so are understandably still figuring things out. No beer yet! Dang. Got the carne asada and it was good, not great. Chewy in spots, presentation was nice and salsas tasty. Beans black were very good. Extremely nice polite waitress apologizing for the bit of disorganization. Will give it another shot in a few weeks and see if they’re up to 4 stars by then.
