This place rocks. Burritos are awesome. This place could hold its own in the city. Staff is efficient. Salsa bar has a great selection. Good beers. Nice little outdoor patio is the perfect place after a long day.

I think this place deserves 3 ½ stars but can’t do that on Unilocal! There are many positives like the salsa bar is refrigerated, there system of ordering, you pick up your food and bus your own table is very practical. However, the quality of the food was mediocre. I ordered the combination of 1enchilada, 1chile relleno rice and beans. Enchilada sauce was meh, Chile relleno was not the best and the beans were not my favorite. Tip: they have much better beans at Santa Fe market. I also thought it was kind of pricey for what I got, you might as well go to La Tortuga for that price where the quality is much better. Overall, I may try it again one day but it is not my new go to spot.

Inexpensive and great food. My favorite is platter with one fish and one shrimp tacos. It’s nothing exciting to look at but it’s a great hole in the wall taqueria. Chips fresh and warm and good choice of salsa. A quick easy meal. Skip the drinks. 2.50 for a can of soda not worth it.

We’ve driven by many times, but just tried Zarape’s for the first time on Sunday night. We were happy that the place was even open, because we’d decided to get take-out on the spur of the moment on our way home from a long trip, and we were tired and cranky. The service was REALLY fast! My mom and BF both got the carne asada Supreme burrito, and I got the supreme chicken burrito. They were huge!!! After eating mine, I started groaning because it was so good, I couldn’t stop chowing ’till it was completely gone! I really should’ve only eaten half. My mom was only able to get through 1⁄3 of hers, so I got her leftovers today. YUMMY!!! As good as the burritos were though, I’ll have to say that the corn tortilla chips were even better! They were absolutely marvelous! They’re made fresh every day, right there, and they were the best tortilla chips I’ve ever had! We’ll definitely be going back for more!

Moderate price. Carnitas tacos were just fine. Will go back when don’t feel like cooking.

Food was ok. Not great not bad. We tried the Baja shrimp cocktail and it was a little too sweet for are taste. We also tried the shrimp taco plate; ok. All in all the food was good, but we would not go back however.

Some of the best tacos I’ve had in a long time. Got Pastor and Asada. Both meats were very well marinated, tortillas dipped in oil before fried and the salsa, tan sabrosa! A little pricy at almost 3 dollars/per but each taco was piled with meat, cilantro, onions, and salsa. I found my new go to taqueria.

BEST tacos and burritos and just in general really great Mexican food. This is what i consider a good Mexican spot. Beats any other mexican spot in salinas or monterey. Wayyyyyyyy better than nasty chevos.

I ordered a taco salad with carne Asada and it was great. The salsa was fresh even at 9:30 at night. I would like to see chile Colorado on their menu.

This taqueria is tucked up on the west side of Fremont as you hit Seaside coming from Monterey, so the location is not too far out of the way. Parking lot is pretty small, but we didn’t have a problem coming and going in a pickup. The vibe is a mix between the downtown restaurants and the more local dives towards Del Monte and Marina. The prices for the tacos are $ 2.75 which is a pretty good standard for price points. On the service, it was quick enough, café style; you order and then come up and get your food once they call your number. We got a couple of bbq pork burritos with one ordered wet with the red sauce. The meats here are cooked almost crispy, which was amazing. Everything else was pretty standard. The salsa bar featured about 4 choices and the chips were ok. The place seemed decently clean and the outside seating was nice as the weather is pretty mild around here. I would recommend this place to someone wanting tacos — they are better than what you find downtown Monterey, but there are a couple of good dives that still top them on the Peninsula.

This place was pretty good. I got the super chicken quesadilla & my BF got the al pastor tacos, OMGSOGOOD. I was wishing I got what he ordered the entire time. The super quesadilla was pretty good but it was difficult to eat and I really didn’t like the lettuce, it wasn’t fresh lettuce it tasted similar to Taco Bells lettuce. The tacos were so delicious, SOMUCHFLAVOR. We get al pastor tacos all the time and I personally thought they were the best, and my al pastor fanatic BF thought they were second best cause they didn’t come with pineapple.

The food handling practices are unsafe. The cooked or partially cooked MEATSARE in stainless containers that sit next to the flat top griddle to heat to order, on top of the stainless table, UNREFRIGERATED. Today the SALSA I chose for the chips WAS visibly BUBBLING. I hate to say it but I can’t support this business anymore. I really loved it for a while there — But these blatant food mishandling mistakes are certainly going to make people ill. Look for yourself as you can see the food out all day right behind the guy that takes your order. Lo siento. Adiós.

I am on the hunt for a good Mexican food but unfortunately this was not the place. The staff is polite and helpful but the food was below average. The only thing we liked was the shrimp tacos but the rest was just flat. …this saddens me. Also don’t get the super tacos just get the regular one. The super comes out looking like a salad.

It was delicious! It could be just a little cleaner. Right after you order, you can help yourself to a free drink I am not sure what it was but it didn’t didn’t taste bad, maybe cool aide. The massive burrito was fantastic and full of guacamole.

Shrimp tacos have been consistently good, so we decided to try the shrimp burrito. I should have ordered it regular style rather than«super», as the cheese and sour cream did I not go over well. The burrito was huge, beans and rice were good, but no sautéed peppers and onions and very few shrimp this time. The Chicken burrito was very very salty… my friend had to pick the chicken out of it.

This place is all about the tacos, which if I was rating just on those it would be 5 stars. Tacos were awesome! So delicious and just what I have been looking for in the Monterey area for two years. Real, taqueria style tacos. No lettuce, no sour cream, no of the extras. Just meat, cilantro, and onions with some salsa on top. Boom! That’s the business right there. I didn’t try burritos so I can’t say anything about those but the carne asada on my taco was awesome and the carnitas on the other was ok, I’d say a little on the wet side but still tasty. The down side was the beans. I think they forgot to salt them! They were terrible. The rice was ok, but that’s all ok with me, I just wanted the tacos. I was also really happy to see the salsa bar and escabeche! Yum. Between this place and Michaels I have mexican food covered.
