Arrington Wellness & Recovery Ranch

Another 5 star stay at the Arrington Wellness and Recovery Ranch! The festive décor was better than ever this year, but I have to give a special shout out to all the delicious food! Just check out these latkes!
My husband found the Ranch especially restful this trip, falling asleep on several occasions mid-​conversation, mid-​snack, and mid-​party game. What can I say? He blames all the cozy blankets!

As a regular patron of Wellness & Recovery establishments– in part due to my methamphetamine and, oddly enough, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup addiction, I was excited to try the Arrington Wellness & Recovery Ranch. I had heard a lot about it, mainly from the voices in my head, but also my friend Earl, who normally loiters around the Mr. Falafel in Morgan Hill.
Now I know what you’re thinking. «did ya bring your sidearm into their home?» … well of course, and they were actually very nice about it. I explained to them my need to protect the constitution from all enemies — both foreign and domestic and they kindly agreed to let me open carry the side arm so long as I stopped yelling racial epithets during, what the Ranch calls, «quiet hours.» (thanks Obama)
All in all, I would highly recommend the Arrington Wellness & Recovery Ranch to everyone in need of R&R or, say, a hide out for 7 – 10 days. I’m not saying you HAVE to be running away from something or someone to stay here, but if you were running… this is a damn fine establishment. God Bless America and God Bless God. Thank you.

Really inconvenient location if you are coming from the Boston area. NONE of these ‘glowing’ reviews take into account it would take 47 hours of continuous driving just to get there. Of course their website doesn’t mention this factoid at all. Hmph.

I’ve been to Monterey, CA three times and each of those times I’ve stayed at the Arrington Wellness & Recovery Ranch.
Pros:
1. Wonderful, generous, welcoming hosts
2. Spacious accommodations and sleeping accoutrements (think spacious L couch & cozy cable knit throw)
3. All you can eat — this isn’t a bed and breakfast in the traditional sense… lunch and dinner are served too!
4. A pretty friendly dog … despite the fact he has little current sense of his own, rather large, self.
5. A place to practice mindfulness and rejuvenate (it is a recovery ranch after all).
Cons:
1. While there are no direct payments required at the Arrington Wellness & Recovery Ranch, membership barriers to entry (as other reviewers have mentioned) are steep. The initiation process is a lengthy endeavor which many hopefuls likely won’t have the stamina, ability or even opportunity to weather (despite the obvious rewards).
2. Distance. While it is quite proximate to Monterey’s downtown, it’s not extremely close to San Francisco. The hosts should consider moving their ranch some miles north (Santa Cruz?).
Ultimately the cons require a 1 star deduction (from an otherwise sterling experience). If con number 2 can be adequately addressed I will reconsider re-​rating on Unilocal

This is our favorite place to stay in Monterey. The hosts are amazingly gracious and sweet. Also, their frittatas will knock your socks off. Can’t recommend it enough!

Breathtaking views of Monterey Bay from the hills of Seaside. Inside of the house is like stepping into a Pottery Barn magazine, but with more charm and personality. Wonderful back deck to enjoy your morning coffee on or to wind down the evening next to the fire pit. Quick 20min jaunt down to Cannery Row and all the sights. The Arrington’s are the perfect hosts– so friendly and welcoming. They really listen to you and are genuinely interested in learning about you! They make a mean breakfast which makes you want to stay for lunch and dinner! They also have a big goofy lab that loves to be loved! You definitely leave here with your soul rejuvenated and your belly full of goodness! A great stop for a weekend in this coastal town. Oh yeah, they have super soft heavenly sheets!
