Maya Day + Nightclub

Wow this place is piss poorly ran, from the security to the bar. Tried to get a table but they said one of our friends looked dazed. We waited in line and finally got in only after the security talked shit and harassed everyone because the girls were from Mexico and didn’t want to speak English to him. Which shouldn’t be a problem if they have I.D. and we not intoxicated. After we got in the place was packed and could barely get drinks. The floor was also sticky and the bathrooms were trashed. Yeaaaa real nice upscale place you guys run;) not going back unless to spit on the building and talk shit to the bouncers.

I used to love coming to this place. I even got a cabana on my 21^st birthday a few years back. I would frequently attend this nightclub a few times a month for many years.
This past summer I recommended to my close friend that he have his birthday at Maya for Makj. I believe the event was August 30. He had never been and he always saw how highly I spoke about the club.
The entire day things seemed to be going fine. We had gotten a cabana and had a negotiated price that we had set prior. The problems happened when it was time to pay the tab. My friend had set a few thousand dollars aside for his birthday but the tab wasn’t supposed to be more than $ 1500 or so. When he gave the bottle waitress his card, she came back shortly and said it was declined. What she had done was swipe his card 3 times, and charged it $ 1500 each time. So now his card was no longer able to be used and his account was frozen.
I then ended up taking cash out of the atm to pay the bill (which had a limit and charged additionally each time). So I paid cash and was told the charges to my friends card would be dropped. Well that next week only ²⁄₃ charges were dropped! Getting ahold of someone in charge was beyond a nightmare on that following Monday-​Wednesday. We still never got his refund.
So in short, this entire experience has ruined this nightclub for me. It was always my favorite before this. I would get a few tables throughout the year with my friends, but now we gladly go elsewhere. When you’ve spent the entire day drinking by the pool, the last thing you want to deal with is waitresses that freeze bank accounts.

I would not recommend anyone with self respect to spend their time or money at Maya. I went to Maya to see Kygo the night before Halloween. The venue itself was nice but the crowd was to dense that night. The service at bar was typical of what you would expect, rushed with poorly made drinks. Nevertheless this is not why I give Maya a one star rating. MY DISTASTE FOR MAYA IS IN HOW SECURITY TREATS THEIR GUESTS. The night I went to Maya I found myself next to a single female who was getting antagonized by three bullies, (two girls and one guy). When I saw that drinks started flying I immediately rushed in to defuse the situation by standing in between them to try to brake it up. Moments later security rushes in and drags me away as if I was the antagonist, no questions asked… In the mean time the original two parties that had started the altercation were left inside the club without removing any of them. Now I understand how their can be some confusion with the loud music and the crowd being that thick but what I find offensive was the violent manor at which security chose to remove me from their facility. That night I was literally pummeled by security all the way to the back door while all along I repeatedly called to them saying «I will leave, I will leave there is no need for this » with my hands raised in the air showing them that I was not trying to fight back. The next morning I woke up stiff with my arms bruised from my shoulder down. This is not the first time I hear that Maya is known for having security issues but I never figured that the level of violence and incompetence would be this. I took the liberty of taking photos of my bruised arms to show where security squeezed me In trying to flex their authority. These will be online shortly. I definitely won’t be back to Maya and will make it a point to suggest to my circle of friends never to go either.

Meh, considering this is closest thing you can get to Vegas in Arizona, it will survive for now.
The venue itself (without the crowd) is pretty up-​to-​date and hip. I came here once for dayclub and once for nightclub. I would definitely choose nightclub over dayclub (weird because I love Vegas dayclubs). Maybe I just went on the wrong day, but there were wayyyyyyy too many people and the Hennessy shot prices were RIDICS. Speaking of which, I remember before that clubs didn’t use to carry it, why Arizona?! WHY?!

The only reason I came here was because the MOHs of the wedding party I was in planned my friends bachelorette outing here.
We arrived just after they opened, which IMO. is the BEST time to get here. There were plenty of seats. We chose our spot and proceeded to get drinks. Their drink prices are actually decent compared to some other clubs in Scottsdale and very well made. The bartender even got out a case of ginger beer to make our one straight edge friend her fave nonalcoholic drink all day.
The pool temp was really nice. We stayed for about 2 ½ hours until the DJ and stereo typical Scottsdale crowd became too much to handle.
I definitely won’t be returning, but it’s really just not my scene.

For anyone who wants to hear about the bs I had to deal with this Saturday listen up! This review is a shout out to the hypocrisy of their bouncers.
Saturday was suppose to be epic as Little John was in town and I had paid $ 20 before door prices. Although I understand that there are 3 different lines to the front door (the normal paying person, the VIP line and the table line). I was in the normal line, so I understand if anyone wants to «educate» me on raging in Old town, but news flash, I’m literally known as Ratchetman in Old town so save yourself some time.
Anyways, I was in line for 40 minutes, 20 of them we literally did not move and I was 2 people behind during that time before we could get in.
So I figured I’d ask the bouncer a few questions so I could understand the holdup. At first he SEEMED fair with his explanation as he stated they were at capacity, which ok cool I get it. But I kid you not 2 minutes later I see them let in 10… I repeat myself TEN PEOPLE… ALL DUDES in who just showed up seconds ago.
So I was livid. Let him know that I saw what happened and I want an answer, but he got defensive as if my question was personel… well guess what!?! I was taught if it smells like crap, looks like crap and taste like carp well then it’s gonna be crap. So there was gonna be questions.
After the situation started heating up he told me that even if the line moves he will not let me in… ok so now it’s MY FAULT THAT YOURE A LIAR!?!
Congratulations you tool. I go out at least 3 times a week to Oldtown and I will be telling my colleagues, no matter if it’s a good friend or someone who’s visiting for the weekend from out if state.
You wanna know what I’ll tell them? I’ll tell the about Bottle Blonde, Hefe, The W, Cake, Beevy, Dakota… I’ll tell them to go to Mill before I tell them to go to Maya/​District (which from my understanding you work at too).
Why? It’s because your final words were, «have fun getting a refund online»

I spent the whole day and night here for Sunday on Labor Day weekend. It was awesome!!! skrillex came through for the pool party to DJ and it felt like Las Vegas. I’m definitely coming back on a holiday weekend. Scottsdale is the place to be

All of these employees think they are running the best night club in Vegas truth is you are in Arizona so humble yourself and quit acting like you get paid more then $ 8 dollars an hour with your cheap suits. You disgust me even tho I still walk in with no problem I still don’t like your poor attitudes. These guys expect you to empty your pockets at the door to get in then they just might crack a smile eat shit. Beware of the door guys all cock suckers I highly recommend entering threw district if you choose to even go to this sorry excuse of a over rated trashy poorly managed bar. Stop hiring people with GEDs and drug addictions.

I can’t hate on Maya. I go to a lot of EDM events, and Maya books a lot of well-​known DJs. However, on nights they don’t have special events, this club is kinda shady. I was followed around one night by some creepy guy. He was unusually persistent, and then got really threatening when I turned him down. To their credit, security was awesome and got him out of there right away. I haven’t been back for another night that wasn’t a special event of some kind, though.

Decided to try and give this place another shot. Still disappointed. I ordered a table for my birthday and was told different pricing by the promoter Clarence, then when I get to the door they increased the price on me. The service was horrible, we barely saw our bottle girl the whole night, and they force you to pay at least 20 percent gratuity. Not to mention everything is overpriced.

So, I was on the northeast pole dancing and the girl in VIP said something to me but I ignored her because she was drunk. I was dancing for a good while when my friend joined me and AGAIN that girl went up to her and told her she can’t be up there. My friend was polite but that girl still pushed her and she just about fell off before I grabbed her. Now I don’t care who you are screwing to be in VIP but when you physically do anything harmful to anyone that should be you automatically getting kicked out. I told the security guard why he only talked to my friend but not the girl who harmed her. please tell me how that is okay?! He straight up lied to me talking about. «We talked to both parties and they agreed» lol I was like wtf? I was standing there the whole time and not ONCE did anyone talk to that girl.
If I didn’t catch my friend before she fell off she could’ve seriously been hurt and the safety of people in the club should’ve been priority instead of the pole being for VIP only. I’m so disgusted in this place right now with how they handled the situation.

I bought tickets for two events at Maya recently. We went to the Borgeous pool party & we had a blast, but honestly the places in Vegas are better.
What I am more upset about is the second show I had bought tickets for. They had a show scheduled with klingande, and it was rescheduled. Because the first show was cancelled, they sent out an email saying all ticket holders could get refunds on the Klingande tickets. I’ve now been waiting over three months for someone to get back to me about getting me refund, and I’ve emailed them several times. It’s kinda a rip off that you cancel a show and never refund the tickets!!!

Dayclub is super overrated. Kind of a $&#% show with less than stellar music. I was told we would be able to get the Vegas experience in AZ here but that’s definitely not the case. The music is like KISSFM (if you like that, then great!) but not somewhere worth paying a hefty cover for to pay for drinks on top of (particularly if you’re a girl! You can go almost anywhere for free, trust.)

The club is a really nice club with a pool and a Vegas-​like feel… but the only difference is the place was pretty empty and the DJ was not good. It probably was due to the fact that when we went (Saturday night) on the big Pac vs Mayweather fight… all the good DJs were probably in Vegas. The DJ that night wasn’t that great, he had too many breaks and didn’t transition well.
The venue itself is nice– one of the nicer clubs I’ve been too. I like the fact that they have drink stations outside so you don’t have to ask the bartender for water. The crowd was a bit young… and rowdy. As there were many «bros» and «hoes». There were a lot of amazonish looking females, I almost gotten crushed by 3 of them while dancing, they were at least 5’10 with heels and huge. It was pretty empty… even when we left closer to 1. Maybe it’s just a super big club? We didn’t feel the club that night… and to exit was confusing! We had to walk through another bar to get out and that bar was small and jammed pack. It was hard to get through the rowdy bros to leave. At least that night we didn’t have to pay cover.
The drinks were pretty cheap (comparing to SD). I guess Maya is kind of like Vegas’s little step brother… maybe once or twice removed.

Drinks were expensive for what was served. Great crowd of people and it was a lot of fun. There was a bartender outside at the pool area who was extremely rude about me not tipping enough. He made it known and loudly that I don’t like to tip enough and that he guesses he’s working for me for free. I was like «wtf is your problem». Completely ungrateful as if he wasn’t going to be making hundreds that night anyways.
That was poor customer service!

The club was likely okay, but it reminded me of how old I am. I bought two tickets to see Ice Cube, which I was reluctant to do because it was a Sunday night and I work early. But the ticket said the hours of operation on Sunday was 8pm — 12 am. I thought it seemed short, but I reviewed the club’s Facebook page and the same information was shown. Accepting the information as accurate, I thought Ice Cube would probably come on around 9:30 or 10, play for an hour, and then end. As I was getting ready to leave I again consulted the ticket and found a dress code that stated no hats, t-​shirts, shorts, or sneakers. So I dressed accordingly.
We arrived at the club about 8:20 and the line was stretched down the sidewalk. No one entered yet. I get the false creation of a line so that it looks very busy and causing people driving by to want to stop and see what’s happening. But it was chill and I knew I would be tired by the end of the night. Plus most of the people in line were middle aged white people, so they were just as old and just as tired as me. Finally we get in about 8:45. A DJ is playing and people are mostly just standing around. It was spacious with two VIP sections surrounding a dance area. We stood on behind the VIP on the ramp, but eventually security told us to move because it was going to be crowded. It wasn’t crowded yet. I attempted to order a drink — my wife likes Smirnoff Ice. They didn’t have it. She asked for a piña colada, but they couldn’t make it. I said just make me something of whatever you can make and ended up with some watermelon cocktail that was okay. I ordered a coke, and it was $ 10 for two drinks. That’s not too bad.
We went back to waiting. Apparently there were multiple DJs. I honestly couldn’t tell because it all sounded the same to me. Most people were just standing around, but a few were dancing. My thought was why pay to go to a club to listen to some guy play songs on the computer when I could do that at home or in my car? But again, I am old. 9:30 came and went, as did 10, and 10:30. No Ice Cube. I was thinking it doesn’t leave much time if they close by 12. Next a large crowd of people came in and filled the VIP areas and dance floor. I thought now we are getting somewhere, but time marched on. I scanned the crowd and noticed at least 20 dudes wearing caps, t-​shirts, and sneakers. Getting frustrated, I asked the security guy what time the show was going to start. He said by 12, to which I asked curiously I thought they closed at 12. He said no, it is actually 2… despite the ticket and the Facebook page saying otherwise. Then again the dress code apparently is just a suggestion too. I started calculating in my head — 12 o’clock to start, probably play for an hour. that’s 1… then drive home, probably 1:45 and then 2 before I got to bed. Getting up at 5 would really suck. I have wanted to see Ice Cube for a while — I was an original member in the Lynch Mob fan club… but alas work called, and said screw it, and we left at 11:15 with no Ice Cube.
I am not sure why information such as hours of operation and dress codes are printed on tickets if they are not accurate. It sucked that I didn’t get to see Ice Cube, but I guess $ 40 to realize the club scene is well behind me was money well spent.

This place is making a name for itself by bringing the big name DJs to Scottsdale. Its really nice that avid edm music fans can go see David Guetta, Tiesto or Steve Aoki in their backyard.
Drinks are pretty reasonable for a spot that is pretty comparable to Vegas. The scene is awesome. Everyone ranges from 21 – 35 and just has a good time.
During the day this place is a good experience too– you can get a cabana and melt away in the arizona sun.
Definitely recommend. But like all bars– the bouncers can be pretty irrational (like charging full price for Nervo at 1:30 AM)
