This is based on a number of visits in the past 6 months. I’m always amazed at the ridiculously good prices. They have dollar beers on Sundays during football season. My favorite thing on the menu is the chicken finger sub. It reminds me of the ones I would order from restaurants in Western NY. It’s certainly the closest thing to that experience that I’ve experienced in the Atlanta area. The pizza isn’t the best in town, but I do like it and haven’t ever been disappointed by it. The servers are always friendly and the service is good. I see some complaints about the décor, but I have no problems for it. It has a real 80s feel and I kinda like that.

I am a regular customer, good food, excellent prices. I can’t complain about customer service, their calzone is huge for $ 3.50. Its a mom and pops restaurant, infrastructure is outdated, but I visit for the food and service. Usually there is 1 – 2 servers, and I might see why in a rush setting they may have difficulty. I have never had an issue, the ladies are nice. Give them a shot, I took the time to write this review because I love the place and many of the comments seem to be unfair.

Picked up a large meat lover’s and large veggie pizza solely based on the fact that it was the closest pizza joint and had online ordering through Unilocal. The location was totally empty on a Friday at 12:30pm(bad sign). The restaurant’s really dark and has the feel of an old, abandoned bar. The staff was very prompt and nice. The pizza was hot and fresh, but it was nothing special…

/TL;DR Based on the reviews, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Based on the experience, the reviews were pretty much correct. /ATMOSPHERE You know when you walk in and get that musty smell? That never sits right with me so it probably started it off on the wrong foot. It was also rainy and cold. The space itself was cold. Literally cold. I kept my jacket on the whole time. it was big and empty. Makes me sad. /FOOD Had a greek salad — which was quite amazing. The pizza, on the other hand, which reviews seem to indicate as the thing to order here, wasn’t that great. It was a step above putting a frozen one in the oven. /SERVICE Manic. Clearly not staffed for the people or the orders. It took forever just to get the order taken and a check processed. HOWTOREADMYREVIEWS: 1 Star — Does not approach edible. Enter at your own risk. 2 Stars — If I’m in the area, I’d pick something else. 3 Stars — I would stop by if I happen to be in the area. 4 Stars — I would pick this place out of other places nearby. 5 Stars — I would go out of my way to dine here.

Stick to take out pizza, it is just right. Other items are hit and miss. We have eaten here once for table service and it was a busy night(live music) and there were not enough waitresses for the number of customers.

This place is inconsistent at best, and mediocre most of the time. Today was an all time low as after sitting in the restaurant for almost 15 minutes, we had to leave since there was nobody visible to ask for service. We looked in the bar, the front by the cash register, and all of the seating area. I’m not sure where the employees were, but all we could hear were the too-loud TV’s in the bar, and a DOGBARKINGINTHEBACK. Yes, a dog. In a restaurant. At first we thought we heard it outside, or that we hadn’t heard correctly at all, but then it became apparent that it was in fact a dog, barking and Unilocaling continuously for almost the entire 15 minutes we sat there and was easily heard from everywhere in the restaurant as we walked around searching for an employee. When we finally gave up and left, I even called them to let them know what happened and was rudely attended to by the young woman who answered the phone. She«apologized» by saying«sorry, but what did you want me to do, there was only one employee here. There’s another one here now if you want to come back.» Funny she should have said that, since we knew the other employee just arrived. We knew because they literally almost ran their car smack into us as they flew into the parking lot going at least 35 – 40(this is a tiny parking lot!) and whipped it into one of the 2 spots right in front of the restaurant. On to the food from past experiences(since we didn’t eat today): The only good thing I have eaten here consistently are the french fries. The quality of everything else seems to be directly relative to the mood of the cook for that day. And everything takes FOREVER to come out, which I wouldn’t even mind as long as the food was good. Unfortunately for AJ’s, this is rarely the case. I’ve gotten the chicken parm sandwich 3 different times and 2⁄3 it was overcooked and dry. The 3rd time was actually pretty good. My co-worker ordered the fettucine alfredo and paid extra to add shrimp. $ 3.25 buys you exactly 2 shrimp, ladies and gentlemen. 2 whole shrimp. That’s it. COMPLETELY not worth the money. Other sandwiches are just so-so, and the pizza and/or calzones are hit or miss depending on the day. It’s unfortunately that the employees of this establishment, and perhaps even the owners themselves care so little about providing a quality service, product, and environment because it’s lovely to have a mom and pop place nearby for lunch, but AJ’s fails on all counts. While others find the décor charming, I find it nothing more than dingy and outdated. The«cleanliness» is suspect because while most surfaces APPEAR clean, there is a lingering odor throughout the whole restaurant of spoiled milk(probably due to the unclean carpet they have in the dining room). The service is always slow, the food is even slower, and although I’ve tried to give this place a chance multiple times due to it’s proximity and affordable prices, after today I am done. Hopefully AJ’s folks get it together and figure this out before everyone writes them off for good, it’d be a shame to see them shut their doors for something that could be fixed with a little effort.

Delicious food! There was hardly anyone in the restaurant when my friends and I went, so it took a few minutes to get service. I was planning on getting dessert but I was too stuffed from the eggplant lasagna, bread, and mushrooms.

This was our third and final time eating at Anthony’s. We just moved to Scottdale less than 2 months ago. Anthony’s is a few blocks away from us, so we started going there for the convenience. I cook nearly every night, but the nights I don’t feel like it, we always order out. We had good pizza from Anthony’s our first week here, followed by ok pizza the next time. Tonight we decided to try something different. Mistake. My husband’s cheese sticks were fine. My son’s chicken strips were overcooked and dry. My lemon pepper wings were horrid. HORRID. Tiny and almost black. Overcooked to the nth degree. And I’ve never had horrible lemon pepper wings until tonight. Thanks Anthony’s. No amount of ranch could cover up the taste. Into the trash they went. And I was hangry. Not only was our dinner a major disappointment, but it took them 1 ½ hours to deliver. And we are blocks away. No one called, we had to call after an hour to check what was up. Mind you, yes we could have picked it up, but we both had been drinking beer so we decided to do delivery instead. Another mistake. Our food was so cold, we had to reheat it in the oven, which took another ½ hour before we could eat dinner, after already waiting 1 ½ hours! That’s 2 hours total to wait to eat dinner. My hangry level went through the roof after that first horrid taste. We could have been regulars since we live so close, but this was unacceptable and we will never eat here again. They are inconsistent and do not care if your food is cold, and clearly the cook has had a bad night or does not care or both. You’ve been warned. Go to Pallookaville, Skips, or grab a prepared meal from the Farmer’s Market. You won’t have wasted your money, and you will be happy.

Great prices. My husband and I just moved to the Scottdale area and were curious about their special — 25 wings for $ 8, 2 small pizzas for $ 6. Seemed like a red flag, but we went in with our expectations low, and were pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere is friendly and nostalgic of 90s pizza places, including the décor. We went in with a friend and split these specials and a couple slices of feta and banana peppers. All of which were very good, much better than we expected with the price in mind). The wings were about as small as they came, as forewarned by the server, who was very cheerful, but the hot sauce and lemon pepper were on point. Can’t complain about the size anyway, when there are 25 of them. That and a cheap pitcher of beer… we were happy and will definitely go back to this spot.

Half star for our server, Terrell(not sure about how to spell his name). Half star for the surprise décor in the restaurant. My husband’s pizza was nice but was thick, which I didn’t like. Flavor was ok. I had the Linguine & clams in white wine, garlic & onion sauce. 1) what came was spaghetti, not linguine 2) what came were minute clams that came from a can, menu showed fresh clams in shells 3) the white sauce was white, flavorless, diluted soup 4) the onions weren’t cooked, the crunchy, raw onions shocked my taste buds. The chef did not let the onions sweat in the oil. Therefore lacked flavor 5) there was no taste/smell/aroma of garlic. I believe the chef did not bother to fragrant the garlic or even put any in the dish 6) the 2 slices of garlic bread that came with the dish were oily and soggy 7) i freaking found a short curly hair in my dish! 8) the dish needs some colour, needs some chopped herbs for contrast Overall, how this dish was done showed that the chef was clearly not interested, & did not take pride in what he/she was doing. A harsh review, but I think I can make this dish better than what I experienced today.

The wait staff was unusually absent, or slow most of the time. My buddy had to get up and find her to pay. I also noticed she would go back into the kitchen for a while. Maybe she was cooking and waiting? I ordered a ceasar with shrimp on it. What I got was. well not exactly what I was hoping for. They are quite literal in their descriptions, and the ingredients aren’t the best of the batch. The shrimp were Thai shrimp I guess, the tiny ones — just thrown on top of some lettuce with cheese and croutons. The tuna sub was, well. tuna, tomatoes, on a piece of bread. They forgot I wanted to make it a melt. If you’re starving: it’s food, it’s ok, you’d eat it. However, if you were expecting a nice night out to dinner: not exactly that.

Yeah this is the type of place that they show on any given Restaurant Rescue show, the food is OK& has more choices than your normal mom & pop places. Staff seems to be made up of young people & as young people go they couldn’t really care to help you if it stops them from updating Facebook on their phones or playing candy crush. Would I stop here all the time? no, not with Savage Pizza not that far away. But every now & then I’d stop by for a Baked Ziti or Lasagna.

First impression was good as we walked in past the abandoned pasta machine I was hopeful we would find fresh hand made food ahead. We were seated under bunch of whirlying fans which I personally can’t stand. Then we ordered our drinks that came out in… the waiters pants. Yep, stowed away in his pockets. We began to ask questions about the menu but the server couldn’t tell us about any of it, he had never tried it. Not a good sign. While questioning we also find out none of the food was homemade, all frozen. Then comes the garlic bread. Okay maybe it was butter bread cause that’s all we could taste or see. I got meatball sub and fries with a side of ranch. Well what they called ranch, I passed it up and went for the ketchup on my fries. The fries are like checkers fries. The meatball sub was not something to make me come back for. And then redemption! We found out all the desserts, pizza dough, and breads are made in their bakery. So I will be back to try the pizza and I’m taking dessert home for later!

I really really want this place to be good, because the atmosphere is nice and the help is fun. But the food kind of sucks. The first time there we had pizza, and the crust had a weird taste, like mud. The second visit we had baked ziti, which looked good, but the pasta was overcooked mush and the meatballs were spongy and strangely tasteless. And the cheesecake was downright awful — unless you like the taste of Elmer’s glue. Very limited beer selection. Prices are outstanding, but I’d be willing to pay more for better quality. I feel terrible about this, because I like the place and really liked the people who waited on us, but I just can’t with the food.

You guys, this is the worst place. My friend’s band played there and I was so excited to watch them. This place is close to my house, there’s parking, and you can be guaranteed no one cool will be there to intimidate you. They don’t have a full bar, so you’ll have to drink beer or wine, or bring your flask. The food options sound good but are all mediocre, at best. We knew better but ordered some mozzarella sticks anyway, figuring you can’t fuck up fried cheese. Oh how wrong we were! The only flavor was of the grease, the texture was off, and the coating didn’t even have those flecks of fake parsley; it was all just beige and terrible. Other people ordered pizza and a sandwich, and no one finished or enjoyed their food. I really, really don’t understand how this place has stayed in business, or why they continue to try. I think making a batch of pizza dough and limiting the other options would result in cheaper costs and better food but what the hell do I know. I will say that a restaurant with that much freezer space(like half their outside patio is entrances to coolers) probably doesn’t care how fresh or delicious their foodstuffs are.

I had passed this place several times and curiously wanted to check it out since its’ pretty close to me. The reviews looked OK so I popped in today. It’s a really big place; a really big empty place, but it WAS the middle of the day on a weekday. The décor is sports bar-ish — tons of places to sit and TVs and its’ dimly lit. The waitress was super nice and attentive. Now for the food. The menu is HUGE which, in my experience, has usually been a bad sign. Pasta, sandwiches, pizza, etc. I decided to play it safe and stick with a slice of deep dish pizza with pepperoni, jalapenos and sundried tomatoes. My friend ordered some honey BBQ wings — I had a couple. So first, let me say something about the prices. Ridiculously cheap. The«slice» of pizza I got, which was really the size of two delivery pizza slices, was only $ 2.25. The 10 wings were only 3 bucks. This is a great place to get something decent if you’re on a budget. They had signs that said they have $ 5 pitchers on certain nights — awesome. BUT you get what you pay for. In my opinion, the pizza was a slight cut below Dominos delivery pizza. And I like Dominos these days. Sometimes you’re just in the mood for that kind of pizza. But the ingredients just tasted very cheap; the sundried tomatoes were obviously right out of a jar. I could barely taste them and sundried tomatoes usually have ALOT of flavor. It tasted like pizza buffet pizza. Eh. The wings hardly had any meat on them and were covered in a sticky honey BBQ sauce. Just edible. I may come back for the $ 5 beer pitchers and try something different, but I will probably just stay home and order a pizza if I want that kind of pizza. :/

I agree with everyone else here, cheap food with good service. Took my lady and the chirren last night, early, and the place was dead as hell. That worried me a little but we came on in, parking is super easy with a huge lot and the building is very big inside, room for a whole mess of people if they ever wanted. We were greeted quick, sat down, and scanned the big menu. It’s very big, with plenty of choices, maybe too many, as we debated what to get for over 20 minutes. The décor is very old, cheesy even, but it’s clean and well sorted at least and inviting enough. I chose the two for one special on the 10″ pizza, $ 7.99 for a meal and half(I’m eating leftovers now). My lady got a single deep dish slice for $ 2.50 and was full, the chirren got a calzone that was damn huge($ 5.95) and has at least 2⁄3 of it left to finish this week. Definitely bang for the buck here. Beer is cheap too, though the list leaves a lot to be desired. As far as quality, meh. It wasn’t bad, just nothing I’d break my neck to get again. We got full though, paid less than anticipated and less than anywhere else for the same amount of food, which are pluses. Not a bad experience overall.

For what it is, we LOVE Anthony’s. Key phrase being«for what it is.» It’s very, very, cheap. Delightfully so. And, like all things in life, you get what you pay for. I think at Anthony’s, though, the customer actually comes out on the better end of the deal. And that’s what keeps us going back. Some features at Anthony’s will literally charm your socks off – they have wine bottles decoratively lining the shelf above the bar that are filled with water and recorked. And we’re talking $ 3 Walmart vintage, here. I had to laugh that they had so little faith in their clientele that they couldn’t put real, full bottles out. Also, the specials sometimes are hilarious. There was a wing special we tried once and we literally cracked up after the waitress left. The poor little chickens who were slaughtered – each pitiful bony wing MIGHT have had one bite of meat on it. But again, you get what you pay for. The spaghetti is good, and comes with a side salad and garlic bread, and all for less than 5 bucks. Wine and beer are cheap. Pizza is cheap and okay – maybe a little above Hungry Howie’s caliber. They also have a precious open mic night for middle schoolers one weeknight. What can I say? The place has a lot of heart, I like it, and I’ll be going back for seconds.

This place has really great and CHEAP food! You get a lot of bang for your buck here. It is true that the place lacks any style when it comes to décor but it still has a nice family restaurant feel to it. Scottdale is VERY limited to restaurants, I for one am grateful to have stumbled across Anthony’s. I was very pleased with my food and the prices. There were a mom/daughter serving team. They were really great and welcoming. I assumed they were the owners. This place is not fancy. Give it a chance and I think you will be pleased.
