We live in Scituate and love Oro. Come here often with my husband to enjoy cocktails & apps at the bar, or occasionally sit down and dine for a fancier dinner. Looks like they will soon also be offering lunch hours in addition to Sunday Brunch which we’re excited about! Favorites include the calamari, and steak frites(seasonal), and array of excellent cocktails. Also their complementary warm focaccia is a really nice touch.

Grew up in the harbor. Food is okay. Mainly disappointed in the service. The bartenders are rude. I grew up on the street above and the food was good and service was nice. The bartenders and servers now we’re mean and rude. Would not recommend

I always heard great things about this restaurant. However the waitress brought the whole experience down. She spent a disordinate amount of time gossiping with her Scituate friends instead of serving the restaurant’s clients. The martinis were not cold and the waitress blamed the bartender. The food was very good but the deserts were just ok. The ice cream sandwich tasted like a frozen treat from any corner store. Nobody said goodnight and thank you but the hostess looked great in her orange long dress …

We ate lunch here. There were a number of Flys flying around. My hamburger was actually pretty good. Taisted, a little different however quite good. The staff never cleared the table after we finished.

Sunday brunch! Although our kids were the only ones in the restaurant, we didn’t feel out of place at all. Loved the menu! I ordered the juevos rancheros(served on corn tortillas, my GF friends!!). My kids ordered a plate of maple glazed doughnuts to share before their eggs and fruit and burgers came out. Whoa. Dessert!!! Those donuts looked amazing. My husband and I enjoyed a spicy Bloody Mary and listened to the live music while the kids silently chowed down on their sweet treat. Such a great meal, nice service, and the perfect spot for a Sunday meal in the harbor.

Great service at the bar for dinner. Combinations of flavors in lamb appetizer and lobster cakes entrée were incredible.

My husband and I just moved to Scituate and have heard good things about Oro. We tried it for the first time last night. It was awesome! 1) drinks. Get the Painkiller. So good. Fun drink! We felt like we were on vacation 2) setting was nice — although I wish they had outdoor seating 3) appetizers — delish. We got the cheese board — it was lovely and a fun dish to pick at while we sipped our cocktails. They provide free focaccia bread as well 4) I got the corn chowder — with bacon and clams for my main course. So good. Rich and filling. My husband got the striped bass — he said it was delicious — there wasn’t a morsel left for me to try ;) Overall, great spot for a nice dinner. We might go back for painkillers and apps at the bar. But also a good place for a nice occasion. Service and food presentation was very good.

I grew up in Scituate Harbor and had the chance to eat at Oro last week while visiting my family. I’m used to fairly average food in the area and so was very happy to eat a meal that I think rivals any fine seafood I’ve had around the country right in Scituate Harbor! We started with a dozen oysters that were excellent and fresh and came with good condiments, we requested extra horseradish and it was delivered quickly. I had a striped bass special, which I found out later was caught by the owner himself in local waters(my Dad chats with the owner at the docks now and then)!!! Striped bass is very oily and pungent having a very strong«fishy» flavor that would be off-putting for many. The chef clearly understood this in the preparation; the skin was given a very strong crisp since this is where most of the oil is the crisping helps to moderate the flavor. The fish was placed on two fritters which were well salted and everything sat on a nice mellow tomato based gazpacho sauce. The acidity and flavor of the sauce allowed me to perfectly adjust for the oil in the fish on each bite. It was one of the most well crafted fish dishes I’ve ever had and that’s using a fish that is not considered a high end desirable fish at all. My wife had lobster fritters that were excellent and also perfectly salted(this is something many cooks/chefs have trouble with). Our dessert was a layered mousse that I thought was amazing. I’m very happy to know Oro is just a walk from my folks house and I plan to return as often as I can!

Outstanding food and customer service for this West Coaster. Was in the area on business and this place was a perfect to take clients and colleagues. Good drink selection and wine list as well.

we’ve dined at Oro’s on several occassions and always have been pleased with the dishes and service. However this past Saturday night was not a pleasant experience. We are aware that it can be a bit noisy and vibrant but that night was exceptionally loud but due to a large party. The volume was unbearable. So much so that we could not carry a conversation with our friends, who were out celebrating two of our birthdays. We asked the server if she could say something to the table, but she responded that the manager asked her not to. Not sure why that was? We glanced over at the rowdy crowd a few times hoping to catch their attention but instead fueled someone in the party to shout out at us and basically telling us to leave if we didn’t like it. It was not a comfortable position to be put in We asked for the manager who did explain that her hands were tied. Again, why? We noticed a couple of parties asked to be relocated to the lounge, and saw a couple leave the restaurant due to this obnoxious group. All we wanted to do was finish our meal and leave. We should have left after the manager’s response, but had our meal served within minutes. We did speak with the owner upon leaving, who also said he was in a tough spot on approaching the large party. We are local residents who have enjoyed dining at Oro, but will think twice about returning. Not understanding why our dining experience was not valued? There are other nice dining options in the area, so it’s a shame that situation could have been handled differently to let others enjoy their night out. Very dissapointed.

The service, food and ambiance is great. While it can seem lively depending on where you’re sitting, Oro always delivers a delicious dinner! They were quickly able to «pull something together» to seat our party of six even without reservations which was appreciated since we were hungry! We proceeded to sample cocktails(both the ginger and the strawberry one were delicious) and share appetizers(YUM! Misto del Mar). I had the salmon which was creative and delightful! We finished by splitting the cookie sandwich which they thoughtfully cut into six rather than the usual four… it’s the little things that make a place succeed! All in all, if you’re down on the wharf in Scituate you should definitely hit up Oro!

Every time I visit Oro, I think to myself, «Why don’t I come here more often?» The family and I visited for Sunday Brunch this past weekend, and everything was A-OK. Service was gracious, atmosphere was lovely, and the food was top-drawer. My one regret is that I didn’t share one of the large entrees with one of my family members so that I could’ve had room for the luscious desserts that they serve. I really do love this place.

Great food! As a chef i am more than delighted with the menu. Its one of those menus that are difficult to choose from. We love the corn & clam chowder. Its unlike anything you have ever had. Its so incredibly good. You can get the ‘typical” New England clam chowder anywhere but this one is a one of a kind version. a real treat! I have never had a bad meal here. I am always very happy with our experience. There is strong creative culinary talent in this kitchen. We frequent here often. I like the location right in Scituate harbor.

I’ll start with the positives: Strong well made drinks, charcuterie plate was delicious. Next, the not so awesome: Ambiance was crowded and LOUD. Corn chowder was not seasoned at all. Now the bummers: local caught striped bass was priced the same as if it was shipped to California, the rice/risotto was a combination of hot/cold + over/under cooked. The chef sat in the window all night talking to patrons while his food went out unseasoned and undercooked. To top off our time at Oro, the waitress felt the need to make sure and let us know what to tip her on after our gift card had been subtracted. Tacky.

Easily the best or second best dining option in all of the south shore. Inspired and elegantly prepared time and again. Ownership is wonderful and there are always fun and exciting new drinks to try as well. Put simply– they own. We’ve eaten here probably over 40x since they’ve opened. It’s everything I’ve dreamed a great restaurant could be and I judge all other MA restaurants against this place. Nobody ever beats them as far as food quality per price point. Order anything and everything…

Great brunch menu with attentive staff and a relaxed atmosphere. The truffle fries and eggs Benedict are both wonderful. Maple donuts are delicious, but tend to change between visits. The Bloody Mary is also exceptional and quite spicy.

I waited a bit to write this because we didn’t get a good impression and I wanted to let the expensive dinner settle and not let the bitter taste infiltrate the review. Having made reservations ahead of time for a birthday, I was a little dismayed that we had to wait outside on a chilly night for over 15 minutes for our table. Then, our server had an extremely odd manner. Sort of loud and a little brash, she also seemed a little rushed. They ran out of water glasses which added another odd question mark to the evening. Some of the food was very good like the corn chowder and other dishes were not very memorable(or sizeable). I realize this is a nice place for dinner(that’s why I picked it), but it can’t seem to decide whether it is upscale fine dining or a more casual and hip bar/restaurant. I’m honestly not sure where exactly the elements went awry, but our dinner just didn’t come together the way I was hoping.

There are many good reviews for Oro here, which makes me wonder how our experience could be so different from other Unilocalers’? My husband and I went to Oro for Sunday brunch and the place was nearly empty. Despite the slow dining room, our waitress was constantly missing in action. I ordered tea and it came in a clever cup that fit neatly into its saucer, but the cup and saucer were filthy. After a long wait our waitress came back with a clean mug for my tea but she forgot the spoon, milk, and sugar I had requested. Another 15 minutes go by without seeing our server so my husband went to the hostess station to ask if someone could please bring us a spoon, milk, and some sugar. My meal was to be a simple cheeseburger, medium well. It came out very rare, so rare in fact that the red juices had completely saturated the bottom of the bun. It was inedible, and again our waitress was nowhere to be found. After some 15– 20 minutes she returned to see how everything was and I showed her my underdone burger asked if she could take it back to the kitchen to be cooked. My husband was finished with his meal by the time my burger came back, and when it finally did arrive there was a splotch of BBQ sauce on it that hadn’t been there before so someone had handled it with other food on their hands. The one saving grace was the fantastic guitarist/singer who was playing that day. He was really good and he’s the only reason I’m not giving Oro a one-star rating. If we were to go back to there someday, it would NOT be for the food or the service; we’d only go back to hear that musician again.
