LOVED this place, I never really ate anything other then the appetizers as it was a night club/bar at night. Open till 4am. I don’t like dancing but love bars and this was the place for both. Pool tables and darts were always fun and I do have to say, JR. was and is still the best bartender EVER. Don’t worry Rob, I didn’t forget about you. lol! GREAT staff! Miss all you guys!

7:00PM, 7−3−12, Dinner. Air conditioning was totally inadequate, the temperature on the west side seating area was easily in high 70’s low 80’s, rest of eating area was just uncomfortable. Food; very mediocre, incredibly tasteless and except for the salt on the rice and re-fried beans you wouldn’t know you were eating either by taste alone. I don’t want to maliciously beat this place up with exaggeration but my guess is they are going out of business. Go to Taco Johns, you’d pay less and it would taste as well and probably better.

Do NOT waste your time here! Went for lunch today, and was met by the waiter(who also worked the front desk) with an attitude. I was traveling with a business partner, and asked for separate checks, which is common when traveling on business. He refused at the table, but I thought it was a joke. When he presented the single bill, I objected and he said it couldn’t be done. Seriously?! To compound matters, the food is abysmal! If you want true, good tasting Mexican food, head West and don’t visit another«Mexican» restaurant until you hit Denver and beyond. It’ll continue to improve all the way to the West Coast! Trust Me!

Been going here for 20 years, love it, décor is getting old, bathrooms are marginal but who cares, the food is great.

This place is not what it used to be! It used to be OK for a late night soirée, but i feel as though its plain unsafe! The last time we went there we walked directly into a HUGE fight! The staff didn’t seem to even take charge. We of course decided to leave & head to the car but the brawl continued to grow into the parking lot and made it impossible to get into the car. When we finally did it was hard to drive through the people to make it out of the lot. I would have to say that I won’t be a returning customer.

I was craving authentic Mexican fare today for lunch(so close to my work), so I found this place online and decided to try it with my mom. The food was mediocre and service was slow. The complimentary chips and salsa were sub-par. The torilla chips were too thick and tasted stale. The salsa was a thin soupy consistency with cilantro and onions. My mom ordered a margarita and it was bad – like made with cheap margarita mix bad. It didn’t taste like they made it by hand at the bar. After about 5 minutes, my mom pointed out to me that although they had a bar, all the lights were turned out, so she should’ve put 2 and 2 together and not ordered a drink, haha. My mom got the lunch special #1, which was a chicken enchilada and chimichanga. The chimichanga was only filled with beans and cheese, so that left much to be desired. Her chicken enchilada was good though. I ordered the two sirloin steak taco entrée. It was good, but really, how can you mess up chopped steak in a corn tortilla? Both our entrees came with refried beans and plain Mexican rice. I found the beans too salty. When I mentioned it to my mom she commented back that she thought EVERYthing was too salty. The décor in there is awesome, that’s why I gave it an extra star. It was decorated really nicely with white lights and the area of the dining room where we sat looked like an outdoor patio with wrought-iron gates. It looked cool. Prices were a little high for the quality of food they had, and I can find great Mexican food for much less elsewhere. I will continue my search for an authentic Mexican lunch close to work.

After 5 days visiting the high-end version of vanilla retail and restaurants that is Schaumberg, I finally found the hole-in-the-wall place that’s honestly full-flavored. Fajitas were a bit understated, but exceptionally well flavored. The mixed drink they call a Siesta is delicious and quite potent. And while it was quite dead late on a Thursday evening, the mildly worn but classic Mexican décor was beautiful, fun, inviting, and fitting the warm smiles of the middle-aged waiters. Wish I would be around to eat here again.

Not the prettiest place to dine, but I was satisfied. Very old décor and really a hole in the wall joint, you won’t find it unless you were looking for it. It is packed away in the corner of a small strip mall. I was with a large party(eight), and the waiter brought out some complimentary appetizers which was super nice. I ordered a combination plate which was plenty of food, but I found it lacked some sauce, or even some salsa. The Margaritas were good. Not really my neighborhood, so I’m not sure I’ll be returning.

Place was pretty decent and open til late. I think we were seated for dinner at 10pm in the burbs and this was one of the few places open! I ordered a combo dish and everything tasted pretty decent except for the chiles rellenos. They were really greasy and oily and I ended up not finishing it. I almost always finish my food! It turns into a disco after 11:30pm for dancing!

i would like to give this more stars because i really enjoyed my fajitas, and my mom and i had a very nice dinner together. but even before we left we knew we would never going back there, so to me that means they don’t deserve more than 2– 2 ½ stars. like i said, fajitas = great, but everything else(sangria, salsa, my mom’s enchiladas) = just ok. the salsa was kinda like tomato paste with a couple onion chunks floating around. the décor was adorable, but i would have liked it to be a bit livelier. it was quiet, but not in a relaxing sort of way but rather in the way of someplace that’s been abandoned. there was hardly anyone in there and my mom and i are used to going to fuego which is a totally different atmosphere. my biggest complaint was the service. the bus boy was hovering a little too much and never once cracked a smile, even when i smiled at him and said thank you as we were leaving. and our server started a bit of an argument with me at the end of the meal. we chose that restaurant specifically because it is on my chicago public radio membercard for 2-for-1 deals. specifically. he took my card with the bill, then came back saying he couldn’t take it, they only take the blue entertainment cards. i informed him that their restaurant is not only listed in the booklet that came with my membercard, but that they have a public radio sticker on the door to the restaurant! he still tried to tell me they didn’t take it and i repeated that, «it’s on your door.» he walked away again then came back in a huff because he didn’t know how to do it. i told him there was a number for them on the back of the card and he said he didn’t know what it was and ran off again while i was mid-sentence telling him that the booklet was in my car, which i would have been happy to get to show him the listing and the number. in the end, he gave us the discount, but did not mark anything on my card. which means i could use the discount there again if i wanted to. too bad i don’t.

I used to love going here on Monday nights with my friends. It’s tucked in a very unassuming strip mall real close to the 53 in Schaumburg. This place was like our Bamboo Lounge and we were treated very well, probably because we knew the manager, Ramón, who’d always greet us in the most amiable manner. But I do believe the service is top notch otherwise. I love the appetizers and they can be filling on their own. The chicken enchiladas are super tasty but the veggie fajitas are the way to go. After your meal, order some dessert, especially if you like flan. There’s even some dancing on the weekends too, if that’s your thing. I hope this place hasn’t changed.

I’ve been going to this place for the better part of my life(I’m 28). I don’t go as much as I used to because I live in the city. But whenever I get the chance, I don’t pass up the opportunity. The staff is very attentive, prices are reasonable, and they make an amazing enchilada. If you are ever in the area and are craving Mexican food, this is the place for you.
