Too bad this place is closed. Phil always served great dogs and is a friendly customer focused guy. I hope if he reads this he knows he ran a good business.

I enjoy this place! Been coming here for many years. Good hot dogs(I like them with a quick kiss on the grill and mustard only) … Fresh cut fries… and a large Diet Coke. Sitting outside makes it just a little bit better!

Last time I ate here was 2003 when i lived in the area and it’s just as good as I remember. Service is just as friendly as always, inviting and good sized eating area. I had the 2 dog special with everything for $ 6.30 and my boyfriend had the Saturday chili cheese dog special(got it upgraded to a double). Not as much chili as I was hoping to be put on the double, but he was very happy. Oh, did I mention the fries? So good. Worth the drive from Elgin.

If you’re from Chicago you know that it’s not about what the place looks like on the outside as much as who is making the food and how good it tastes once you get inside that counts. Sure the outside looks like it was glued together using pieces from 6 buildings, but the Maxwell and the Chili Cheese Dog were awesome. Also the hand cut fries came in a portion that were sure to fill up whatever space was left from the entrée. I would highly recommend this place if you have a taste for a good Chicago style dog or going to Maxwell street for a polish is too far.

Skip this one and go to Portillos or Photo dogs. I had the double polish sausage + chili and my friend had the brat w/fries. It was about $ 15-$ 16(good prices). The service was fast. The décor needs to be gutted and re-done due to tape on the windows, old tube tv on the wall, aged booths, and tired plastic plants. Where’s «restaurant impossible» when you need them. The food tastes as if it was all pre-packaged microwaved goods. The polish had no «snap» in crispness. It was boiled… eww! The bun was not toasted or even grilled. Overall mushy and had no flavor. They could have called it an extra plump hot dog and no one would know the difference. The chili was definitely out of a can. Oily like hormel brand chili. My friend liked his brat, but he said it was no portillos. The fries were very good and made to order. They were out of a bag though. But had a fresh flavor(I tried the fries). I never understand why restaurants use pre– packed goods. Folks go out to eat to get something freshly made. You never hear anyone say…“oh boy I’m craving a hot pocket and goldfish crackers.“ Overall…I wouldn’t go back. But glad I tried them because I pass this place daily and always wondered. I predict this one closing in 2015. There is just too much competition on the hot dog/Italian beef market here in Chicagoland.

Sorry about the positive review. I mentioned it and how I appreciated having the place in town and got a 5 minute unpunctuated speech about how long hes been there and how he didnt care about or need the review… like I was asking for a break on the 3 dollar meal. Dont need me, I dont need him. Still a great place, I will miss it.

I’ve been a patron for over 20 years. They always served a Vienna type hot dog. We called them«snappy dogs». They changed to a different type of hot dog that just isn’t worth the money they charge. The entrance looks like a law suit waiting to happen. The interior is in such bad shape it’s nasty looking — it’s sad they’ve neglected upkeep. As a previous review stated, dumpy. Although I was disappointed with our lunch, I’m glad we went. When they close I won’t be shocked.

Pretty darn good chicago Dog. The ambient was a little dated but what can you expect. A classic no frils hot dog stand. Classic Chicago Suburbia. The pizza puff was fun too!

As good as Portillos dogs. And the best authentic cut fries. Tamales are bomb as well

The outside looks just like you would think a hot dog stand would look like from the 70s. But don’t let that hold you back. The food tastes good and it comes at just the right price. For under $ 5 you get a hot dog with all the fixings and fries. The fries address actually cut in house so they’re never frozen and they keep the skins on which I like. Its definitely a great place to go for a quick bite.

I lived across the street from this place for 4 years and never tried until this Saturday. I ordered their hot dog and fries. The place seems a bit old and more of a quick express food joint. The hot dog and fries were good and pretty cheap. I will go back here if I want a hot dog, i like places like these.

Sometimes I want to like a place more than I actually do. I drive by Frankly Yours on my way to 290 a few times a week, and after several months of this, I finally stopped a few days ago. The food is not bad, but not standout in any way, and perhaps a tad overpriced. I can get the same kind of stuff at a few places closer to home that are less expensive. The building itself walks the line between divey and dumpy, and probably leans more to the dumpy side. That said, the service was very friendly, and the fries were pretty good. I’ll probably stop a few more times to try more of the menu, but based on the double cheeseburger I had, I don’t expect more than just decent. We’ll see. Definitely worth stopping for something if you’re in the mood for the burger/beef/dog stuff, but perhaps not worth going out of your way for.

I moved my business to Schaumburg about 2 months ago, I have driven by this place a bunch of times. Went in for a hot dog and was very happy with the food and the price. The food was ready in about five minutes & it was delicious. The Dog was grilled It was full of flavor & juicy. The fries were good as well. Overall the place had good food at a hood price, the restaurant was clean & the people were nice. I will eat here again for sure.

This was my first time here. There were a lot of people in the place and outside eating and about four or five individuals waiting for food. I stood where it said, «Order Here» for about five minutes while one person was cooking/serving up orders, one person was pouring frozen fries into the deep fryer and the other was doing nothing. All three saw me standing there waiting to order, yet none of them took my order. I finally asked in my loud voice«if someone was going to take my order?» I know all three heard me, yet still no order was taken. Two guys walked in behind me and asked if I was waiting to order? I replied(again in my loud voice), «Yes I’ve been waiting to order for about six or seven minutes now, but apparently they don’t speak my language here, so you’re welcome to go ahead of me because I’m heading for the door!» Then I left. I’m sure I didn’t miss anything here. It’s a Hot Dog place and Hot Dog places are a dime a dozen in Chicagoland!

I’ve been to a lot of hole-in-the-wall hot dog places around the city and suburbs, and generally enjoy them. I was going to Hong Kong Café across the street but was sad to find that they are closed on Monday, so I headed across the street to Frankly Yours. The restaurant is dirty, even the cup they gave my two-year-old for water was dirty. The hot dogs were fine, but nothing special. My bratwurst was about the same, no better than what I might make at home in the microwave. The fries had a funny taste to them. Half of their sodas were out of order as well(Coke, Coke Zero, Sprite, and Orange were all that was available). The food was edible and I was able to eat enough to feel satisfied. Still, I would not return here even if I worked or lived very nearby. There are too many other better places of this sort within a 5 minute drive.

I haven’t been here in years & was in the area so I decided to come here for lunch the other day. I was going to get a hot dog & fries but they had a lunch special which was a cheese burger with fries & a drink for about six dollars. The people behind the counter were pretty nice. The restaurant was nice & warm which was good because it was very cold outside. The food was ready in about five minutes & it was delicious. It was exactly what a cheese burger ahould have been. It was not too greasy but full of flavor & juicy. The fries were good as well. Overall the place had good food at a hood price, the restaurant was clean & the people were nice. I would eat here again if I was in the area.

We thought the people here were really friendly and provided good and positive service. However, every table was dirty when we got there at about 1:00 on a Saturday. It wasn’t very busy. We had to wipe off our own table and then it was just for crumbs– there was a lot that was still sticky left on the table. I was very excited to see they actually had a hotdog/pizza puff combo! That’s exactly what I order at every hotdog place but I have NEVER seen a combo! That made me really happy. It was $ 6.35 and came with a large drink and fries. Great prices. I didn’t like the fries(I’m not into those fresh cut-type fries) but it was funny because three times during our meal my husband remarked«I actually really like these fries», I guess without realizing he had already said that out loud. :) He must have really liked them! The onion rings were pretty good. My pizza puff was OK– it tasted different than ones at other places– not sure why. My hot dog was pretty good but wouldn’t rank as one of the best ones I’ve had. My husband had a brat and didn’t like it(good thing he ordered those fries!!!) :) Overall this place looks like a place people would frequent a lot if they knew the owners and if they grew up going there– otherwise it doesn’t appear to be very well-maintained. We did appreciate the friendly service and hope they continue to do good business. Oh– and I also really liked the font on their menu boards– not your typical font– kind of cute and quirky. :)

«Hey look! Chicago-style dogs and brats! Ooh… mustard, relish. Wow! That’s a huge pickle. *munch munch* This is pretty good. -«Um, Taric? We’re…kind of in Chicago.» «Oh yeah. Still freaking great though – better than what we get around home». $ 5 meals. Lots of options. So basically it’s cheaper and tastier than the surrounding fast food options. Yes, the seats are small. Yes, it’s cozy. If you’re not a fatty then you’ll have enough space to enjoy these quick bites. Toppings like mustard/pickles that I’d usually hate just *work* here. Quite frankly(tee-hee), this should be a regular in your lunch rotation.

True story: I had a high school teacher who blamed his first bypass surgery on Frankly yours. This place is better than just decent. Great hot dogs, not the best in the world, but really good. Cheap food, good atmosphere, quick service. Good to go.
