Scarsdale Shell Service Station

I have used them for years and years they are very nice, they will wash your windows, check your tires, and I have had my car inspections done there on numerous occasions and still do. I have my car maintained by my car company service department and I have never had Shell replace so much as a windshield wiper. I would highly recommend them and trust them.

I’ve been coming here for over 4 years for gas, inspection & service on 2 cars. Before today, I would’ve given them 4 stars. Now I’m convinced they are ripoff artists. For gas or to pull a nail from a tire, its OK. Don’t come here for service or inspections!
Last week, I made a morning appt to bring my car in for inspection. Upon arrival, they told me they were backed up from day before & couldn’t do it. Was told to bring it back the next day, which I did. After having it for an hour, the manager/​owner told me that my front brake pad was low & both front pads should be changed at cost of $ 250. Was told they would NOT pass the car without it. I didn’t have time for it & vaguely recalled having pads changed a few years ago so I told them not to do anything & left.
I brought my car back today, with a receipt I’d found showing all 4 pads were changed BY THEM only 2 years ago & I only put on 4k miles since then. They took 2 hours! to look at it and took it for a test drive (why?). And then told me that the pads are not only fine but in good shape & they don’t know what happened. The manager/​owner said «I don’t know what the mechanic saw last week». He didn’t offer any apology or say he would look into it or discipline the mechanic. He was very nonchalant about it. I’m convinced they were trying to scam $$ out of me. I will NEVER come back here again for ANYTHING. They are very unethical. I think that since they are located in Scarsdale, they probably think all their customers are rich and don’t care about paying for phantom car problems to be fixed. Be warned!

I have driven up from Manhattan for several years to have my car serviced by Dave, and his assistants, at Scarsdale Shell. They know what they are doing, do a thorough job at everything, and are totally honest about everything they do. There are few other car mechanics in this category. It is worth the drive to be serviced by the best. Thank you, Dave!

I give a zero if possible. Brought my car in for an inspection and was it would not pass without changing the brake pads. This would cost $ 225 to do there. I said now and took the car home. I purchased some brake pads from autozone just in case. I took the wheel off and the brake pads still have a quarter inch left! The car is only two years old and 10,000 miles! I decided to not replace the brakes but took the car to another gas station. I didn’t say a word about this gas station’s findings to see if the brakes are in fact bad. The car passed the inspection with no problems. This gas station should have they’re ability of doing car inspections revoked. This place tries to take advantage of people. Do not get your car serviced here. However, I’ve never had problems filling up.

We too have been going here for years, for both gas and maintenance. They are the nicest and most experienced bunch of fellows, and have always gone the extra mile for us at a more than fair price.
I also am shocked that one bad experience by a regular customer (she must have been happy before then to have gone for years) would merit such a poor rating.

If I could give Zero I would. I have been buying gas from them for a while (because they have been less expensive). Tonight I went there for my weekly fill up. The guy took my credit card and was pumping the gas. He was spending more time talking to me than paying attention to the pump. the pump shut off. He told me that it was because of my card. My credit card company shut it off. He then tried to charge me again and and again and he told me that my credit card company declined my sale because I was over my limit. I was not happy when he said that to me. I called my credit card company on the car phone and they told the service station that they did not decline my credit card and that credit is fine. Then I went and tried another pump and it said to pay inside-​not that my card was declined. When I questioned this I was to give them another credit card to use. I wanted to use this card. When I asked them about the message on the pump the guy told me that I need to tell him an amount. I told him I anted it filled up. He said I needed to tell him a dollar amount. I said to use whatever amount he was using outside. He said that they would not take my credit because it was bad. I asked did they charge my credit card for any amount. They said no. I asked the guy for his name and again said so you did not charge my credit card at all and there is no receipt. He said that was correct. I told him I was the credit card company to make sure an authorization are placed in dispute. I then left and went to the gas station next door. A minute later another guy comes running over with my receipt (not one from the pump) for $ 14.59. I finished buying my gas and paid with it credit card It totaled $ 42.79. (it was the same price) and none of the garbage. I subsequently found out that when the guy rescans a card a couple of times at the pump it automatically locks the card out for a period of time so that people don t make multiple purchases with a stole credit card-​this is something that the gas station sets up not the credit card company. My car holds 15 gallons of gas and it had approximately 4 gallons of gas in it. The amount of money that I was charged totaled more gas than fits in my car and the receipt I was given looked like something out of an adding machine. I personally think that they are running some kind of scam because they were not busy tonight and usually they are. all I saying is careful and be aware.
