Highly highly recommend. Great menu and product. Attention to ingredients and the décor is super cool. The service couldn’t be better. Kudos to management for attracting talent like Kate. Smile from ear to ear. Obviously loves what she does.

What can I say… WOW breakfast lunch and dinner nothing beats this place. The brisket… Cuban. and the burgers are top notch… the breakfast is in the same class as Maureen’s Kitchen.

I went for the second time today with my wife. First let me say the place is so cool inside and the staff is super friendly. They were busy when we went. The only have seven table up front with two servers handling those tables. Our server was very nice but not a hustler. We waited 25 minutes for a burger and sandwich. The food was only warm which means it was sitting there which means the server was sleeping. Seven tables for two servers!!! Come on guys, you gotta crack the whip. That’s 3−½ tables per server. That’s a very very low table ratio. The table next to us ordered an appetizer. They forgot all about. The customer was very nice about. The other table next to us had their desert order messed up. Seven tables guys!!! Luckily the food is great, unique and the place is so cool and the staff is super nice otherwise I would never go back.

Best burger I can remember. There needs to be more places like this. They cut everything in house and cook to perfection. Come for the burger stay for the beer.

Outstanding quality! Well appointed w/attentive staff. Ordered an off the menu special Veal Chop dish. Nearly every waiter stopped by to ask how we liked it. Then the chef stopped over to describe how he prepared it. I could tell that he thoroughly cared about his culinary work of art! A tad pricey for specials, but take into account that they are serving prime cuts with dedicated personal attention to every dish!

Was looking for a new place for brunch and found Off the Block on Unilocal; I was a little leery when I read it was a butcher shop/restaurant. We decided to give it a try; boy I’m so glad we did! Their food is delicious; the lemon, blueberry pancakes are to die for! My BF had the Western Omelette also delicious. Coffee was good and I tried the passion Bellini which was served with fresh mint. The staff was great and the environment was clean and cozy! Highly recommend!

Very Clean place to bring your family to east and have a cold beer or a nice glass of wine. I loved the smell of this restaurant as soon as I walked in. I like the way the have their food come out… Very fancy and they are very polite. I wish this new Kitchen the Best. I will come back. I really love places like this. Very cool design inside. Please dim the light at night it is very cozy in there.

Since Off the block is new I like to give them the benefit of the doubt, it’s three stars for now and I’ll return in a month or two. Starting with the name and the building, I like it. Weather it’s a play on being just outside of Sayville or if it’s purely just off the butchers block, it’s a good name. The place is small with a fittingly small parking lot. The inside is clean; Brick and reclaimed wood. The service… Not good. 7 tables is too many for one girl I guess; I never got a refill on my water, drank my girlfriends and still never offered a refill, or another iced tea once she was done with that. The menu is a good one, but what they decide to charge is odd. 2 bux extra for macaroni or potato salad but they don’t say that when offering it, you should refer back to the menu I guess. The place is a hipster butcher but when I went they didn’t have anything different than your average butcher. I was hoping the menu would have gator sausage, venison, rabbit, anything just a little different. We had a party of three and ordered a Reuben, a rotisserie chicken sandwich and a burger. The fries were good, the potato salad was good, chicken sandwich good, pastreuben — good. At $ 13 for a corned beef and pastrami on rye, I need it to blow me away, there was a nice cheesiness to the sandwich I greatly enjoyed as well as the addition of pickle, but for $ 10 I could go to cookys deli and get a mountain of meat. So it’s a toss up how I really feel I guess. The meat was very scarce and a bit dry due to I suppose cooking it on the flat top too long, you couldn’t actually chew through it without it all coming out of the sandwich and dangling from your lip like a fish hook. All jokes aside, you want that shit juicy and succulent. It lacked that saltiness and packed you full of rye bread. The burger was overcooked but still not bad. The duck buns were a good portion size but again, you are certainly paying for it $$ and they lacked texture, simply putting a bit more pickled carrot or adding some cilantro would go a long way in completing this dish. This wasn’t as uniform and concise of a review because I’m not exactly sure how I feel about this place yet. Lunch shouldn’t cost 3 people 70 bux after tip, especially with such lacking service… Turns out they are indeed hiring help, I know a girl starting there within the next couple days and I’d definitely like to go visit her and get some… Meat.

This new eatery is sooooo good. The menu is new and«edgy». It is also a butcher, and so much more. They have cooked rotisserie chickens and prepared foods. They have prime, aged steaks. You can buy the steaks raw, or they will cook them for you too. The owner is a Sayville HS/CIA graduate and has an impressive resume. He obviously knows his way around a kitchen. The prices are not cheap, but the food was delicious. I will be going back. P. S. Make sure you try the Duck Buns, yummy! 1÷26÷2016 Went back again, this time tried the Steak Au Poive. This sandwich is over the top delicious. Make sure you try this too.

I started following Off the Block on Instagram a few weeks ago and their photos kept tempting me check them out ASAP. Mission accomplished — Today I went for a delicious lunch. Their dining area is somewhat small so we waited a little while for a table. It gave us a chance to browse and see what they had to offer. It’s half restaurant, half butcher shop. The décor is nice and well done. Once we were seated it still took us some time to decide on what we wanted since there are so many good options. We ended up getting the brussel sprouts, BLT with fries & the brisket sandwich with macaroni salad. Everything came out quickly and was delicious! Our bill came out to $ 42, which I think was reasonable considering how good & fresh the meal was. I could get the same thing at a most diners for less, but I doubt I’d be impressed(no offense to diners). My husband was looking forward to trying the duck buns, but they were all out. Gives us a good excuse to go back!

Lets start with he good… young staff was attentive and friendly, order taken promptly. Menu has errors in typing as well as bad presentation of menu, breads differ from descriptions for example«grain mustard hero» is grain mustard on a hero etc etc… But staff was able to clarify, answer and explain. Beverages: Run of the mill and do not match the establishment, vitamin water, coca cola products, zico, is this a deli? Not gourmet. Beer selection was lame and again does not match the interior or stated concept, besides who wants a summer blood orange beer in winter, what about craft? Local run of the mill beers, usual generic stella, Heineken etc. If I go somewhere and spend $ 33 for wings and a sandwich at least have to courtesy to serve me water in a glass not a cheap plastic cup. My local towny pubs at least do that. Ambiance, freezing cold, every time the door opens an arctic chill blows through along the counter. Food: I started with wings, wings were of good quality and were crisp and well sauced, however, sauce was not as described. Wings are not hot but moderate, very tasty, however do not have even a hint of chilies nor espresso. Basically a solid moderate wing sauce with copious amounts of butcher cut black pepper which is where all the flavor came from. Cubano: Literally the worst most flavorless example of this classic I have ever eaten anywhere, period end of sentence! I can name at least two bodegas in the area that serve a much much better example of this sandwich for a third of the price. Not one aspect of the sandwich was pleasant, it was executed well by the cook, it is just that the component parts were lacking in seasoning and flavor. Kudos for house cut fries and although tasty were mishandled somewhere along the way, instead of fries they were crispy potato pieces that necessitated careful forking, all little pieces overcooked but tasty. Just not what I want and especially for the price. Other menu items I considered like the brussel sprouts I watched being cooked in a fryer obliterating the flavors, looked burnt not crispy should be sauteed. Meat counter: meats looked so so not attractively portrayed, they need to learn to how to do a display case, again expensive, not particularly well cut meats by comparison to other area butchers. I really do not know what others are raving about unless they are merely friends and family or others with desensitized palates from eating much of the mediocre food that sadly permeates our area, had high hopes left feeling ripped off and badly fed. Maybe they will take criticism as constructive and improve upon things. Tip: they are only doing breakfast on Sundays not during the week at this time, I was informed.

Every carnivore’s dream has arrived in Sayville! After many, many months of anxiously awaiting for the«new place» to open it’s finally here! A snazzy looking building on a prime corner location draws you in by the name alone and once you’re inside you won’t want to leave! I stopped by Off the Block on a recent weekday evening and was shocked that not only was the parking lot full but people were parking in the street! Don’t let it intimidate you because once inside things moved along smoothly. The first you’ll thing you notice as you walk in is that this isn’t your A&P butcher counter. These guys mean business with everything from dry aged beef and every cut of roast you could imagine to rabbit and house made sausage. They’ve tied the butcher counter in with small crates of organic root vegetables and fruits as well as sauces and marinades and a cold case that’s rockin’ everything from local beers by the bottle to Amish Country Farms milk. Milk from a butcher you say? Trust me, once you go Amish you’ll never go back… You might only stop by for your dinner ingredients but once you catch a whiff of what they’re cooking you’re sure to stay. I nearly ordered half the menu but settled for a sandwich. The brisket sandwich was fall apart perfectness on a pillowy bun with pickled vegetables. Don’t miss it!

Everything was great! From the service and décor to the amazing food. Five stars! Definitely will be back. Very Excited to have a new, quality place open up in Sayville! Rotisserie chicken sandwich was awesome and my husband loved the all american burger. Fries were excellent and I don’t eat fries unless they are really good.

Went here with my girlfriend – six days into grand opening. Has a franchise feel to it. Professionally done. Heavily backed financially. I can’t complain. The food was good. Great atmosphere. Professional staff. Good prices. They have heirloom carrots and farm eggs. I like that it is a stand alone structure just outside town in a quiet area. Sayville needed a place like this. They should do very well.

Let’s start off with this– Off the block is off the hook! Took home an organic rotisserie chicken that was one of the best tasting chickens I have ever had. It was moist and juicy and cooked to perfection. Grabbed a white sweet potato and some tri-colored carrots to make a great meal complete! So, hubbster was so eager to try this Place out(we have watched the construction and couldn’t wait to get inside!!) so we headed over for lunch the next day. Had an order of Brussel sprouts with green apples and applewood bacon that is coated in some delicious dressing. Please, don’t miss this dish! It’s worth every bite. I ordered the veggie burger that was served on a brioche bun along with a shmear of pesto on both the top and the bottom of the roll. Lettuce and tomato are served on the sandwich and add a nice touch to a really good veggie burger that is clearly not your store bought frozen crap. It’s fresh, and moist and loaded with flavor. A bucket of fries are served on the side, and if you read any of my other reviews, you would know that I am NOT a fry kinda gal. I might be chubby, but not from French fries. Here’s where that changes for me. The fries were so so good– like, so good I ate a whole bunch of them! Hubbster had steak tidbits in a gravy thingy. I can’t really give a detailed account of what it was because it was gone before I even got to inquire. The man was quiet during the meal, and very content after the meal, so that tells ya something! I ordered my rib roast for Christmas Dinner, and I can’t wait to dig in! The butcher shop has amazing cuts of Meat, and top quality offerings. Their lamb lollipops looked so good as did all of their aged prime beef. Make it a point to mosey on down to Off the block. From the minute you walk in the door you are greeted by some of the nicest people who only add to the great experience at our new favorite«go to».

So happy this place is finally open! Great cuts to take home and cook yourself or have done by the chef and great food to order and sit down with. The wings were out of this world. We also got the pulled pork sandwich and the rotisserie chicken sandwich and both were amazing. Kitchen staff and servers were friendly and helpful as well! Can’t wait to head back and try out the other dishes!
