Don’t order the chicken sandwich. Dried out and tough as nails. Only order the French fries the sliced deep fried potatoes are terrible. Waitress spilled water on the table and never wiped it up. Friendly staff.

I only give this place two stars because the food is decent. The service was horrible; our server said maybe two words the entire time. Customer service was the worst I have received. I am and have been a server for over three years. Our server sent other people to check on us maybe two out of the three times we were checked on. Spanky’s was not busy in the slightest, our server was just lazy and simply did not think we were an important table to serve.

A spontaneous stop on our outing to Savannah. Must say that it was very satisfying! Great food(chicken fingers are simply amazing… the potato spuds too!), friendly staff, comfortable atmosphere, and great prices. Highly recommend this casual dinning site!

Upon entering it was very Dull, Dim, Like you’d expect a bar to be. Which we kind of gathered as we wntered’It was fairly nice, I Ordered ‘Cherry Coke’ And for some reason have no idea what i expected when a glass of coke with three cherries on top appeared on the table, The chicken fingers are amazing, We’ll definately be returning. our waitress was very nice, It was about 1PM when we went, So they where just starting out. Great music Choices, Heard at least 10 songs i recognised off the bat;Would reccomend to anyone looking for good food or a good time.

The food and service was outstanding. We had to wait for a table for about half an hour, but it was worth the wait. Even though they were pretty busy, our server never missed a beat! She came over to check on us and made sure we had everything we needed at the right time. The prices weren’t bad at all and there was a bit of everything for everyone on the menu. The only hiccup they had was that the kitchen forgot my order as well as my daughter’s. Our server took care of that as everyone was getting their plates, so we only waited an extra 5 – 10 minutes for our food. Kudos to her for being attentive and observant of what was flying out of the kitchen to our table! Oh, and if you go there, get the potatoes-it’s a local favorite!

Came here late on a Friday night with 9 other girls. This place was dead and it took them about 7 minutes just to put tables together for our large party. It was about 8:30 pm and we were all hangry(hungry and angry) at this point. We ordered quickly and it took about 30 mins for our food to come out. Everything was pretty good. There was nothing spectacular but it was average. This would be a great place to come if you’re drunk or have a hangover. I wouldn’t make this my top restaurant in Savannah since they have so many better ones. It was just average(and cheap for Savannah).

Fun bartender at a mediocre bar. We stopped in for a warm drink on a cold day as we walked down River Street. What would have been a «to go cup» stop turned into a nice conversation with a funny and entertaining bartender. We had a few free samples and good conversation. Thank you for introducing us to the Shock Top pretzel. These 2 Orlando girls have found a new love. Sorry we didn’t make it back on our way out of town but we got stoped by the MLK day parade. This will be our go to stop when on River Street in Savannah.

Saw all the reviews regarding the«world famous» chicken tenders, so thought I would try them. Personally I found them to be just average. Basket of 5 is plenty for one person, the 8 basket will feed two. Service was also average, and the restaurant was empty. Overall two star(at best)

My husband and I were the first people here this morning. Yet it took 14 minutes for us to be greeted. Another 7 minutes to get a drink. The waiter commented about her cell phone ringing in her pocket then walked away. We received our food 20 minutes later. Our buffalo chicken was cold. The chicken fingers tasted like they ran it under water then fried it. It was tasteless. The potato slices would have been good if they were hot. We were excited to try the«original chicken finger» but we’re walking away very unsatisfied.

Wish I would’ve read reviews before dining here. The best thing about the restaurant is the location. It’s conveniently located along the river walk and if you work up an appetite you can find something on the menu. Over priced for quality of food served. Server was excellent and friendly. The place is clean.

I visited this establishment this past weekend on my birthday. A couple of friends and myself stopped in because we were interested in trying the«home of the original chicken finger». To begin with we ordered the nachos and hot bread and cheese as appetizers. The nachos were barely sprinkled with cheese, and the salsa was salsa you could buy at the store. I expected the hot bread and cheese to be… hot. Yet it was room temperature at best. I was sadly disappointed. My friend ordered the chicken fingers, I ordered a pizza, and another friend ordered the burger. While the chicken fingers weren’t too bad, they were nothing at all to praise. The pizza was some of the worst I have ever eaten. The service wasn’t even mediocre, and the cleanliness of the bathroom was an F, at best. All in all, if you’re looking for a place to eat, I suggest you walk right past Spankys, unless you’re into being disappointed. Or just eat some bread off the ground right outside the establishment along with the pigeons. It would be about the same thing.

Walked in at 10:48 on a Saturday night. Two girls on their phones with their backs to us at the hostess stand. One facing us. No eye contact. Finally acknowledged our presence, asked if we were going to want a table. We said yes. She said go inside someone else would show up. We walked inside. Another surly girl walked up. Asked if we were going to want to eat. We said yes. She said they stop serving at 11. She might as well have said, turn the eff around we have no interest in serving you. Way to go Spankys, you sure served your hospitality town proud.

I expected the food to be decent since Spanky’s is located ON the river. I ordered the nachos as an appetizer, I received plain nachos with a tad bit of cheese on maybe 4 of them and the rest plain with no other toppings.(I’m not exaggerating I will post a picture of the nachos I received) I ordered a pizza for my meal. I assumed the pizza would be pretty good considering it’s called Spanky’s PIZZA saloon. It tasted like Digornio’s frozen pizza. Actually, worse than Digornio’s. It was terrible. I will NEVER go back there and wouldn’t recommend that place to anyone. It’s an embarrassment to Savannah and I’m not sure how they’re still in business serving such horrible food.

Amen! Spanky’s is back! I told you I would definitely go back again and we had a wonderful meal. Thank you Madison and Olivia for great service. My daughter and I truly enjoyed our dinner. I had a pizza with a local IPA. The pizza was tremendous. It was late but I stayed a little past closing time and not once did I feel pressure to leave. Great experience and great time at Spanky’s.

We stopped off here for a quick bite and ordered personal pizzas as we were about to leave on a tour of the city. The tour company gave us a $ 5 coupon for here and you must order $ 25 in order to use it. Madison was our waitress, yum, and she was quick and friendly with her service. She was a little bobble headed this day but she was very polite and was able to get us in and out in less than 30 minutes. It wasn’t too packed but she was attentive to our needs. The pizza was good for the price. One was sausage and mushrooms and the other was pepperoni. The small personal pizzas are deep dish/pan type pizzas only. I would give them a chance at some of the other food on the menu. It all looked pretty typical bar type food, wings, burgers, wraps, etc.

It’s a college bar with chicken fingers and pizza. Servers that are order takers and nothing more. And you know how you can tell a lot about a restaurant by the cleanliness of the restrooms? F+ at best. Skip it and find another place to eat and drink.

Wow!!! What a great experience we had. The best server I think I’ve ever had and the food was amazing. They are not kidding when they said they had the best chicken fingers. We went at a non lunch time and it was during the week so we got sat right away.

I was looking for some good fried food! And this place invented the chicken finger. So I had to try it. Amazing! Delicious! It’s well priced and not too expensive. Can’t beat $ 9 for four chicken finger and delicious spuds. Cheryl at the bar served me and she is a sweet gal. Would definitely come back again!

I probably wouldn’t normally review a place like this, but it’s gotten sort of a bad rap on Unilocal so here’s my two cents. Savannah as a whole has an awesome food scene. River street… not so much. I’m not saying that you can’t get a decent meal on this strip of businesses but it’s a mixed bag. Most people risk life and limb walking down the sketchy river street stairs for the drinks, not to eat. If you’ve had one or two too many drinks walking around River St. and you need some gut-busting fried food to bring you back to neutral, there are few better options than Spanky’s. It’s consistent and fairly priced. You can get a plate of delicious, juicy white chicken tenders with a side for like $ 8.25. The tenders are awesome, and 5 will satisfy the hungriest of drunks. They toss them in sauce for an extra buck. Do yourself(not your waistline) a favor and get the spuds instead of fries. They are battered house made chips, and they are phenomenal with a cold beer. Speaking of which, the beer prices are pretty reasonable. Local beers are on tap for about $ 5 a pint, or domestics will run you 3 and change. They make rum buckets to-go for $ 9.99, which taste like candy and will give you a pounding hangover, so go easy on those. If you are looking for a truly great dining experience, I’d look farther away from the raucousness of River Street but if you want to catch a quick bite and get back in the game: saddle up.

Just visiting Savannah for St Patty’s Day and needed some food. We got on a list for a 20 minute wait and then were seated. The fan above us was on high and freezing, we requested it be turned down twice to no avail. My chili was room temperature and they forgot the cheese. The waitress took forever, was not helpful and we had to get up to get honey mustard and ask for our check. I highly doubt we will visit here again.
