A group of us ended up here through Unilocal. We were a little apprehensive because you walk into a Midwest bar vs a restaurant. We decided to try out and are glad we did. They have micro brew on tap and ended up taking a growler of ale home. The service was speedy and friendly even with all the NFL games on. The specialty pizzas were all wonderful. We each ordered a 12″ of a different flavor and split amongst us. Get little micro brew pizza stop.

Stopped by the get refreshed after spending the afternoon on Mirror Lake. We ordered the taco pizza and spinach artichoke chicken pizza. They were awesome and the service was top notched too. They also have a great tap line of craft beers. Will be visiting this place again.

great beer, cool atmosphere… the pizzas and chips are a little pricey for what they are, and the last pizza we got was pretty bad. our bartender had a bit of a careless attitude as well. I don’t know, it was kind of a let down– we used to get excited about going here.

Love love love it. The feel is warm and inviting. Love the new décor. They have a large variety of beers that they brew. The homemade pizzas are delicious and reasonably priced. If you are looking for a nice place to dine and have a drink this would be a great choice.

We ended up here after realizing the other pizzeria in town was closed on Mondays. Overall atmosphere is good and they had a decent amount of beers on tap. We ordered the bacon cheeseburger pizza, which is a favorite of the locals. Although the pizza was pre-made and later frozen it was pretty good. The toppings really did taste true to the bacon cheeseburger flavor, but the crust fell short as it was more like the frozen pizzas from the freezer section at the grocery store.

Outstanding pizza. Great beer. Small place but lots of character. Sauk needed this. Rumors are they’ll have another brewery breaking ground soon.

Went to this establishment on Halloween for they advertised that people should come down after trick or treat in costume and receive a prize. Our group went in and there was no acknowledgment of our costumes or any prize. False advertising. I don’t know what was more stale and flat… the beer or the atmosphere. As soon as our group entered(there was 3 of us) we were eyeballed by 3 old crabby ladies who apparently were not impressed with our costumes. Stay home and watch jeopardy! Needless to say we had one beer and got out of there as soon as possible. Will not be back.

Semi gourmet pizzas they served. It’s actually the only thing they serve. Service was slow, one person show. We ordered three pizzas and one was still cold in the center. At least they had Spotted Cow in draft. Bathroom small.

They have a nice selection of beer with a few Pizzas and 2 chips with dip appetizers. We popped in on a Sunday around 5. They had 1 person behind the bar and serving the tables. If they were properly staffed and I didn’t have to wait at the bar for 15 min to get a beer it would be 4 stars. Also if they offered something besides a couple types of pizzas i probably would go 4 stars. We left in search of another bar restaurant because a member of our group is lactose intolerant. If you are cruising down Hwy 12 and want a beer and some pizza then this place would be pretty OK.

Fairly busy(and a little under staffed) on a chilly Sunday following the Treinen Farm corn maze which was 15 min away. Once we finally ordered, the house made Butternut Road brew was pretty good and the ladies enjoyed the guest tap: New Glarus strawberry-rhubarb. The pub chips and house french onion dip was delicious! Was hoping for dinner, but was discouraged by the growing trend of only having imported pizza that was prepped and partly cooked somewhere else. Enjoyable atmosphere and live music at the right sound level would have pushed me up to 4 stars but the slow service upon arrival is keeping me at 3.

Great craft beer selection, delicious pizzas, service ok. Worth the stop! Had the sausage/pepperoni, taco taco, and spinach/artichoke/chicken pizzas — the last one was hands down the best of the three!

The last time I was here, the place was still«Jimmy’s» and it was, well… sketchy at best. I’m a fan of the Woodshed series of beers, which you can often find on tap at Vintage in Madison, so I was excited when I discovered the place was open at 3pm on a quiet Wednesday afternoon. + Friendly bartender/owner/proprietor — very helpful and knowledgable + Great happy hour specials($ 3 pints) + Nice selection of beers from Woodshed, Vintage, and other local breweries + Comfy bar setting; seats were great, bar has awesome local feel + Fun local patrons; engaging and very nice + Decent jukebox/sound system + Lots of televisions, placed well + Great décor — love the multi-filament light bulbs — Tiny bathrooms — Limited food menu, but hey, it’s primarily a bar/ale house, so that’s not really a negative I’m super happy I stopped-in and got to try this place«for real.» If I lived in the Sauk area, this would be my primary watering hole. It’s quite stellar.

Stopped in for lunch on a Sunday. Nice atmosphere and great beers on tap. We enjoyed that they have some beers that are only available at this location. Ordered the Taco pizza and really enjoyed it. Service was great with a friendly staff. Wish that they had an infant high chair, but it is more of a bar than a restaurant so I can’t blame them. Would be a great place to hang out with friends.

It has finely made, high quality craft beers. The selection is big enough to satisfy multiple tastes and pallets but not so large it is overwhelming. It has a lot of potential. The fare is simple. They only do pizza and chips. I like this because it puts the focus on the Beer. It is, after all, an ale house. The pizza is quite good. It is light crispy thin crust with many options. It is not to filling which is nice because, again, it lets you focus on the beer. I intend to frequent this establishment often.

Stopped here after a road ride with my wife to fuel up. We couldn’t have picked a more perfect stop! There is a great atmosphere and despite limited seating, we were able to walk up and get a table for a late lunch. The star of the show is the locally crafted beer. I chose the IPA to start, which has a nice, hoppy flavor. I also had a pint of the coffee stout which could easily win the Great American Beer Festival. While most coffee stouts have a hint of coffee, this beer makes a bold statement. The resulting combination is a breakfast drink ready for the masses! The menu consists of artisan pizzas. I chose the breakfast pizza to go along with the coffee stout. This was a winning combination! The pizza soared with maple syrup flavor, breakfast sausage links and scrambled egg toppings. We also ordered a pepperoni and sausage pizza which was fantastic. This restaurant/ale house is a real treasure. We will definitely be back!

We were so excited when we heard the Woodshed was opening up. However, we were left a bit disappointed. The pizzas are great but the beers were disappointing. As fans of craft beers, and different styles of beer, we were underwhelmed. The brews were very light on flavor and body for their respective styles. The service was a bit confusing, as there was a waitress walking around with a notepad asking if we were going to order anything, only to send us to the bar to get our beers, and order our pizzas. We are hopeful that they will iron out the kinks as they go, and perhaps the beers will improve.

Five stars for the beer and atmosphere. The pizza was pretty good but pretty tiny. Favorite beer was definitely the coffee stout. The only thing that is a negative would be capacity. We have had to wait at other establishments until some space opened up for us to imbibe. Hope they are here to stay!

This place is awesome! The atmosphere, beer, pizza, and staff are exceptional. The prices are reasonable for the beer, a little pricy on the pizza but is well worth it. I find Sunday afternoons are the best time to go. Dinner time gets busy and service slows down, the beer makes it worth it! Sauk really needed a place like this, adds some class.
