It’s getting better. I bit the bullet the other day giving S&S another chance food shopping here, as I did not want to deal with Market Basket Hell!!/price increase. I did a normal full cart of shopping including proteins(chix tenders, pork and shoulder steaks) and paid around $ 200.00 for everything after using S&S discount card. Produce has also improved in selection and freshness. The store was not that busy(which i found a relief) and the parking lot situation is ten times better than Market Basket(Revere & Chelsea especially) these days. My only problem with S&S is they’ve been VERY inconsistent over the last some odd years with pricing and quality; hopefully with Market Basket around maybe they’ll stay this way and be worth the trip.

I really hope a store manager or supervisor reads this. Not because I want something for free or because I feel entitled but because the employee behavior was simply unacceptable. If you hate your job that much, please quit and save everybody from having to deal with your miserable attitude. The entire experience was completely and totally awful. From people taking up several parking spaces, as well as parking in the fire lane, to store layout and cleanliness, this Stop n Shop has a lot to be desired. The 2 deli associates ignored me while I stood(as the only customer) for over 5 minutes. They continued with their personal gossipy conversation and completely ignored me. I did not end up getting any deli items bc of them. The produce section is not only horribly laid out but half of the selection is already rotting and there are many many fruit flies. Several of the other customers were opening packages of strawberries, eating some, and tossing the moldy ones aside. Why does the store allow people to touch packaged fruit? And then throw it on the floor?! GROSS. The organic selection is pitiful at best. The few organic items they did carry were past the sell by date or already going bad and visibly mushy/moldy. I did my best to make responsible, nutritious, healthy choices. They really make it difficult for you here! Once I made my way to the cashier, the light was on however she refused to make eye contact or acknowledge me. I said«hello» as Pam the frumpy middle aged cashier continued to ignore me. I repeated myself except much louder this time, «HELLO!». Pam now looked up at me, furrowed her eyebrows, wrinkled her nose and said«What!?» I replied«I am simply saying hello. Maybe you should try to be a little nicer to people: especially paying customers.» Chris, the teenage bagger looked up at me with blood shot squinty eyes and smiled. Pam scanned my groceries with a frown as Chris bagged them with a stoned smile. I paid for my items and as I left I turned around and said«I hope you both have a great evening! And hey, Pam, life is too short to be this miserable, smile!» She snorted as Chris giggled. Filthy dirty store, unsanitary mouth breather customers touching every piece of fruit, absent managers, terrible produce, simply awful organic selection, and VERY rude employees. One star for ample parking and one for being open late night. Avoid this SnS if you can!

The layout of this location has got to be the worst one I’ve been to. This place is always packed with cars and it’s difficult to find parking during a majority of the day. I believe this can be attributed to the fact that it’s one of the few on the strip and the other being Whole Foods which is expensive. The layout looks like a child put it together and there is always clutter about. I’ve visited a lot of Stop & Shops in my day and this one just seemed to be the runt of the litter. Besides that, this is basically your run of the mill grocery store. One last note, avoid this place from the hours of 4 – 7 because the traffic around it is horrendous.

Been going here longer than I can remember or care to admit. I don’t think they could have made the aisles any narrower and stayed within fire codes. I’m sure all those point of display displays they have clogging the mentioned aisles does violate fire codes. I used to like the Boar’s Head cold cuts until I started shopping at Pace’s in Saugus. The Boar’s Head ham within 3 – 4 four days would start smelling like ammonia, so I would toss it. The Dietz and Watson cold cuts I buy at Pace’s after 3 – 4 days smell like cured ham. Awesomeness I buy only dry goods at the Stop and Shop now. But the experience is generally unpleasant, I’ll probably start going to Hannafords. One of the good things about this location is that they hire mentally disadvantaged people. I consider that a big plus and like to support businesses that do something like that.

I’ll start on a positive note. Sto Sho is open till 11 which is convenient. They also carry Boar’s Head products. Besides that I really don’t have much to say. Everything I buy is cheaper at Hannaford and the produce selection at Hannaford is a million times better.

I’ll start with the good: First, It was recently remodeled, so shopping here is usually nice because it’s clean and well-organized. Plus I can submit my deli order as soon as I walk in, then pick it up once I make my rounds. Second, The bearded guy who stocks the produce is really nice and helpful. I was looking for two different types of chili peppers, and he directed me to the display and also showed me how to pick the freshest ones. Now, the bad: While browsing, I noticed that the Stop & Shop brand of flavored seltzer water was being discontinued, so I grabbed 4 bottles — at 67 cents a pop. Of course, you had to use your Stop & Shop card for them to honor this price. I get to the checkout lane and notice I don’t have my card, so I say to the man«I lost my card, can you scan yours?» No problem. Done and done. Then I proceed to the customer service desk and explain to the girl that I received my new card in the mail, but have since lost it — so I needed a replacement. Had I known this was going to be such a drawn out procedure, I would have skipped all the B.S. and just went on with my life. She asks me for I.D. I give her I.D. She’s typing away, and she takes out a new card. I thought this was going to be quick. Well… after about 10 minutes, she asks for my SS#. I give that to her… now she asks another lady at the service desk for help. She instructs her to press F9, and confirm my information. Apparently this doesn’t work. Now I’m standing here for another 10 minutes. Ridiculous. Why couldn’t she just call a manager and figure this shit out? Another 10 minutes pass and I just tell her I need my I.D. back because I can’t wait any longer. Seriously? Is it that difficult? Good lord. Back to Market Basket.
