This is my favorite restaurant in west Michigan! We’ve dined here on many occasions and have always been impressed with the cooking, presentation and service. Shaun’s bisque is exceptional!

Great place for a special evening out(as it is a little expensive). The inn has a great ambiance and everything I had was wonderful and flavorful, my husbands steak was a little over done. Get reservations if you can! Would have been five stars but for the price I expect perfection… will be back though.

Coming from Chicago I wasnt expecting much from restaurants in Saugatuck. We came to the belvedere inn restaurant on a saturday night and were blown away by everything. Its located on a side road in the middle of the country in this great bed and breakfast type place. Service was great, drinks were spot on, and the food was absolutely incredible. Literally one of the top 5 restaurants me and my girlfriend have been to in the past year. Only draw back was the price, but highly highly recommend!

Best bed and Breakfast I’ve ever been to. The hosts Shaun and Pete were terrific. The scenery and food were outstanding. If you are looking for a beautiful, quiet and luxurious B&B look no further than the Belvedere.

I cannot recommend this restaurant more highly!!! If you have the opportunity to dine here, please do so! We celebrated my 50th birthday here with a large party of ten. The chef and kitchen handled it effortlessly. Among the 10 of us, at least one of us had each of the entrées on the menu, and everyone raved about their meal. All appetizers and soups were wonderful as well. The staff was very accommodating, and my conversations with them prior to arrival made me feel confident about this choice for such a special event. We were able to speak with the chef after dinner, which was a very nice touch. Aside from the wonderful food and service, the Inn itself is gorgeous, and very romantic. I will definitely dine here again during my next trip to Saugatuck/Douglas!!!

My Husband and I recently spent our 2nd Anniversary weekend at the Belvedere Inn. The Inn and grounds were stunning, and the fall foliage was at it’s peak. This Inn is a really nice spot to enjoy a nice fall getaway, warm and inviting. When we first arrived, Shaun, Chef and Owner, took our things and gave us a brief history of the Inn and a little tour around the bottom level. He showed us to our room which was romantic, cozy, and had a ton of natural light shining through these big vintage windows. The Inn also featured Gilchrist & Soames bath products which are very luxurious. The first evening Shaun gave us the recommendation to go eat at Phil’s in downtown Saugatauck, about a 5 – 7 min drive. Phil’s was actually really good, and had a lively and fun atmosphere. Saturday evening we dined at the Belvedere, and I just cannot say enough about this restaurant, and Inn. We came down from our room and were greeted by Shaun and some other staff members. We were shown to the Library, and offered cocktails while we awaited our seating. I ordered a sidecar, which was crafted with house-made ingredients, and perfectly proportioned. We were then seated in the dining room which is furnished with a gorgeous combination of original Victorian, and modem country pieces. The first course was served promptly and was delicious. My husband got the mussels, and said they were some of the best he’s had. The beet and pear salad I ordered was superb as well! The main course was amazing. I had the pork tournedos and my husband had the steak. The pork was done with a prune sauce, and again the proportions of the spices and ingredients were spot on. Shaun is really skilled with flavor balance in his dishes, making them delicious and satisfying. The staff even remembered it was our anniversary and added a small lit candle as part of the presentation of the desert. They did not make a big fuss of it, just a simple gesture. It was very nice. Everything about this experience was classic and well-executed. I’ve spend a lot of time abroad, and this was reminiscent of a European weekend. Shaun is proper, and truly knows how make guests feel comfortable. If you have ever seen Downtown Abbey, that is what I would liken the Belvedere to. but more awesome and with wi-fi.

We’ve spent $ 125(with tip) for far less quality, service, atmosphere and ambiance. From the hospitality when we stopped by in the afternoon to look to calling in to request a reservation for the 8:00 seating to taking our coats and welcoming us Shaun was warm, welcoming, friendly and professional. We were told we be taken care by Linda and we were seated in a beautiful dining room near the fireplace. Linda was wonderful… attentive without hovering My husband and I each ordered 2 courses but we shared his pâté and my arugula salad and it was as if we had 3 courses, and more than enough food! The entrees were beautifully plated and delicious! I had pork tournedos with prunes and my husband had the filet. Both were perfectly prepared. I also liked to sautéed spinach with my dish and the brocolini with my husband’s We are not wine experts but enjoyed the 2 glasses of house wines we ordered It’s off season so it wasn’t crowded. If we’re ever back on this side of Michigan we’ll make a reservation to return.

For special occasions such as anniversaries this is the place. Wonderful food and setting. I really recommend the chateaubriand. It was heavenly. The beet and pear salad and the liver pâté were excellent. It is timed seating and pri fixed. Worth making the reservations.

Atmosphere is nice in a rustic inn, but reservations are very rigid. By the way do not arrive famished. No bread comes with your cocktail or wine and the service is slow. The food is good but slightly overpriced for that area, I think.

Tonight was our first visit and it was Thanksgiving where they featured their buffet at $ 50 per person. Right away, they were in trouble because the best buffet in the country at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs is less. The turkey was incredibly underdone — maybe 140, dark pink and inedible. The rest was just mediocre with no highlights. Unfortunately, their by the glass wine list left lots to be desired. Pinot Noir from the Languedoc, and a host of low price California’s. The desert was also weak with a nice selection, but nothing that was outstanding. So $ 175 dollars later with tip, drinks, etc. we left never to return.

Food was wonderful — we had salmon and steak, along with the 4 course option — quality rivals big city cuisine. Ambiance is cute like you’re eating in your great aunt’s dining room

Stunning, well groomed location. The grounds are breathtaking, sort of drips romance at every turn. Great for couples. I was there for Christmas brunch. For a prix fixe menu at 50 a person I would have hoped for a slightly larger selection. There were a few amazing dishes that I was throughly impressed with. There was a cheese and onion tart that was sublime. Very few options for vegetarians or non red meat eaters. I found my sliced pork and prime rib to be a little dry and overcooked. The side dishes were very good. Including the Yorkshire pudding which was authentic and delicious. Desserts were okay. Drinks were very pricey. 10 per martini. Shaun the head chef was charming and nice and Irish! My big big complaint was our server. She seemed annoyed from the second we sat down. There were 10 of us. So, at 50 a person, you’d think she would have been a tad more friendly and available, I had never been to the belvedere in all my years of coming to saugatuck. I really wanted to know about the history of the building, maybe see a room… Our server informed me I’d need to pay to take a tour and provided me ZERO info about the history. I walked around and did find another server who was happy to give me the history of this beautiful b&b. I’ll definitely return, I’d love to give this location another shot. My dad loves this place and raves about it.

No children, no smoking and no pets??? Too bad this isn’t an entire colony! What a beautiful bed and breakfast! The place and the grounds were absolutely immaculate. You never have to leave the place, which is a good thing, because it’s not walking distance to downtown Saugatuck. We received a dining credit with our stay, and we almost didn’t use it, because we thought leaving the premises would give us more of a sense of occasion. I couldn’t be happier that we stayed. The service and the food were spectacular! The owners knew most of the locals, and would sit at their tables and chat with them. It’s very intimate, as the dining room is small, but so very worth the money for the quality of food, accommodations and service! We will definitely return!

This is a review of the restaurant only. My boyfriend took me for dinner for my birthday on July 24, 2011. The building, the grounds and the atmosphere are absolutely lovely. My man ordered a 4-course meal, and I ordered a 3-course. It was delicious. The flavors were amazing. Your meal is quality over quantity at The Belvedere, which I would choose any day of the week. The appetizers, sides and desserts are out of this world. The ambiance is intimate, quiet and elegant. My only complaint is that my filet mignon was a bit dry. And for the sticker price at The Belvedere, the steak shouldn’t be dry. ALWAYS call well in advance for reservations, as there are only about eight tables. Make the effort to get a bit more dressed up when you go to The Belvedere, and know that it is very pricey: Our tab– including 2 glasses of wine– was $ 120 without tip, $ 142 with. If the weather is conducive, stroll the grounds. And leave children under the age of 13 at home.

I wish I could go higher than five stars for the Belvedere. We had a four-course meal for $ 50/person, with every course prepared to absolute perfection; it would have been a bargain at twice the price(don’t tell Shaun that though!!). I’d really like to know where Shaun gets all these flavor combinations. The care taken shows up not only in the main dishes, but in the supporting cast as well — the garnishes, the sauces, even the side dishes. I literally cannot remember ever having potatoes that tasted as good as those that were served with the Chateaubriand for two — they almost stole the show from the beef! The Inn itself is beautifully restored inside with a porch area outside the downstairs dining area. You can tell that there’s been a lot of care taken with the landscaping and the grounds and the living areas inside. Paula and I don’t stay and bed and breakfasts much, but I’d probably jump at a chance to stay here. This is an absolute must-stop for anyone who has a special occasion to celebrate in the Holland/Saugatuck/Douglas area. You will NOT regret it!

I would have to say this was the best meal of our lives, and don’t take that lightly because we have dined at some amazing places. We aren’t from here and my husband looked long and hard for a place for my birthday. We had the 4 course meal and our chosen entrée was the chateaubriand for two. It was outstanding and literally every dish did not disappoint. Dinner lasted 3 hours they don’t rush the courses. A four course dinner will run you $ 50 a person. where we come from it would have been $ 90 a person. Well worth the cost and the ambience can’t be beat!

I really can’t say enough good things about the Belvedere Inn & Restaurant. My girlfriend and I took a sort of impromptu trip to Saugatuck and stayed here. We had a wonderful time. The staff are hospitable, our room was clean and wonderful, it was a peaceful and relaxing stay, and we ate some delicious food. The Inn is a couple miles from downtown Saugatuck and is on some gorgeous land. I can’t tell if there’s a path to walk from the Inn to downtown Saugatuck, which would be nice to do if the weather permits. It was too cold for us, so we just drove downtown. Breakfast in the mornings was delicious and everything is homemade. The inkeeper, Shaun, is also the chef and he is awesome at making simple and delicious food. We had stuffed French toast, and vegetable frittata. We also ate at their restaurant one night, which is open to the public. It was a nice experience, although I am not dying to do it again next time I go back – I’d rather try a new place. Overall, our stay at the Belvedere Inn was amazing and I’d love to go back, but will reserve this spot for special occasions.

I’m shocked to be the first person to review this place. It looks like it’s been here a while and that they have their act together. Now, we did not stay at the Belvedere, we only ate there. I can’t speak to the accommodations, but the grounds are beautiful. I do want to stay in the future. There were four of us and we just wanted to stay 2 nights and they had a 3 night minimum. We ended up renting a house near the downtown of Saugatauk that was a lot of fun. The Belvedere is more on the romantic side. For the restaurant review, we loved it. It’s a tasting menu. What I thought was remarkable is the number of main courses to choose from. Typically, you have 3 maybe 4 choices, but the Belvedere had atleast 8. The cost by fine dining standards was reasonable and worth every penny. You can expect to pay for meal, drinks, tax tip around $ 70 per person. Again, a little surprised to be the first review, but there are a bunch of reviews on Google here Here is their website.
