Took my almost 2.5 year old son earlier today(walked in) and he got a regular boy’s cut done for $ 18. The place is very cutely done and true to its name has a ton of lollipops, 1 of which my son made sure he got. I liked that he enjoyed the ambience, tv and the toys around were a good distraction and he overall didn’t get upset in the process. The lady who cut his hair was calm and focused to finish it in the shortest time as well. Just make sure to have cash or check on you as cards are not accepted !

I brought in my 7 year old daughter for a trim and some layers. The lady that did her hair did not speak a word of English another lady had to come and translate every time we needed to communicate with her. She was not gentle at all with my daughter’s hair, she had no other brushes or combs to use for different hair types, my daughter has very thick wavy hair. She pulled and pulled while brushing as if my daughter was one of her practise dolls. Luckily I had a comb in my purse and gave it to her to use. But she still kept on pulling at it. I’ve take my daughter to many other hair salons in the past and she loved going to them but this place is horrible. My daughter had tears rolling down her face by the end of the hair cut and the lady showed no remorse just plain cold. My daughter later told me to never ever take her here again, she was in so much pain. And her hair did not even turn out straight, some strands are longer than the others. My son who is 17 months was supposed to have a fun first hair cut experience. I thought since they have all of the child friendly equipment that he would enjoy it. I told her that he only needed a trim to even out some of his longer hair from the top with the hair under it. The first thing she did was grab the machine and went for his head. I told her scissors were just fine and not to use the machine, she did not listen just went at his head anyway. My son screamed traumatized, crying, as this was his first time ever being at the hair salon and someone is going at his head with a loud machine. She did not stop for a second, luckily after a minute or so what seemed like forever to me she was finished then switched to scissors and my son relaxed then again she turned on that stupid machine I told her again do not use the machine she did not listen I had to raise my voice and tell her to stop and turn it off and we are done here, I took him out before she could even clean him up. It was awful. Will never ever go back here again. They need to train their staff how to cut hair and how to treat children.

Terrible experience. My daughter had hair all over her undershirt. She was completely itchy and uncomfortable. They refunded the cost but really didn’t think it was a big deal. The stylist had no bed side manner either.

I was nervous with my daughter(15 mo) first hair cut. She got a trim– no bangs. Annie was the stylist and she was phenomenal. She engaged with my daughter from the beginning, and my daughter went from grumpalump to happy camper. They also gave a complimentary hair clip. The cut cost $ 18. The 18 $ is worth it for the patient calm stylist, cool car hair seat, and toys galore. The atmosphere is exactly what was needed to ease my daughter, especially with some other screaming patrons elsewhere.

My toddler is amazing 99.9% of the time. He hates getting haircuts. It is the one thing I absolutely dread having to do with him. The woman that cut my son’s hair was a saint. Like a combination ninja/angel. He thrashed, he screamed, he cried. She kept her cool and did her thing. His hair looks fantastic. I have no idea how she managed to do it. I watched the whole time, and I still couldn’t believe it. If it were appropriate, I would’ve kissed her. Of course, my son was fine afterward, but I can’t imagine anyone else being so patient and producing such a great result. I love this place and will come back(if they let us back in). Thank you, thank you!

I’ve been coming here since my son was 1 year old and I absolutely love it here. I usually see Annie and she is great and very patient. I saw Natalie today and I was very pleased, my son looks so handsome as usual thanks to his great hair cut. I also like the toy area they have for the kiddos. I will continue to come here.

I have taken my son here(3.5) 4 times now since he was 2ish. Annie is my favorite and she always does a good cut and is patient with my son. I will keep coming back here until he’s ready for a barber.

I have come here many times and always wonder whether I should go back. It’s not the haircut that’s off-putting. As others have mentioned, it’s the attitude of the owner that’s difficult to contend with. If everything goes perfectly, you will not have a problem. But if there are any problems — your child is fidgety, haircut uneven, etc, and you make any comments or suggestions regarding them, you will be quickly put in your place and denigrated. And the owner can never be wrong. At this point, there’s been too many experiences of mistreatment to go back.

Went there for the first time today. Cute little place. Nothing posh, but they have decorated it really cute and it’s super pleasing to a child’s eyes. Love that they had the loft with toys for my other little one to play during the haircut. I thought the stylist did a great job. She was quick and efficient and everyone’s happy when you get a lollipop at the end! Only reason why I don’t give it 5 stars is because it is a bit more pricey than a cheap kids’ haircut place, but I think it’s worth it. My daughter actually asked, «Next time I get a haircut can we come back to this place?»

Ordinary haircut for an extraordinary price. There is nothing special about this kids’s salon. It’s cramped, dirty and quite frankly looked like a dump during my last visit. The hair stylists seemed to be in a rush, and they didn’t seem to have any special skills to handle restless children for a haircut other than commanding to keep the head down. When I pointed out unevenness to the stylist, she dismissed me saying that she is a «professional». In the end the haircut seemed OK, but this place doesn’t offer anything worth $ 18 for a 10-minute mediocre haircut.

We took our son for his first hair cut and it was GREAT! He was so occupied by eating a lollipop and playing with the car he was sitting in he didn’t realize what’s going on. Everybody were great and it’s a great place for kids. I will definitely recommend them and come back with my son.

I have been going to another place in SJ for a few years with my kids. This place was closer and charged the same so we tried it out. These ladies are fantastic and this place is so fun for the kids. This will be our regular place now!

Terrible customer service. Disappointing since this place gets good reviews. Here are the reasons for the 1 star 1. Bedside manner– the woman cutting my sons hair knew it was his second hair cut and did not engage him at all. He was crying and terrified at the clippers that she insisted on using despite our instruction otherwise. Also the place is filled with toys but she did not even engage him until the end of the cut. I don’t know why she cuts kids hair if she is unwilling to engage a child. 2 do not follow your instruction– we said no clippers and leave a little length. They used clippers and gave our son a very close bowl cut. 3 customer service– I complained to the manager during all of this and she completely dismissed me. She said this is how we do hair cuts. I said you are not listening to your customer. She rolled her eyes and smiled. Terrible experience and will never return!

We’ve been here at last 5 times, starting when Kiddo was only about 15 months old. The first one, he hated and it was a team effort. The ones after that he tolerated and got GREAT haircuts. I even got my haircut there(I forgot the price, but it was cheap compared to Bay Area prices) after Kiddo because he was happily playing upstairs in their loft(that sounds weird, but it has a stair gate and a whole bunch of toys). My hair turned out fantastic and it saved me from putting it off any longer, as a busy mommy. You don’t know a good thing until it’s gone! We are in Ely, Cambridgeshire now and they have NOTHING like Lollipop Cuts. I have yet to find any place like them. We will just have to visit home every so often. ;)

Been here twice with my 1 year old son and had the same young girl cut his hair on both occasions. She did an amazing job both times! I really liked that she was quick and confident when cutting his hair, and she paid great attention to all the little detail. She made sure that it was not crooked and double-checked her work. Also, there are many toys to grab in case your little one is itching to get out of the chair. I am very happy with the salon and hope that the same hairstylist is still there for his next haircut! Only downside is that you do end up paying $ 18 – 20 per haircut, which is more than usual compared to a regular hair salon. However, I’m happy to pay this much for a great haircut and for my son being able to sit in the chair through the whole process!

My 3 year old son is terribly afraid of having his hair cut and I resorted to clipping it in the bathtub. Being that I should go nowhere near his hair with scissors, I had to bite the bullet and take him to a professional. He SCREAMEDANDSCREAMED. But you know what, I just HAD to have someone fix the mess I made. And the lady at Lollipop cuts for kids was WONDERFUL. She kept her cool. She didn’t get upset with my son when he basically tried to take the clippers out of her hand. She did such a thorough job! Thank you sooooo much for your help today! His birthday is tomorrow and we are just so happy with the results!!!

We’ve been coming to Lollipop for a couple of years with our two boys(7 and 6 yo). Natalie and Annie are really sweet and accommodating. They do their best to squeeze us in, even if they are busy. Definitely make reservations, as they are busy on Saturdays and late afternoons. Their prices are very reasonable, and our boys always look sharp after their cuts. They spend a lot of time on each cut, but are very thorough. Several times, they didn’t charge us for a full boys cut, citing they only did some clean up. I appreciate this customer service, as some places wouldn’t be that fair. Lollipop definitely caters to children. They have a bright and engaging space. Lots of mags for the parents and lots of toys and a play area for kids. They always have a kids movie on, and a lollipop for the kids after their cuts. I’ve seen little girls leave with sparkles in their hair, or cute little feather extensions for fun. I’ve seen some of the negative reviews here for Lollipop and waned to say that I’ve been at a Lollipop lots of times when the very little ones come in for their first cuts and have the full-on screaming, crying meltdown. I’ve only ever seen the ladies here be calm and gently firm with these little ones, even when I’m cringing in my seat at how loud the kids are wailing. You know how the tiny ones can be about their first cuts! Sometimes the parents of these kids are super helpful — hovering around to help soothe, other times, these parents make things worse. If you have the teeny tiny kids, there is always the risk that they freak out and require a little more handling. And, those children are going to freak out regardless of where you take them. Again, I’ve only seen the ladies here be very professional in those situations. For us, we’ve had wonderful experiences here and this place is a gem!

This is the worst place for kids hair cut !!! I took my son(one and half year old) for hair cut. The lady was so impatient that she didn’t give a chance to boy to sit properly. She did not even single time talk to kid, neither hello or any smile. Kid started crying but she didnt took a pause and applied force to control kid. I interrupted asked to wait a min, but she asked me to hold kid tight, he is un-controllable. When boy grabbed me, she started cutting hair forcefully. At that point I got mad and stopped her. Avoid this place at any cost, a normal hair-saloon will do much better job.

I googled for hair cut places for kids in Santa Clara and stumbled upon the Lollipop Cuts. I took my 20 month old boy for a haircut. The first thing that struck me when I entered was the car-chairs where the kids would sit to get their haircut. The ambience was simply awesome — toys all around, cars, bus, cartoon playing — it is someplace the kids would exactly want to be and providing enough distraction to get the hair cut done. My son usually gets restless after sometime but he didn’t this time. And he also got free lollipops which just sealed the deal for him. Just one thing I noticed was that the stylists were not particularly kid ‘friendly’. They are fine but they didn’t actively interact or engage with him which you would expect in a kids exclusive place like this. Personally that’s ok with me, but it did make it lose points on that elated customer experience. PS: I also saw a board that read $ 5 extra for children who whine. I thought it was out of place. Isn’t it expected and inevitable in some cases? Aren’t you already charging a premium for the hair cut taking all that into consideration?($ 18) Anyways as long as that attitude doesn’t reflect on their service I am ok with it.
