Horrible customer service and now out of business?! DONOTGOHERE. I dropped off a large pile of high-valued clothes and shoes about 3 weeks ago, on a Sunday. The young man working the front(seemed like he had no idea what he was doing) took my bags, had me fill out a paper form with my email address and phone number, and told me that someone would go through my items, send me an email confirming if they took any of my items and the amount I would receive. He also said that anything they did not take, I would have to schedule a time to come by to get the rest of my items. That was a Sunday. One week later I called the store to get the rest of my items back and to see if they took any of them to consign, as I did not receive an email or communications thus far. The phone rang and rang and went to a recording saying that the ‘voice mailbox was full and could not take any more messages at this time.‘ Ok… I tried calling twice more and once the next day. Same thing. I decided to call their Los Gatos location(which I had no idea they had one until I searched for a different phone number). I was able to leave a voice message with the LG location, staying hopeful. I then went by the Saratoga location on a day they are open. No one inside, no lights on, clearly closed, still with all the clothes in the store but no signs at all on the outside of the store except for their sign. There are no signs of when the store is open, hours, or if the store is closed permanently. Then I went by the Los Gatos store to see if I could talk to someone, since no one had called me back. SAMETHING. I have no idea if they are out of business but clearly they’re not open and possibly may not be ever again. I WANTMYCLOTHESBACK.

I had not consigned clothes for years, preferring to donate them to charities or give them to friends. But, since the holidays were nearing & I had several price-tags-still-on designer items, I offered them(& a few similar, though dry-cleaned items) to to Fifth Avenue for consignment. The owner/representative insisted that I sign a release, but refused to give me a copy. She said that she would read it to me instead. She told me to leave the items, but did not count them or offer me a receipt. Although this seemed a dubious way of doing business, my friend and I itemized the items and left them with Fifth Avenue Consignment. Surprisingly, later that evening, I was copied on an e-mail from someone who was demanding that Fifth Avenue return or reimburse them for items consigned several months before. I sent Fifth Avenue a brief e-mail saying that I hoped I would not have a similar problem. The next day, I received an unexpected. curt e-mail informing me that none of my items were suitable and that I had 24 hours to pick everything up – or they would be donated. It would be easy to miss a sudden deadline such as this, particularly when hundreds or thousands of dollars are at stake. Bottom line: be cautious.

I took in a lot of clothes, Eventually received 2 checks in the mail for about $ 20. + each. Didn’t know what they had sold as it was just a check in an envelope. This is months ago and I have no clue what has or is happening to the clothes I gave them. I, also, was not impressed with the people that work there when I went in and should have listened to my instincts.

Crappy customer service. When I asked about finding a fancy dress I was not helped or pointed in any direction, only told that the store is organized by color. SO not helpful! The older lady working was far too engrossed in watching some video on her laptop :( Hard to find anything in the store as it’s(sort of) «organized» by color. So if you are looking for an evening dress you have to look in multiple different locations. When you go to check out, your purchase is rung up on a laptop. I was not given an opportunity to look over the bill, nor was I told the final amount being charged — silly me for being in a hurry and not asking. They don’t take Amex, like their website advertises. I was told that the bill would be emailed to me, 8 hours later and I still have not received an emailed receipt. Did buy some things, at what I thought were inexpensive prices, but my credit card was charged for much more that what it should have rung up to. I will be contacting my cc company to continue holding the charge until I receive the receipt for verification. Will not be returning

I have had two phone calls from 5th Ave wanting to make this situation right. I haven’t had time yet but I am going to give them the chance to find me a dress to replace the one that was sold. Hopefully I can go look tomorrow. The offer for a replacement dress and apology is much appreciated. Fingers crossed for a happy outcome.
