This used to be the«go to» for great Pasta. Somehow over the years the food has gone downhill at both locations. In Saratoga it appears to me they are drawing a large crowd of the adult singles to their happy hour promotion. I guess it’s difficult for me to enjoy listening to that noise while I eat and the 50 ish crowd try’s to pick one another up. I’ve stopped going to either location when in town.

Pop in only because my favorite restaurant to wait is 30mins and I’m hungry. I took restaurant week $ 30 deal with arugula salad, veal mushroom risotto and tiramisu. My friend took special dish on linguine scallops and shrimp scampi. Bread was warm and nice with butter and olive oil. Our appetizer was sautéed mussels with garlic yet seems small and no sight of garlic nor taste. Main dish came and I find again no sign of mushroom nor taste. The veal wasn’t «de-bone» which I wasn’t given a knife and I end up used butter knife to remove it. While my friend’s dish was«soaked» in olive oil. Last but not least, tiramisu which doesn’t look like it but just an unglamorous butter cake. Food verdict: bad. Service staff wasn’t attentive and neither proactively to remove plates upon finished nor refill our water. Bill came up to $ 88.85(incl $ 9 glass of wine). The special dish cost $ 33 which is not worth the price. So above all sums up my 2 stars.

I kept hearing how awesome this place was, so my husband and I walked in on a cold Sunday evening when we didn’t realize that most of the shops would be closed. We just went in for dessert and drinks since we had already had dinner. I was so disappointed :-(The server was very inattentive, and he was very irritated that we weren’t ordering dinner. We ordered the lava cake, and it was extremely overcooked. My drink was also not mixed very well. It was clean, so i’ll give an extra star for that.

There was no wait at 7pm on a Friday(off season), so we were seated right away. The service was fine– nothing special. The food was very good. We started with the sweet and sour calamari, which was a nice play on the usual calamari. I know this sounds odd, but the bread and(herb?) butter were delicious! My husband got the chicken parmesan, which he said was good. I got the linguine and clams. There were several delicious whole clams, many of which were still shelled. The homemade pasta was also wonderful, but it was more like spaghetti instead of linguini. Overall, the food was excellent. I would definitely go back.

I love wheatfields! I like to go whenever I’m in town. Always great service and overly accommodating for the gluten free folks! My waiter even brought out delicious gluten free bread without me asking. I love the wheatfields chopped salad, and all there pasta dishes. Great selection of wine and menu choices. I am from Brooklyn and wish there was one near me!

This was our anniversary dinner and I wanted to like it, but no. Seated right away, but service was the absolute slowest. Our waitress was clearly alone and overwhelmed, but when other tables asked about wait time, she quickly got defensive about«everyone coming in at once.» I get it. There had been a bus and it really backed them up, but that is no excuse to not refill water or ever bring us our bread(we got none, despite all other tables having it, eventually). Apps were fine, for main meals the steak was cooked right, if a smidge lukewarm, but the«famous homemade» pasta was tough. It even had a lump of uncooked dough in it! Though not really the restaurant’s fault, the tables for two are tightly packed and it is awkward to not feel capable of a private conversation, and our next door neighbors were horrendous. We had a long 1.5 hours to listen to them complain loudly, berate the waitress, and also loudly talk about their healthy vegan/gluten free diet and how normal people are entirely unhealthy. Hello! Normal person here and I did not appreciate being made to feel self conscious over my «nice» dinner out. Needless to say, this table was comped for their meal and given doggie bags of fresh dishes by management. For waiting the same amount of time as all other tables. Guess being bossy, loud and rude pays off. Sad to say Wheatfields is off my list and definitely was not worth an anniversary meal.

Pretty consistent but not great. There are so many great restaurants in Saratoga, we usually only go here once a year. Good location and can be easier to get a reservation than some other spots.

We walked in on a Saturday night without a reservation and we seated in 20 minutes. The place was busy, a bit noisy, but happy and lively. We had a really good meal! Entrees are pricey, but the quality is solid. Bread was anemic, but the butter served with it was spectacular — delicious & fresh, with fresh herbs in it. Mussels were served without little forks and were disappointing; some flavoring in them interfered w the mussel taste & broth. We barely touched them. Two meatballs we got as an appetizer were amusingly good; soft and full of good flavor. Arugula salad w goat cheese and roasted beets was good, though I prefer everything in smaller pieces in salad, so I don’t have to work so much at cutting things up. The strip steak was perfect; cooked right and flavorful. The mushroom risotto served with it was a disaster — we should have sent it back, and it may have put us off of risotto for a while. It wasn’t creamy, but a variety of small textures, and the sherry overwhelmed any rice or mushroom flavor. Just awful. Broccolini was cooked fine. We had a side of fettuccine Alfredo that might be the best I’ve had! This was the antidote for a dish that is often carelessly made; the fresh homemade pasta made me understand why«toothy» is a good thing for pasta; it was deliciously chewy, and the sauce was a party in your mouth, not the sad goo so many Alfredo sauces are. I don’t even know why I ordered it, but I’m glad I did. A beer on tap was fresh and cool and the vodka gimlet was an achievement in bar tending! Made with fresh lime juice, but not tart or bitter, with some real complexity. It was cool and fresh and the last sip was as rewarding as the first. Service was friendly and competent — very trained. If this place is in your budget, I highly recommend it.

Was super hungry and wanted to find some food around 4PM during the week. Didn’t think it would be that hard but a lot of restaurant were closed until 5PM. Service was ehhh. Food was extremely pricey for the little portions and Alright tasting food. Items ordered: Appetizer: Sauted Pei Mussels — the sauce was super tangy and for the price i think we had countable 15 mussels — that was pretty pathetic Shoestring truffle fries — there was barely any truffle flavor on the fries and the garlic aoili just tasted like straight mayo. Perhaps this should be just renamed to shoestring fries. Entrée: Crab mac and cheese — i do not really know where the crab was. Perhaps it was shredded in there but there was no flavor of it. I think if they are going to call it crab mac and cheese they should really have chunks of crab as I was unable to taste or see it. Lobster Ravioli — the lobster ravioli lacked flavor — it definitely needed the sauce also where was my lump crab — that was not in site as well. Lastly while we were sitting there for the hour that we were there we were being attacked by flies. we were in the restaurant swatting flies. I think we had as many flies as we had on the mussels which was a major turn off. Would not recommend and would not be back.

Love love love Wheatfields… I had Chicken Parm for $ 21 which is a bit high but not for Saratoga in August! DH had Fettuccini Alfredo @ $ 19… Went to charge the bill and the server charged our bill 1cent… We told him and he said thanks for being honest. We smiled :) wouldn’t everyone tell? I think so!

The location and concept are great but their food is really average. I’ve been there on a couple of occasion and nothing I had made me want to come back. With so much competition around I was expecting something much better.

Not impressed at all. Their food and service is overrated and way overpriced for what you get. Now that I’ve been to both locations, I can say that I am just not a fan of Wheatfields at all.

I’ve been to the Clifton Park location once before and thought it was OK and that I would give Wheatfields another try but after Friday night, this will be my last visit to any location. A group of friends and I were looking for a place to eat in Saratoga on a Friday night without reservations(rookie mistake) and were told by every restaurant that their next available reservation wasn’t for another two hours. We walked past Wheatfields and figured we’d see what they had for availability and somehow we were sat immediately. That was probably the only good thing about the whole experience. I ordered the red sangria, which was good but overpriced. I also ordered the calamari, which again was pretty good but over priced. The serving size wasn’t too plentiful either. For my entrée I ordered the lasagna and a side of meatballs(Don’t judge I was hungry). Food came out pretty quick, but it lacked major flavor. The sauce was not hearty at all and it tasted like it was missing something. It was really liquidy and the tomato chunks looked like they were poured from a can. Overall, the lasagna tasted like it was frozen, reheated and served. Gross. Isn’t homemade pasta their claim to fame? The meatballs were actually some of the worst I’ve ever had. They were so dry and again, flavorless. To top everything off halfway through my meal I got the worst pains in my stomach that lasted the rest of the night. I felt like I was going to be sick every 10 minutes. The value of what you’re paying for just isn’t there. All their entrees, apps and drinks are way overpriced by at least 3 – 4 bucks and are’t worth it at all. Bland, flavorless, mediocre food. There’s so many better options.

The place doesn’t disappoint. I had a kale and spinach salad the was perfect for a hot afternoon in August. Loved the lasagna though it was a mammoth potion.

OMG, this place has gotten even better since i was here 3 years ago. the service was awesome and sat us right away despite the crowd they had. Our waiter was funny and the food was to die for. I brought my best friend and he actually moaned when he bit into the bruchetta! we did the appetizer sampler and it was the best anti-pasta i have ever had– meats, cheese, olives, bruchetta, mozzarella and tomatoes and basil. Then i got the chicken rigatoni(it was orgasmic) and he got the linguine and meatballs. The meatballs were packed with steam once you cut into them, with your fork! i wish i had more room so i could have tried a dessert but the watermelon cooler and the Manhattan were good enough to count as such. Don’t even think about it, just go here!

If you get last minute reservations somewhere on Mother’s Day, you should question why… The food was overpriced, bland, undercooked, and in small portions. The service was mediocre, bordering on bad, and the place was half full, so being busy doesn’t count as a reason. All over, pretty forgettable. Spend your money elsewhere.

YUCKY gluten-free from UNSAVORY owners. If you are craving gluten-free pizza– head somewhere else(e.g.closer to Fish Creek) or just pop Against the Grain pizza(available at most local supermarkets and Healthy Living) in the oven. Similarly, Wheatfileds’ gluten free bread will remind you of the dawn of g/f foods when stuff tasted like cellulose. What this place has — a location, what it lacks — taste buds and integrity. I have reviewed the owners’ other restaurant BWP as well. This is where unsavory part comes in. My friend had an experience with the owners who walked in an establishment next door to theirs, had their fill of food and drinks AND good service and… tipped their waiter with… a coupon to their new restaurant ! These people smiled and appeared happy about the service they received but their cordiality was reduced to a stinking coupon for 15% off at their new restaurant. WTF? People in the restaurant industry, in their own town can’t reward a good cocktail waiter who was running back and forth to serve them? Just how special and entitled can they possibly feel? I don’t think I want to patronize these guys’ businesses! And dear Unilocalers, while we are on the topic. Can we please teach our children: if you can’t afford to pay for the service, do not go out to eat or drink(supermarkets sell food too) People in the service industry depend on tips to make a living. If you have a problem with service speak with a manager, do not stiff a waiter just because you didn’t budget to leave a tip.

I came here on a Monday evening. It wasn’t too busy and I sat outside on a brisk late September evening. It was Meatball Monday and I was greeted by the effervescent and delightful Kellsey. She said the meatballs were pretty freaking good(not as good as her mother’s, but a close second). I ordered just one, with my dinner. The meatball was amazing. And huge. And I haven’t eaten meat in a long time so this was a treat. The marinara was flavorful and thick. And the bread was crusty and chewy and delicious… But what I really ordered for my dinner was the Market Pizza. This was grilled veggies, goat cheese, hummus spread on a flatbread dough topped with greens. Really good, really fresh and probably pretty healthy too! Note: the Unilocal!hours indicate that Wheatfields closes at 7, it does not. Also I read a review suggesting the antipasto platter was unacceptable the previous night. Kellsey brought me one that had just been made and it looked delicious(photo posted). I continue to recommend Wheatfields; Food, service and Kellsey.
