This is the worst YMCA in the area. The employees will not acknowledge you unless you are their friend or an attractive young woman. The music is always emo/rock and always being blasted. Despite asking several times for music to be turned down, those running the muscle machines turn it up. This is not a place that supports people that are looking to lose weight or get healthy. It caters to weight lifters only. The owner will allow them to throw medicine balls against the wall and slam weights down. Children are allowed onto machines. Very young children, and kids are allowed to run around the workout with any supervision. I’m considering switching to another gym line because of how poorly managed this gym is. It’s unwelcoming, unsafe, and unpleasant. It’s a shame compared to all of the other YMCA programs in the area.

Just when you thought that it couldn’t possibly get any better, it turns out that there are two… yes, count ‘em…TWO spectacular YMCA’s in the immediate Saratoga Springs region! This Y is technically the Wilton Branch since it’s on the other side of the Northway, and tucked behind the great big Super Wal-Mart on Old Gick Road. But please don’t let that stop you. If you live on the north side of Saratoga Springs, or shop in the area around the Wilton Mall, then you’ll be delighted to learn that there is a second YMCA in the area. This YMCA is also a two-story facility, like the YMCA on West Avenue, and this one also has a large health & wellness center with plenty of cardio machines including treadmills, rowers, stair climbers, and more. There’s also a large free weights room for those who like to bulk it up. You’ll find a full-sized gymnasium and eight indoor tennis courts in the adjacent field house. As with all YMCA’s there are lots of facilities for the little ones including an outdoor playground and KidzCare and Preschool programs. Unlike the West Avenue facility there is no indoor lap pool, but there is plenty of room to enjoy your workout followed by organized sports or just a pick-up game of basketball. It’s great to have this second option in the immediate area, and it certainly made things easy for me to keep my Dad on his 30-minutes or treadmill walking schedule each day. Andddddd we’re walking… C’mon Dad, pick up the pace!

This facility is awesome! It’s free for military! Even if it wasn’t free, I’d sign up to go there. All the machines are clean and in working condition. They also offer lots of fitness classes, personal trainers, and some other crazy machine I don’t have any idea about. Make sure to wipe down all the machines before and after your own use.

Wilton YMCA is in the process of adding on to their facility, its currently a smaller Y, but it is slowly adding on and improving. I do the classes here, if there were more classes I would attend this Y more often, as it is I shuttle between the two other nearby YMCA’s so that I can get a bit of variety in my workouts…
