Of the three sushi places in town, this is the best. Its not the best in pure quality, but its easily accessible, right downtown. Its close by, quick service as well as delivery, and the most affordable of the three for still great quality sushi. Oddly, I prefer it delivered, but its great either way.

the«garlic lime cashew chicken Thai» was mostly onions and a big mess of goppy sweet horrible b rown sauce like the worst hole in the wall place somewhere in Brooklyn. And we waited a half an hour for this awful crap. The sushi was not as bad as this atrocity.

Stopped in for dinner. Had the gyoza(very good) and the spicy maki combo. Reasonably good maki. Liked the spicy California roll the most. The salad that came with the rolls was good with tasty ginger dressing. By no means he best Japanese food I have had, but good enough.

So yummy! We ordered take out so I cannot comment on the dining experience. We ordered the spicy girl, mango lobster, and the dynamite roll. All 3 were incredibly delicious and well rolled. I am looking forward to dining in and trying new sushi soon

I was drinking a scorpion bowl. Used a groupon to pay. While drinking through a straw a fingernail went up the straw into my mouth. I spit it out and could distinctly tell it was a human fingernail. I didn’t want to say anything while I was there so as not to ruin my friend’s meals but it was quite appalling.

Now on day four of recovery after food poisoning here. I’d eaten here several times before and had recommended it to friends — now I find out that some of them have also gotten sick after eating the sushi. We started speculating that maybe they’ve got a broken fridge or something, trying to find an explanation. Maybe the slow business of track off-season means things just aren’t as fresh. This place may be overdue for a health code inspection.

Tonight was my second experience with Izumi. First time was delivery of Chicken Pad Thai and Chicken Lo Mein. Not a fan of the chicken, honestly. Very pale, pasty and tasteless. Just odd. My daughter loves her dish though. The second was pickup of Tofu Pad Thai, Vegetable Lo Mein, Peanut/Avocado Roll, Salmon Roll, and Dragon Eel Roll. Everything was absolutely delicious! The dragon roll was unusually tasty. I think the caviar made the difference. No complaints. I’ll be back and will update my review. I’m expecting the number of stars to improve with a dine-in experience.

I was hoping for a better experience. First impression — the interior is nice and it’s generally clean… but there was a hair(not mine… wrong color…) on one of the pages of my menu. Not a great start. There was also barely any liquid soap in the bathroom. I’m a bit of a germaphobe… I like my soap… and I like it when restaurants have it readily available for the folks that work there(and the patrons). Here’s the good — the people that work there are super nice and the food was prepared fairly quickly. Here’s the meh… The green tea was tasty but not hot enough. The sushi(assorted pieces and 2 rolls) was just OK. I liked the size of the rolls — they are bite size and not overly packed with rice like some other sushi places. The pieces of(nigiri) sushi were also bite size(a bit smaller than I’m used to but still a nice size) — but a few of the pieces were a bit dry and not very flavorful. The sushi menu is pretty extensive — but many of the choices have tempura(fried) ingredients along with sauces, cream cheese… etc.(more americanized stuff). I’m more of a purist… but if you like this style of sushi, you should give it a shot(as I’m guessing it might be better than the simple stuff). I might go back and try a cooked dish; not sure that I’d go back for sushi. The location is great… not quite in the middle of town but just across the street from the library.

I’ve been to this place a million times since it turned over a couple of years ago. Sushi wise, I haven’t always been the biggest fan. They do have clean cut rolls but they somewhat lack flavor on some level. I always come back for the General Tso’ Chicken though. I would have to say it is probably the best chinese cuisine in town! It is also a great place to go with a large group of friends for some quick shots or sake bombs and is right nearby Caroline St.

The Sushi here was really good… and I eat a lot of sushi :) I always judge my sushi on a few factors: size of roll — not too big, easily a one bite rice packing — did not fall apart when dipped into the soy and wasabi flavor — spot on, really tasty, not fishy freshness — all the toppings were fresh and deicious I would go back again

My go to Sushi delivery in Saratoga Springs. This is actually the only sushi place I would be willing to spend my money on in Saratoga with the exception of Duo which I have yet to try. They take a while to deliver but the sushi is always fresh and one can just not refuse the epicness of their crab rangoons! Definitely the best Sushi in downtown Saratoga Springs.

I ordered chicken pad Thai, and it was horrible. It had no flavor and the texture was off, it was mushy. The chicken was also a bit odd. It didn’t seem like sliced chicken breast or anything like that. The menu said it was spicy and I would say it was mild at best. My wife ordered the California roll which was very small. I will say that the clear soup was decent. I don’t think I’ll be back!

We went here for dinner on a Saturday after the races. The service was great and there was no wait for 9 of us. The fried cheesecake was amazing too!

Looked for a family lunch spot for Father’s Day on our way back to Manhattan after our weekend at Lake George. We wanted a place in town so good Unilocal reviews influenced our decision to come here. From beginning to end our experience was pleasant from the free parking lot designated for the restaurant, to being able to check in via Unilocal and get a 10% discount. It helped that our party of 8(which included 2 toddlers and an infant) were the only ones there at the time. We had the choice to eat on their outdoor patio but we preferred the air conditioning inside. The décor may appear dark, but trendy(perhaps a cool place for the young and hip), and a reminder of our own youth, but the broad daylight outside shined in our presence for our celebration. There is always skepticism when a restaurant has a multi ethnic asian menu; in this case Japanese, Chinese, and Thai. We all ordered Japanese on this visit. Our sashimi for 2 was served on a boat platter so that was entertaining for the kids, and we thought the quality was on par, including the sushi rolls. And a glass of Sake is always a good complement to eating raw fish. The texture of the Izumi fried rice was a little soggy, but overall, there are many choices to choose from so you will just have to try it yourself.

There is a bad smell in the restaurant and the sushi is like something I would buy out of a supermarket

Most consistent fusion /sushi restaurant in Saratoga hands down. I’ve been a regular customer here since they opened and I have yet to receive anything of questionable freshness or quantity. I frequently dine in and take out items across the entire menu … This place has yet to let me down. The last time I went to sushi Thai on phila I included Toro with my order and not only was it a questionable cut but it was SPOILED. At Izumi if they are out of Toro/Uni or anything less common they will tell you they’re out instead of trying to slip a lousy cut on to your plate. Honestly the only thing I’ve ever had here I wasn’t terribly keen on was the general tsos… But the unagi don, curry, pad see ew, veg tempura etc. are all winners. If you are looking for better fish you definitely have to go to Albany. @ Larry the first experience I remember with Izumi was the Spicy Maki combo which is still one of my favorite take-out selections that I continue to enjoy to this day! ;) Thank you for your input Larry.

I ate here as part of my Upstate Sushi tour, in which I order the basic sushi lunch plus a side of saba(mackerel pickled with rice vinegar) to see what the kitchen can do with a custom order. The quality was A-OK with my only complaint being that the sushi pieces were a bit on the small side and the fish was a little drier and at a slightly higher temperature than I like. The saba was especially good though I would have liked a larger portion. The prices, however, were high. $ 12 for the 6-piece plus California roll, and $ 2.50 for a single piece of saba sushi(other places charge $ 3.50−4 for TWO) and I can’t see a justification other than the downtown location. I find the atmosphere at Izumi a bit oppressive – dark wood and high-sided dark banquettes lining the walls. It used to be a steak house and was turned into an Asian place a couple owners back with minimal redecorating. The service was quick and pleasant and I noticed they had a $ 7.50 lunch special which would be a much better deal. But if you insist on sushi and want to eat downtown, I’d recommend you go around the corner to Sushi Thai on Phila Street.

Tucked down on a narrow side street in downtown Saratoga Springs you’ll find Izumi Sushi which is directly across the street from the Saratoga Springs library, and the Icehouse. This section of town seems to be more populated with bars than with restaurants, but there are a couple of good finds if you look around. Izumi is on Putnam Street, down the hill from Rte. 9 /Broadway which is the main drag through Saratoga Springs. It’s about midway between the Saratoga Springs Police station and the Carousel in Congress Park, and a few doors down from Gaffney’s. This location has been a couple of different restaurants over the years, but the sushi /Asian combo seems popular with the locals and the students from Skidmore College. There are some parking spaces along the road, but you might be forced to park in one of the nearby City lots and just hoof it back to the restaurant. There’s a large outdoor patio area under the bright blue awning, and a ground-floor level bar which is popular later in the evenings. Up a flight of stairs and you’ll be inside the main restaurant. I thought that the place was a bit dark inside, and it was certainly empty for lunch time. The menu has a nice mix of traditional sushi, sashimi and rolls, along with Asian noodle dishes, fried rice, Hibachi-grilled meats, tempura, and teriyaki entrées. They even have some very traditional Chinese /Asian dinner entrée options. I ordered the Yellowtail Jalapeño appetizer which was thin-sliced pieces of yellowtail tuna drizzled with Ponzu sauce, and each piece was decorated with a slice of jalapeño pepper and some scallions. To that I added two of their specialty rolls. The Pepper Tuna roll which was tuna and asparagus topped with seared pepper tuna and spicy mayo, and topped with crunchies. And finally the Scorpion roll which was fried oysters and shrimp tempura topped with spicy tuna, eel, avocado slices, and imitation crabmeat. Both rolls were delicious, and very unique. Al in all it was a nice meal, though a bit pricier than what I’m used to back in Florida. Nonetheless Izumi is a nice sushi restaurant, and hopefully a big hit in Saratoga.

First off if you check in while you dine here you get a coupons for 10%. We came here on a Friday afternoon. My bridesmaid, her boyfriend, my fiancée and I. There was no wait and we sat on the patio for lunch. I ordered the special 3 sushi rolls for $ 16. I cant remember the exact price but it was a great deal. I thought the sushi was just okay but I have very high standards. Where I live now there are many more options for rolls, and sushi places. My bridesmaid thought her rolls very good. My fiancée ordered the tempura shrimp and the batter was okay, we have had better. My friends boyfriend ordered general saos chicken and thought that was good. He ordered it with brown rice which looks just like coco puffs. The service was average. We had to ask for soy sauce and cups for our sushi which they brought right out. I enjoyed the ambience of the bar and restaurant. It i located right next to the library in the heart of downtown Saratoga.
