Food: 4, Service: 1. It makes me so sad to give Harvest & Hearth only two stars… we’ve enjoyed the pizza and salad for a few years, and they’re still really good, but tonight the service was worse than the usual mediocre. After being seated we watched waitress coming and going around us without giving us a glance & waited a good 10 minutes without any service until the owner happened by and inquired if we had been waited on. He took our beer orders and brought them to us, and then we continued to wait, menus set aside clearly(we never even had to look at them since we always get an epiphany and a salad). OK, finally ordered & got our food without any big wait, but that was it — our waitress seemed done with us. About halfway through he pizza, my BF wanted another beer, but our waitress was talking to a party that was leaving(that she clearly knew) for about 10 minutes, completely oblivious to her tables. Once we finally ordered the beer, she vanished again for another 10 minutes, returning to the dining room with a tray of drinks — was one ours? Nope. She forgot all about it. By this time, the rests of our pizza was cold, and we were ready to go. Left with a bad taste in our mouths after being treated like afterthoughts instead of customers.

Incredible pizza made in an open wood stove! It’s super cool to watch and super tasty to eat. The atmosphere of the place is surprisingly classy compared to the distinctly unflattering outside. This place is the hidden gem to end all hidden gems!

I love this place! They have the best pizza in Saratoga! The oven they fire the pizza in definitely does wonders. You can see the oven in the restuarant and the chefs making the pizza. We got a large of the BBQ Chicken pizza and a small of the Mushroom pizza with a side of the tomato sauce! The BBQ Chicken was definitely the better of the two. When we each took our first bite, we were speechless. The smokiness from the wood was throughout the pizza and it was delicious! The Mushroom pizza was also very good, since there is no sauce on it, dipping it in the tomato sauce made it even better for me, but my boyfriend thought it didn’t need it. Overall, definitely a place to try if you’re in the area! I will be back for more soon!

Lucky for me, they have two sizes of pizza, large and small. The small is quite small, and for my appetite it’s just a bit too small, but for most it should be enough. I say I’m lucky because I came with my wife and daughter, and each of us ordered our own small pizza. That meant I got to try three different pizzas. I had a slice of my wife’s «Epiphany», and a slice of my daughter’s plain cheese, listed on the menu as «Hearth House». For myself, I ordered the special of the night, a pizza that was topped with cheese, diced tomato, basil, and hot capicola. All three pizzas were delicious. My wife loved her Epiphany. My daughter’s cheese pizza similarly was tasty. My pizza was good as well, though I would’ve like more heat from the capicola, it wasn’t that spicy. They top the pizzas with a mix of mozz and asiago, and it works. It’s just a little salty, which I liked, and flavorful. That’s important to know, because they put grated parm on the tables, which I often use for adding an extra salt hit to pizza, but it’s not needed here. The crust is what matters most, and H&H’s crust is good. It’s a light, chewy, and flavorful crust, and my pizza thankfully, had a good amount of char on it. There were also some small bubbles scattered about the crusts of our three pizzas. We also had a brownie a la mode for dessert, which my daughter asked for them to leave off the whipped cream to my dismay. The three of us tore into that gooey, warm brownie like three hungry wolves. It was quite good, and the ice cream was of good quality too. I came away impressed with Harvest and Hearth. These guys are making a very respectable pizza. They’re way out on the edge of town, but their pizza is definitely worth the trip. I’m looking forward to getting back at some point and trying more of their pizzas.

Harvest and Hearth blew me away. In Saratoga springs for the night and searched«organic pizza» with low expectations. This lakeside gem popped up! I had the personal size mushroom pizza– the perfect size for one person. More importantly, it was the best textured crust on any pizza I’ve ever had! Thin with both a nice chew and a delicate crisp on the bottom, something probably only a wood oven can achieve. You can certainly taste the quality in the organic ingredients. The mid-winter ambiance was perfect with classic Christmas music, and you dine right among their glorious wood fire pizza oven. Wait staff was personable and friendly, and I will most certainly be back next time I’m in town.

5 stars for food, 2 – 3 stars for service, average of 4 stars. food: 2 thumbs up for having gluten free pizza and many organic options. we tried two different types of pizza(very small, GF size is definitely for 1 person or 2 very light eaters) and salad of the day. service: when we walked in we asked to sit near the windows. this is a restaurant right on the creek and half of the reason we wanted to come here was to enjoy that ambiance. hostess heard our question, said ok, then tried to sit us way back near the pizza ovens. we again asked, how about one of the many open tables in that direction. she got huffy, and sat us there. not sure what the drama was about. the server we had at our table was generally fine. great concept, great ambiance, just needs some work on staff training.

The amazing oven, the sun set on the river, the farm look and the clean crisp open space in this location, just lovely. The pizza is fresh and wholesome. The ice cream root beer’s oh my. The dressing on poppies salad is the best kept secret in saratoga! The combo of goat cheese, pears and real healthy greens simply a delight. My family belly laughed in happy times in our large table as we smelt the delicious smell of farm fresh hot out of the cob style oven pizza. The fire was amazing to watch. The children were in awe of real folks making real food. There are no televisions just time with family or friends. We topped it off with all three of their deserts. We had ice cream(for our gluten free er s) apple pie and brownie pie. Oh my. Two of us are gluten free so we got two personal pizzas and they come in any kind. While they are all amazing our favorite is the BBQ one. Go to Harvest in Hearth, it’s an experience for sure and for us, in so many ways, better than staying in town. Get there early too.

This casually elegant restaurant hugs the shores of Fish Creek, serving up delectable wood fire artisan pizzas in a relaxed, rustic-inspired atmosphere that’s great for groups. Ideally located right next to the popular and fabulous Kayak Shack, this restaurant is perfect for pre/post-paddle meals or just for enjoying the view overlooking the creek from the bar or deck. It’s a very popular place that sometimes has a wait, but patrons can grab a beer and meander outside to the level lawn, beach, or hammocks until their table is ready. Parking is tight, but once you’re inside, the place is surprisingly big. The pizza oven is in plain view to your left(you can watch them being made), and the ambiance should be noted: beautiful wide plank floors, high ceilings, dark wood finishes and walls of windows overlooking the water. As for the pizza, it’s freaking fantastic. Absolutely delicious. You can order a full size or a personal size; I recommend the personal because the price per person works out to be the same and then you can have a variety if your table likes to mix and match. They use many organic, whole foods, specialty cheeses, and have a creative menu that’s unique, but not too offbeat. The crust is thin and crispy, and the portion sizes are just perfect. You probably won’t have leftovers, but you won’t leave feeling like the Pillsbury Doughboy either. I had the BBQ, my mom the mushroom, and her roommate the pepperoni. We all gobbled them up before remembering to take photos, unfortunately. I definitely recommend, just not if you are in a rush. Best to avoid peak dinner times and go earlier or later if you can. But should not be missed.

What a gem! Having just moved to the area, we decided to give this place a try after searching on Unilocal.Glad we did – the pizza is great and my wife loved the Mamie’s poppy salad. My wife, being gluten free, claims this is the best gluten free dough she’s ever had. Will definitely be back!

We went to Health and Harvest for dinner last night and left without eating Tuesday is a dark day at the track and the restaurant wasn’t overly busy. When we arrived we waited at the hostess desk for about 5 minutes, finally the owner came over and we were told that there would be a 20 minute or less wait for a table. We went to the bar to get a drink and«no Bartender». Behind the bar was packed with boxes and finally one bartender came and took our order. She seemed puled in many directions, not only was she tending bar but she was waiting the tables in the bar area as well which meant service at the bar was very slow. We sat at the bar for over 40 minutes noticing in the dining room that there were 5 empty tables waiting to be bused and set for new diners. After 10 minutes of watching empty tables and not being seated we decided to leave. When we went to turn in our pager there was another customer at the hostess desk also very upset that they had been waiting over 40 minutes. We are local residents and have eaten at Health & Harvest many times, the food is excellent however I have to say that service is not their strong suit but last night was beyond slow. It is obvious that they are understaffed. I can only imagine what it is like when the track is open. I hate to say it but if something doesn’t change with the service customers won’t come back. When i go out to eat service is a huge part of the dining experience. It doesn’t matter how good the food is if the service is poor the whole dining experience is bad.

Great pizza and excellent salads in a good setting and on the river. Service is ok and wine is good if they have stock of what is on the menu usually they don’t but its ok anyway.

We Try to get here every time we our in Saratoga. Love the soups, butternut squash pear, or carrot ginger. Usually the choices are season driven. Love the shrooms pizza as well as the various salads. Everything is fresh and delicious. The pizza is not your NYC pizza nor is it Supposed to be. Always interesting special pizzas, salads and deserts Just don’t drink the water, from a well and very rotten egg sulphur smell and taste. The deserts are delicious as well ! Always fresh and they always use local ingredients . Watching the pizza being made in a round brick oven is fun. Nice open seating always fun and yummy!

I first came here a few years ago, enjoyed everything Harvest and Hearth had to offer(plus the view!), and then promptly forgot the name of the establishment AND where it was located(being new to the area), so never came back. Until last week. I finally remembered the name of the place, so I took my boyfriend here on date night. The open floor-plan is okay, and the chairs aren’t super comfy. Also, it tends to get kind of noisy in the dining room. However, I like being able to see where the food is made. Prices are super reasonable, which is great when you’re on a bit of a budget. And, the food is super high-quality. We try to eat local, seasonal, and organic as often as possible, and H&H makes it pretty easy. Excellent beer and wine selection. But what got me was all their gluten-free options. I was super impressed. A few delicious ciders as well as a few gluten-free beers. Additionally, they serve a VERY tasty gluten-free pizza. My one gripe is that g-f pizzas only come in personal size. We haven’t tried a flavor yet we didn’t like. Salads are also delicious. Service is spotty. A few times we have waited a while inside the front door before we were greeted and seated; once we had very fast service and another time our server was very inattentive. All in all, though, this is certainly a place we will be frequenting.

My wife and I are wood fired pizza fans from AZ. This place blows away anything we have ever found there! Can’t find one thing to criticize! Great craft draft beer, wine, great salads, perfect pizza, great atmosphere, and good service! Giant wood oven is in the middle of the dining room. Love this place!

Pros and cons here people. Pros: open, bright, clean dining room with plenty of space and a view of the water. Feels like summer for sure when you’re staring at a shed that says kayaks for rent. Food is fresh, presentation is thoughtful and the draft beer selection is excellent. The produce in the salad was super fresh and the pizzas… well, of course they’re delicious. The cons: brusque wait staff who acted like we disturbed them during a hot stone massage when we asked for more dressing. Which leads us to the next con. Stingy anyone? One tablespoon of dressing for a big salad for two? Mozzarella running out in the kitchen so go light on our pie? And on a final note? The nasty pants waitress complained about«the little white fluffy dog» outside. Hey that’s me! Rocco P! I’m outta here!

Whether it’s after a long day on the lake or a crisp winter night, Harvest & Hearth is a great place. The menu is prepared with an eye for local, fresh, responsibly produced ingredients and it shows. The poppy salad is a favorite — greens with pears, nuts, cranberries, and goat cheese topped by a balanced poppy seed dressing. Picking a pizza can be a challenge as I have yet to find one I didn’t love. The crust is thin but not cracker-crisp. The beer and wine list is well done with the taps dominated by regional craft selections.
