I love Green Conscience! My husband and I have chemical sensitivities and allergies so we stop by every now and then for small things. We currently rent and do not own a home to do and use all their fabulous safer and green products but I hope to someday. They will be our one stop shop once we do! They have amazing products, the best and safest around in this area, and the customer service has always been so nice to us. They are informative, know what they are talking about and genuinely care and believe in what they do and the environment inside and out of homes. We’ve shared our stories about how and why and I have bought other products here — they’ve all been great. I recommend them to all my friends. Thanks for being there!

As a person with a lot of allergies & as an avid environmentalist, I can say that Karen has hit the nail on the head here. Shopping at Green Conscience will literally help you sleep better at night, not just in knowing that you’re doing the right thing for the environment, but because she sells the most allergen reducing beds/bedding around & non-toxic paints. If you care about the environment, your health or shopping local, you better shop here.

As an interior designer, Green Conscience is my first resource for my clients! Karen is a very hands on owner and educates me on all products that I offer to my clients. They offer unique flooring options that have made my clients very happy… and healthy! Karen is a joy to work with and I would highly recommend her store!

December 2009 — update to my earlier post. I chose PaperStone countertops. They are made of recycled office paper, and compressed with a water-based cashew nut resin. The price was extremely competitive — not as inexpensive as laminate, but much cheaper than granite and even less expensive than materials such as Caesarstone which are promoted as greener alternatives. The countertops look great, the fabricater/installer who did the work(Green Conscience sells the countertops but contracts with fabricators for the install) were professional in every way. I couldn’t be happier. I ended up buying interior house paint from Green Conscience too. They sell Mythic Paints, which are no-VOC. Low– and no-VOC paints are more expensive than regular paint(which emit fumes known as volatile organic compounds). But Mythic is at the upper-middle end of the cost spectrum, and definitely not the highest. Their coverage is very good, and my painter was very satisfied with its performance. Six months ago, I bought an old house in Saratoga Springs. The house needed a lot of renovation, as it had been neglected for a few decades. I care about the environment, I want to use green products. It’s been difficult to find businesses that offer green products for home renovation in the capital district area. One of the products that I was very interested in was green countertops — using recycled materials, emitting no noxious fumes. I had about given up when I read an article in the local paper about Green Conscience. They are a local Saratoga Business. They’re selling green building and decorating products for the home — paints, countertops, rugs, as well as items like Bio Bags and stainless steel water bottles. I was ecstatic to read about this business because I have contacted a number of companies trying to get information and pricing on «green» countertops. And, despite many, many tries, I haven’t been able to find businesses in the capital district that are offering these products. Today, I stopped in. They carry two brands of recycled paper countertops(yes — really, I’ve researched them and they’re incredible), recycled glass countertops, non-toxic paints, and a number of other interesting, healthy products. They were extremely helpful, friendly and knowledgeable, and I’m looking forward to getting the quotes I requested for the countertops. They’re new, eager to please, and they’re offering quite a few interesting, new products. I say, go see them.
