Love this place!!! Staff is always so friendly! Food has also always been amazing! I love there scallops and I usually don’t like scallops! There seafood is great and I’m so glad I stopped in one day. Been going back ever since

This was my first time at Veg. I had their veggie burger, on the advice of my waitress. It came smothered in caramelized onions and was messy but delicious.

I am a vegetarian and I love going to this restaurant with my family when I am in the area. They have great food and options for vegans, vegetarians and pescatarians.

I would be giving this place 5 stars but I’m very dissapointed that this place calls it’s self veg and they now not only also serve fish and other sea animals but now are serving bacon and other meats.

Such a great restaurant! So many options and were really attentive to food allergies. Only reason not giving 5 stars is because they need more than 1 waitress!

So wanted to like this place but left feeling disappointed and ripped off. I have worked in the restaurant industry all my adult life and know a thing or two about customer service and food. First off, Veg was definitely lacking in any type of warm welcoming feeling. Upon entering restaurant we were asked if we had reservations, which we didn’t, so immediately felt we were not welcomed or even intruding. Our server had a very cool, almost insulting personality. Our meals were ridiculously small and overpriced. We ordered the vegan special without asking the price-big mistake. Nothing creative or especially tasty, and the portion size was outright laughable! All for $ 16.99! Also some bread would have been nice, for that price. What a rip off. As for dessert, same scenario. Key Lime cheesecake was bite size at $ 6.99– add some bad overpriced wine and you have yourself a very sad date night. Being vegan, and wanting to support the vegan industry, made it hard to write this review, but in all honesty there has to be a way to have good healthy vegan food available without feeling like you were completely ripped off. This is not at all a swanky place, not by service, food, location, décor etc. the prices are not justified.

I was really expecting more since the name says«veg.» The waitress expressed that the vegan meal was the most tasteful and layered with these fine ingredients quinoa, chick pea, tomato and what ever else. The meal tasted like tomato sauce with a lot of pepper, I had heart burn the entire night. I honestly expected more the only savior of the evening was a tiny piece of chocolate cheesecake that could be eaten in one bite. Really over price meal for what you got and I am not impressed at all perhaps if I were a meat eater it might be better . I guess if I owned this restaurant I would hire a vegan chef with good taste buds or change the name . Also on my bill other items were added to my check that I didn’t even eat. Thank God I check the bill always.

A friend picked this for a Friday ladies lunch group. There were 5 of us and all walked away satisfied with a good or great lunch. I had the«Famous» Veg burger and it was delish! Great taste that burger, with caramelized onions, lettuce, Tomato and aioli sauce. The bread was great too. Coleslaw for a side that was great too! Fish tacos looked good as did the fish of the day. Lots of oohs and ahhs over the salted caramel cheesecake. Gluten free options were plentiful.

A nice find for some vegetarian eats. They have a menu that’s a mixture of seafood and vegetarian items. Vegan options are clearly labeled, including dishes that could be made vegan. Gluten free options are also available. They will also be offering breakfast seven days a week, likely beginning by the time you read this review(Sunday, November 1st). I came here for a quick lunch and I was quickly greeted, while offered to sit at any small table of my choice. The seating area is relatively small, so it wasn’t too hard to just pick a place and sit down. I started with a white peach sangria and let me tell you, it was outstanding. Not only was it delicious, but it was strong and served in a large glass. A great deal for $ 6. For lunch, I ordered the BBQ tofu sandwich, which was a special for the day. The sandwich itself was lackluster, as the tofu seemed like it was straight out of the container. They left off coleslaw since it was not vegan. Otherwise, the bread was good and the sauce was nice and tangy. The only other things on it were avocado and a few small pieces of lettuce. After a mixed start(great drink, so-so sandwich), I finished off with the vegan fudge. The dark chocolate and peanut butter fudge was spot on. I doubt that a non-vegan would notice the difference. Overall, the food and drinks here are very reasonably priced. Service was pleasant and they are very accommodating to vegan diets. My waitress made sure to double-check that I was vegan and I overheard other servers asking the same thing to patrons. It’s nice to know that the restaurant is observant and wants to get your dietary needs right. The only thing that is a bit disappointing would be the somewhat limited vegan options, which in most cases, are not terribly creative or exciting. They also do not offer any vegan cheese, which heavily limits options and creativity with the dishes. I will be back the next time I vacation in the area.

This is a cute little hidden gem in Gulf Gate! We went here for date night last night. I’m recently gluten-free, and there was a great little gluten free menu full of awesome options. We split both the Portobello Volcano and the Scallops, which were a special. The scallops were amazing, and the Portobello Volcano was pretty good too. We had a raspberry chocolate thing for dessert, which was the best part! Highly recommend! Especially if you’re pescatarian or gluten free.

OMG! So good! My first trip here. I had the Mushroom Volcano. I think I could eat one of those every day for a month. LOL Delicious! So many things on the menu were tempting me I could not decide. I had to get the servers to help me pick something. Vegetables were cooked perfectly. Everyone was super nice. It was a very clean restaurant. It smelled wonderful. They said they’re going to start breakfast in November 2. Thank you for a wonderful dinner!

My vegan hubby didn’t enjoy his portobello volcano at all. I had the Maine scallop. Scallops were good, but the veggie on the side tasted like poached frozen veggie. My son had the Mac and cheese. He didn’t like it but had to eat it cuz he was hungry. Very disappointed especially consider the good reviews…

Chopped Kale Salad with beets, carrots avocado, sprouts & sunflower seeds was fresh, delicious and plentiful. I’m not walking away hungry and would come back and order it again. Atmosphere is simple and comfortable if you are eating solo. I was thinking that the one long full mirror wall would be more desirable and cozy if it had art on it. It’s odd looking up and seeing everyone’s faces and heads in it. The bread was nothing special. However the butter was nice and soft. I will definitely return and try another entrée. Service was polite and kind.

Excellent quality every time. I don’t usually eat out often, but when I do, I love going to Veg. They have sustainable selected fish that is both delicious and unique with a full menu that my vegan girlfriend also enjoys. I usually always go for the special, and I am never let down.

Maybe I didn’t fit the bill of the average clientele but instead of being asked to find a seat I was looked at like I walked into the wrong place. I suggested they show me a menu. I felt like maybe I would have been shown a seat if I had granola falling out minivan or sweat covered yoga pants. For a vegetarian focused place, I was surprised to see it was mainly salads, fish, and a veggie burger. No mock meats, or creative lookalike dishes made vegan. The thing is, I can get a salad or fish almost anywhere and many restaurants accommodate a gluten free diet, many at less than half the price.

It’s rare to find a restaurant that easily puts together meals that are vegetarian AND gluten-free, and Veg did not disappoint! I enjoyed a beautiful and hearty signature salad that was fresh and left me full. My daughter ordered the portabello volcano, and it looked incredible. My husband, neither vegetarian or gluten-free, had the fish tacos and was happy with the dish. I was ecstatic to find they serve many delicious gluten-free, raw, and vegan desserts — options I have otherwise given up on in any restaurant. The petite chèvre cheesecake was a delicious(and perfectly tiny) way to end the meal. I had to try my daughter’s gluten-free peanut butter cheesecake too(I HADTO, you guys) and I loved it, though you could definitely tell the crust was gluten-free. Damn gluten is useful in baking, so I get it. Overall a happy dining experience. A bit pricey on some of the vegetarian dishes, but I’d go back for the many fresh options available.

The food was ok, but the open kitchen seems a bad plan when you’re using sub-par ingredients(Publix brand ice cream in a big ten gallon container). The restaurant is in a strip mall and not terribly inviting from the outside. Inside the staff seemed put-off that we had 3 kids with us who weren’t familiar with a lot of the menu items. They did eventually bring us a kids menu, when we asked for it, but it seems that should have at least been offered up front. I’d definitely look for other vegetarian options in the area before returning here.

A vegetarian & seafood restaurant is a contradiction. You can’t be a vegetarian restaurant if you serve flesh of any kind. Finito! That said, I get what they mean, but calling a place where most diners come to eat fish and even smells kind of fishy ‘Veg’ is somewhat misleading to those of us who *actually* really are veg. I’ve been to Veg twice now and I will continue to go most of the time when I’m in Sarasota, because they at least understand what a vegan is and are open for dinner, but the dishes lack inspiration. The risotto was not very good and the burgers and wraps were blandish. The ambiance and décor is very country cottage down homey and so is the service. Think being called«Hun». Lots of room for improvement, but it’s possible that Sarasota’s population isn’t ready for that. They certainly aren’t ready for an entirely vegetarian or vegan restaurant! The vegan chocolate fudge is my favourite consistent thing here and coconut cream pie was a hot.
