The room looked pretty clean at first sight, but after pulling back the sheets to tuck in my son, I noticed a small curly black hair and red spots which I assumed were just stains that wouldn’t come out in the wash. The top sheet had this disgusting crusty substance pictured on it. The other bed appeared clean.(connecting rooms). We called down to the office for clean sheets and a man in baggy street clothes with a flat brimmed hat brought us clean sheets. Will not be staying in another residence inn after this experience. I hope they see this review and have a talk with the housekeeping employees.

This review is in reference to their Customer Service and Management Team. My boss and the CEO of our organization is a Platinum Member who travels about 39⁄52 weeks a year always staying in various Marriotts. With his extremely demanding and ever changing schedule, it is sometimes hard to keep a solid schedule for him. I spoke to two nice gentlemen Jack and Dan who were both very helpful in my attempts to accommodate his last minute schedule change. 5 Stars for Team Residence Inn Sarasota! I appreciate you! I’ll be keeping you on his preferred location list! Many Thanks!

This is a really nice Residence Inn. It is right across the street from the Sarasota Airport, but I never heard any planes or other airport noise. It’s on a main road, but sits way back and is surrounded by pretty foliage. No noise issues at all! Before I go on, let me say this. I LOVE that I had a recycle bin in my room. Love it. I don’t understand why hotels aren’t all forced to offer recycling options. My bin was in the closet by the bathroom, and I didn’t understand why it was there; but, I don’t care — as long as there’s a recycle bin, I’m happy with whereever it is! Pat on the back to this Residence Inn! Thom checked me in and he was SO nice. SO nice. My suite on the 3rd floor was perfect. Super clean, comfortable, and all the comforts of home: Full kitchen, dining area, living area, and a work desk. The bedroom with a very firm comfortable bed was separate. The wi-fi is free and fantastic. There’s plenty of free parking. And the full breakfast buffet in the morning is also complimentary. On a couple weeknights, the serve a small evening meal — which is really nice. It’s not on the weekends, tho. The breakfast /social area is very well-kept and clean. All the staff at the front desk were friendly and helpful. I saw several of them during my stay, and each one was nicer than the next. Good location, but not within walking distance of anything. A short drive down the street takes you to every shop, restaurant and store you could imagine. A drive to the west takes you to the Ringling Museum, and a little further takes you across the bay to St. Armands. Downtown Sarasota is just a few minutes away. It was a perfect location for me. If you are a sunset-watcher, be sure to go to Lido Beach(just past St. Armands). It’s about a 10 to 15 minute drive, and you get a spectacular sunset from that beach. That beach is also super-clean with very, very white sand — so pretty. There’s a very nice laundry room on the second floor. It is very clean and kept in tip-top shape. There are a couple washers, and several dryers. It’s coin operated and there’s even a nice table to fold your clothes. I have to say, this hotel is very clean. At 6:30 p.m., there was a housekeeping lady vacuuming the hallways and tidying up. I highly recommend staying here. You won’t be sorry.

A couple of months ago, I ended up coming into town at the last minute for a poetry festival. Even though I was tempted to book a hotel closer to the water, the great price for this ended up winning out($ 63+tax on priceline), and I’m so glad that it did. The room was huge, with a full kitchen, adorable little sitting area with a chaise, and a TV that swiveled 180 degrees so it could face the bed or the sitting area. The night I got in, I was pretty tired and was trying to figure out whether I could bring myself to leave for dinner. That’s when I found… popcorn! Sitting right there on the table next to the complimentary coffee and tea. Not exactly a luxury amenity, but so so appreciated. Everything was very clean, the staff was friendly, and I had no problems at all in my two nights there(a weekend). The morning I left, I was sitting in my car(after a gorgeous trip to the beach) plugging in an address to my GPS, when I looked up and saw a huge white bird standing in front of my car. For over a minute, I watched it carefully. I had just walked there, rolling my suitcase loudly over the sidewalk. Maybe it was fake? Finally it moved ever so slightly, and I realized it was a real egret. I got out of the car and came up for a picture. The perfect send-off after a perfect weekend.

We stayed at the Residence Inn for 2 nights middle November. We rented a suite, two bedrooms 2 baths and livingroom/kitchen.While the suite was spacious the décor was tired .The tvs were the old tube types that everyone is throwing out, no flat panel here. Free breakfast was offered, but it was bad, the eggs were overcooked and dry, wound up throwing it out and just having coffee. We were here for a family reunion and we were going to the beach that day so my daughter left her wallet on the kitchen table and placed a do not disturb tag outside. When we came back we noticed the wallet was gone with over $ 100 and credit cards. We called management and the police. The manager came to our room with head of housekeeping they searched the room thoroughly, every draw etc .The policewoman that showed up took the details as I went downstairs to talk to the manager. To avoid embarassment I suggested we go into her office .As I started to discuss who had access to our room with the plastic key, the manager insisted we call the policewoman be present .I could see they were circling the wagons. While I spoke calmly, the policewoman warned me that the manager could instanly order me to leave the hotel which would subject me to a trespassing charge(are you listening Marriot?) being threatened to be kicked out of hotel after we had prepaid the room only because I was questioning how an employee with a key could enter our room with a do not disturb tag on the door. We went out that evening, and next morning as we packed the wallet had mysteriously reappeared with everything intact in a drawer. Now 5 people had checked every draw and paper basket in the unit, the placing of the wallet in a draw was made to look like it was there all the time and that we just had missed it. I would have been much happier if the manager had said, we found who took your wallet and we are sorry, and that person will be disaplined .But no management, let us slink out of this hotel like thieves in the night, and like we were at fault. I think Marriot needs to vett the people they hire as managers, this manager failed miserably, she was unfriendly, and a total failure at public relationships. The end result is I will never stay at a Marriot again .I have been treated better at a B&B Residence Inn ruined our mini vacation, and although we got our wallet with our money back, having to cancel our credit cards was a pain. Marriot need to shake up management here, they just don’t know how to handle people.

We were going to stay at another hotel, which was on the water, but at the last minute we decided to stay here instead. This was our first trip with our 17-month old son, and we decided that we needed more than one room, so we stayed here and got one of the suites. Check-in was fast, and our room was nice enough. We had a stove with 2 burners, lots of pots and pans and utensils, plates, glasses, even wine glasses. We had a table with 2 chairs, a couch, a chair and a tv, then your typical bedroom/bathroom. This place is super-close to the airport, which I thought would be a problem, but we hardly ever heard the planes. I slept better in that bed than I do in my own! The staff were friendly. My only gripe would be to have a better breakfast, but I would still stay here again.
