The restaurant was highly recommended by friends who enjoy fine dining so I was expecting a treat. Went with a party of four, had wine, appetizers and main dishes. The atmosphere was lovely. Small, but plenty of room for dinners to feel comfortable. The waiters timing was off. Too quick to try and take drink order and then too quick to try and get us to order. Restaurant was empty at the time. The dishes were mediocre at best. Liver and onions were bland and veal had little taste. No vegetables with meat course and that is just stingy. Had to ask for more bread and waiter forgot to bring dessert menu when asked. Too expensive for this type of meal and service. Hope they up their game.

Really enjoyed an evening here. Great downtown location. Atmosphere was perfect. Full bar. Tables nicely space. Great service with a friendly hello as we walked in. Food was very good and the waiter very knowledgable on the preparation. Will definitely return!

We went back for a yet another visit to Divinos yesterday with two other couples and thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The food was prepared perfectly the portions were excellent and the service could not have been better. This is a gem of a restaurant in downtown Sarasota with no rushing and a very pleasant and quiet atmosphere. Prices were quite reasonable and the wine list is excellent with wide choices to go with everything on the menu. The desserts are perfect for sharing and the overall experience was typical earlier visits — quite enjoyable and memorable.

Not the best food I’ve had, but I’m willing to give it another chance. I had the eggplant parmesan that was sitting in a lot of oil, topped with unmelted cheese and layered with tons of warm almost melted cheese but not enough eggplant. I will post a pic eventually. My friend had a sandwich and a salad that looked fresh though. The balsamic dressing on the side looked like mostly oil with a small amount of balsamic sitting at the bottom. Redeeming quality was the charming courtyard for outdoor dining. It’s a little piece of privacy and quaintness in the downtown area.

I’ve eaten here two times. Once I had lunch and the other time I had dinner. Both times were great and the service was wonderful. I’m often impressed with the amount of Italian restaurants Sarasota offers… some are good, some bad and some awesome. This one is awesome. I would have given it more stars but the atmosphere is not my style. It’s an older crowd and kinda quite. However, the food is top notch and the service is wonderful and the owners are amazing.

I’m holding back on four stars because I have only had lunch here so far. Last week my girlfriend and I had lunch here and each ordered salads and shared a pasta dish, Penne w/sausage. I don’t think the Penne was homemade but that seems to be a lunch thing and not the rule for dinner. Our salads were Amazing! Interesting ingredients that worked so well together with heaping portions of mesculun. Our waitress was very personable and the women’s restroom was very clean. Always a good sign in my book. Looking forward to dinner soon!

Above average food, but very small and close seating. I am always uncomfortable having the other table in my face.

Yikes. Food, service, and atmosphere have all deteriorated badly since Andrea left to start his new place.

Divino’s is a cozy italian restaurant near downtown Sarasota which has consistently provided a good quality, tasty dinner service in a friendly environment. During the winter season it has live Jazz(singer and accompanist) on the weekends. Accepts reservations.

Everything but divine food. I’ve been really looking forward to eating at this Italian place for years but what a disappointment the food was. The staff is so very nice, the first impression is wonderful, it is a cozy place. A jazz duo created a lovely atmosphere for having an apéritif at the bar. I ordered a Campari orange and they brought it with canned orange juice! Really, in Florida. But then came the food. I ordered a salad and their homemade gnocchi’s, these I had to return at the first bite, the waiter who is very nice brought me a pasta with clams that was edible. My husband ordered a «timballo» which was good, but the lobster ravioli were heavy and dense, not delicious at all. Seriously this place is overpriced for the fare they serve, if you like Carraba’s this might be the place for you. Luckily in Sarasota we have many other alternatives for great Italian food.
