Family owned and Family run. Cute couple! Décor is great, place is clean and food is awesome! I asked a lot of questions about the menu, and ended up having them just cook whatever for us. It was amazing! MUSTTRY!!!

Wow! Read the reviews and used open table to get a table for 4. My husband I were visiting his parents in Sarasota and I thought it would be fun to try a new restaurant. Every dish was great! we had creviche mixta which was promptly devoured. The pork and lamb dishes where excellent the sauces enhanced their flavors. The other two dishes we tried were seafood rice dishes. The fried rice dish would have fed 2 people w/o appetizer. The Tacu Tacu which I order was wonderful… but HUGE. The portion fed me dinner that night, lunch and dinner the next night. The rice dishes should be considered family they do cost more than the other dishes by the portions more than make it a good value. I enjoy every bite and I know my inlaws are planning to go back with friends, there lunch special looks like a good deal And to top it all off there was live music, a very tasteful guitarist who sang some of his own songs and covers that just finished the entire experience.

What a surprisingly fab place! This converted house gives you the impression you’ve walked into someone’s dining room – I mean except for the smattering of tables. But, the food, the service and the wine are, well, there’s that trite word, fab! The cuisine is a mélange of Peruvian and Puerto Rican – maybe more – and wonderful. I can’t eat gluten so I always sit down at a new restaurant and brace myself before examining the menu or asking the server. The selections were easy for me to choose from for gluten-free. And there were many! The server was not only amiable and willing to explain the menu, she was also versed in wines and suggested just the right accompanying one. This will be one of my regular stops. Make it one of yours!

After living in Sarasota for 10 years, and continuing to visit on a regular basis, I know Sarasota needs new restaurants. Well good that there’s an alternative to the usual fare, and the overpriced Peruvian Selva Grill. Unfortunately, this place will be tough to succeed, as it’s it’s off the main strip and is only average in it’s food quality. The servers, and owners are the most pleasant, yet the food needs to be ramped up. There is a very limited seafood menu here, which is a big surprise. The prices are certainly fair, as most entrees are between $ 15 – 20. Dessert was average as well. Dinner for the two of us, including wine was $ 74. Bottom line: I do not plan to return.

Such a nice surprise. This is a Peruvian fusion restaurant in a small converted house, which doesn’t look like much from the outside, but is lovely inside! I’ve never had Peruvian food before, so I can’t vouch for its authenticity, but I can vouch for its deliciousness. I ordered the Seco de Carne and my husband ordered the Arroz con Pollo. The Seco de Carne was seasoned strips of steak which came in a sort of gravy, or sauce. I also got rice and white beans. Really good and flavorful! The only complaint I had was the cut of meat had lots of fat in it, which I had to cut around. My husband’s Arroz con Pollo was seasoned chicken with rice which was also very tasty. But the thing I couldn’t stop stealing off his plate was the most delicious side of picked onions. They were so good I couldn’t stop eating them. We each got a free bowl of chicken and vegetable soup with our lunch. I’m not normally a soup person, but this was one of the best I’ve had recently. They also have several Ceviches. There is a whole section of Fusion foods(like Peruvian/Chinese and Peruvian/Italian) that we didn’t get to try this time. I think i might order from that section next time. I feel like it’s expensive for what you get, but to be honest, I’d be happy to pay it again.

We came here for Sunday Brunch because the Breakfast House next door was beyond packed. This place just opened and we weren’t really sure what to expect. We sat outside in the courtyard where they had a great band playing some Peruvian music! They had a little brunch set up all you can eat style and they also give you a Mimosa to start on the house! Omelet station in conjunction with some traditional Spanish/Peruvian dishes made for a very unique but tasty brunch experience. There’s not a ton of variety but there’s plenty to fill you up. I can’t wait to try this place for dinner!

Authentic is the best word I can attach to this restaurant. I had heard time and time again«you have to try Canta Rana» so I tried their Sunday brunch and I’m so happy I did. The food is so authentic and so tasty. When you go this is what you can expect: Authentic food, live music, Peruvian beer, and a friendly staff tucked in a small bungalow in a random location. Canta Rana is a simple spot with simple flavors cooked as if you were sitting in Peru. The brunch was terrific and I’m happy to have finally discovered it.

I will say that I crave a certain type of food as we all do. When it comes to comfort food a plate of rice and beans will do it for me… Well, when I walked into Canta Rana it felt like I walked into someone’s house and I was not just a guest but a part of the family. I tried one comfort food after another and left only empty plates for my waiter to pick up. Go to dish: Arroz con pollo– Cilantro infused chicken and rice with Peruvian peppers. Favorite dish: Apanado– a breaded steak served with white rice and green salad. With live music on Friday and Saturday nights that makes you want to get up and dance. Canta Rana Peruvian Fusion is a must try.

Delicious! Went there for lunch and had great food. My husband got lomo saltado and I got Seco de Carne. Both were awesome. Also had a side of tostones(never can pass those up). I had an Inca Cola and my husband had a shot of pisco. The waitress was very nice. The only complaint I have is that we ordered our meals at the same time, and my husbands came out much later after I had eaten all mine.
