These shop owners are outrageously rude! We were actually planning to buy some things there, but the woman watched us constantly as we browsed the merchandise on the street table. She asked if we need help finding something, but asked with a very terse tone of voice. I felt like she just wanted us to pick anything right this second, give her the money and go away NOW. I don’t know how they keep a retail business going with absolutely zero patience for people actually shopping in their store. Apparently they have a rule where, unless you are Asian, you are not allowed to so much as read the labels on any product before you buy it. The man behind the counter actually yelled at us for picking up a package and reading the label. Of course we decided to take our business elsewhere. There are plenty of good finds in Chinatown — so no need to drop our bucks on these prejudiced clucks.

I had the same experience as Becca. The owner followed and spied on me as I looked around. Made me feel very uncomfortable. Will not be back. Ever. There are many other Chinese shops to spend my money in.

As a professional adult, I am not generally followed around stores, curtly instructed to not to touch things, or have my pockets eyed suspiciously. Although there was no problem with their merchandise, similar products were easy to find a few doors away. I am fairly certain that the message I was being given was that since I was not Asian, I was unwelcome in their store.

No drink in this food grocery store? We walked by this store, with a iced starbucks coffee in hand, were about to make a $ 20 ish purchase of snacks. Suddenly the owner pointed in a sign saying«no food or drink Sign». I immediately felt ridiculed by this act of the owner. I’ve dropped all the snacks I gathered, walked straight out the door! This is a stupid policy in a food store! My business went next door! I think this policy is stupid for a food store! and enforced by an insensitive owner! I am sure u have the right to have whatever policy u want for ur own business. But this is a first I encounter of its kind, and it drives business away!

I’ve always wanted to review this place but I never found out the name of it. They carry almost anything you need. They carry some items that you can’t find in other stores in Chinatown. You can find beverages, frozen foods, noodles, sauces, junk food, etc. in this store.

I think this may be one of the stinkiest stores in Chinatown, but its also one of the best. On a recent Chinatown food adventure — trying to shop for some exotic ingredients — this was the only place that turned up tamarind, preserved turnips, and a whale-sized bottle of fish sauce. Also got some packs of noodles and a bunch of fun sweets. Everything we needed. And everything was incredibly cheap: whale-sized fish sauce $ 1.29, a pound of tamarind $ 1.59, pack of preserved turnips $ 1.39, noodles 99 cents, lychee buiscuits 99 cents, bag of gummy candies $ 1.99… super! The prices are probably comparable to other grocery stores in Chinatown, but it’s still mindblowing when you know you’d pay $ 5 for a fraction of the fish sauce at Safeway. Plus, the adventure of poking around in the teeny shop is priceless — intreguing food items from floor to ceiling.(I know I’m speaking as a total outsider — practically a tourist in Chinatown — but it was exciting and interesting.) Loved the novelty of shopping for strange and wonderful things here and will definitely go back for cheap sweet treats or any Asian ingredients I am in need of.(Hopefuly I won’t be requiring any dried oysters though. That bucket on the front counter looks almost indecent.)
