Today, I wanted to try their lunch specials. I walked in at about 11:45am, ordered the Charsiu and Roasted Pork Belly(SiewYoke). As I was struggling with placing my order in Cantonese, the meat cutter graciously clarified my order in English. When he learned that I was eating in, he invited me to sit at a corner, 2 top table. Within minutes, a lady brought me tea and hot carrot and potato soup. When I thanked her in Cantonese, she beamed and chuckled in surprise. The soup was simple and something warm and wet to help the meal slide down, I suppose. But I did enjoy the tea immensely. Then, a gargantuan platter of charsiu, roasted pork belly, cabbage and rice was brought to my table. I was truly surprised at the size of the portion after reading the negative reviews of this place. The charsiu was slick with reduced marinade and had nice bits of char balancing the sweet. It was tender and moist. The roasted pork belly had a thin, bacon like crackling, was also tender, juicy, and seasoned just right. The cabbage had bite to it still, tasting like it was quickly stir-fried. The rice was fluffy and hot. I paid the $ 8 at the end of the meal, and the cashier was kind enough to give me the total in English. Based on this experience, I cannot fathom how this dive gets such horrid reviews. I have upgraded my rating to 4 stars! I will return for a ‘three treasures’ plate adding roasted duck breast to my meal! ADDENDUM6/19/2016 – I came back and got the Three Treasures for $ 10. He asked me if I wanted fatty or lean roasted pork. I opted for lean, and it was snappy crackling capping juicy, tender flesh. The duck was a bit fatty under the skin but had lobes of lean breast. It was practically gushing with juice. Charsiu was once again spot on with charred bits and honey like glaze coating firm fragrant meat. While waiting, I watched various customers order take out. An English speaking customer was surprised that the meat cutter wanted to know if she preferred fatty or lean roasted pork belly and explained the difference in price. He was patient as she made her choice. Another chinese speaking customer responded in surprise to the cost of her order. The meat cutter itemized the order, then the customer requested a smaller portion. The meat cutter asked if she preferred the lean or fatty side, then trimmed it. He reconfirmed the price. When she was satisfied, he bagged it and passed it to the cashier. There is certainly a language barrier if you can’t speak Cantonese(like me). But there is often someone handy to help with translation. If you have some idea about what you want, and are polite and patient; I am now confident that there will be no frustration or surprise – some customers simply point to the various items in the display case, then say one or two English words to get their order. For that, I have upgraded their rating to 5 stars.

One of the best Chinese BBQ in the bay. Their BBQ porks, soy sauce chickens, and roast ducks are awesome.

One of the meat cutter is very dishonest. I went in to get some roast pork today. He gave me a huge end piece and still tried to put in couple loose pieces, so he can charge me more. Be aware of the older meat cutter. Bad bad bad…

The 1 star is not for the food but for the 2 dishonest employees. This place is one of the few authentic Chinese restaurants in the area but unfortunately, one of the meat cutter and one of the server are dishonest. As evident through numerous other reviews about this dishonesty. One of the cutter is Chinese guy in his 40’s and the woman server is also Chinese in her 40’s. They would always over charge you on items especially the cooked food items where you pay by the pound. If you do not look at the weigh when they do it, they will most likely over charge you by $ 1-$ 3. Don’t believe me? Go try it. One time I even caught that guy look at me before he said the price out loud after weighing it so to see if I was paying attention to the weigh. One day the same size box of cooked food is $ 5 and the next is $ 3 more? lol. This is not being cheap, it’s principle. This is not how you do business. Also, they would definitely pull this on you if you are not Asian or not an older Asian OG. If he sees that you are a ABC, American Born Chinese, he will pull this on you. Unfortunately for him, I am a hybrid. I am an ABC with old school Chinese values and one that speaks Taishanese and Cantonese fluently, thanks to my dad. Avoid the Asian meat cutter guy if possible. He is about 5′ 7″ and in his 40’s. Also the Asian woman that usually handles the cash is about the same height and age. They are slick with their mouth but bad with their intentions. Lately though the owner, an Asian woman in her 50’s has been working there, try to go to her, she is more honest. The older meat cutter that used to work here has moved on to the Top’s Café up the block, maybe because he knows about the dishonesty. Good for him. Top’s Café’s is Wing Hing’s #1 competition and Top’s is taking customers away every day. Bottom line is, this is not a good practice in business and in general. I hope they change and/or hire more honest employees.

Neighborhood locals. We love this place. My family swears by this place. Every event, party, or celebration in the past 10 years, we get orders in bulk from Wing Hing. GREAT Chow Mein, great fried chicken, great beef & broccoli. Friendly staff, amazing food. One of the best hole-in-the-walls in San Francisco.

I have a love hate relationship with this place. Its close to home and have some decent BBQ items. But they have been not fair and a hit or miss on the prices. As some reviewers have stated if you are a woman or elderly you’ll get less quality meat. I’ve seen this happen to myself and other customers. Why are we still living at this dark ages? Come to think how old fashion this is you won’t be surprise. Discrimination on gender and age against your own people, come on! The lady cashier have always be sly; I’ve order the same chow fun different times and have been charge different prices. So I’ve stop ordering take out. If you want only a lb. of BBQ they would usually give you 1.5 or 1.75 ib so I usually under order and don’t argue with them which is a standard practice is most BBQ places. I never order from the menu anymore and only when I’ve a sudden urge to get a little something then I would think of ordering from them. I guess if you a young male customer you would love them.

I’v been this place many times and I always order same item. Each time when I order the food, the lady(owner) charge different price. When I asker her why she over charge ever time when I order the same item? She just say“Sorry”

All always walk past this place, so I decided to give it a try. walking in the guy who work behind the counter with the meat was arguing with a customer. Went in and waited until someone who took my order. Order the bbq pork fried rice and the sesame chicken. waited for a while for the food to come out. The place was ok in term of cleanliness. The floor was not clean at all. It have a weird scum layer. The portion of the food was huge.

I really liked this place for getting a cheap fixing of HK barbecue plates. A couple of years ago when I worked in the city, I would always go here for lunch if I had a project site in the area. I always find the staff here to be very pleasant compared to other similar places, though that doesn’t really say much haha. I will say that the staff are far nicer to people who speak Cantonese, since there were a few times when I went here and the waitresses were very neutral with the English speakers but were pretty nice to me. The meat here is very tasty, probably some of the best I’ve had outside of HK. My favorite items are roasted duck and pork. The duck in particular is super delicious and you can ask them to give you fattier pieces if you like. I like that they serve you a bowl of soup too(not a lot of places I go to do that). And you can always just order a box of meat to go and bring it home for dinner(the amount they give you can feed a family or last a few days). Parking will be a pain though, since there is hardly any street parking on San Bruno itself and the residential parking will be just as packed.

This is the kind of place I would never remember to review if I hadn’t bookmarked it. I didn’t even know what it was when I saw the name but remembered I called in for pick up one day. Cheap, close to my place, and surprisingly good service on the phone. Its always a gamble when you call these hole in the wall Chinese places because most of the time they are super rude and can’t speak English. The lady was very nice though! Ordered seafood chow mien for my grandpa and it was only like $ 8.99? Super good deal. I ate some after I got to his place and it was pretty solid! Would definitely pick up from here again versus the other Chinese places on the same street. They estimated 15 minutes but it was ready by 10!

The prices for BBQ over rice has increased a dollar more since last year of December. I did not know until my recent visit. The BBQ goods here are good. I recommend the roasted Pork, Duck, BBQ Pork and Soy sauce chicken. They will chop it up for you carefully and neatly placed into a clear square container. and add some sauce to kick it up a notch. Depending on the time you go their will be lines out the door as people buy the BBQ items for dinner. Parking is readily available on street and meter only so feed it or get ticketed.

Executive Summary: Fabulously good roast duck! Wing Hing is your typical authentic Chinese restaurant where you get food without a lot of service or ambiance. I ordered the roast duck over rice. Roast duck is a fairly standard item so how good it is is by comparison with other restaurants. One of the better roast ducks is at Kam Po in SF Chinatown. This duck is as good or better. It has a lot more flavor. Where the portions can be a bit smaller in Chinatown(usually along with $ 1 lower price) for the $ 7 that the dish cost at Wing Hing it was a great value because you got a generous amount of duck. A good complimentary soup was also served, which made it an even better value. In the coming weeks I hope to try out their other dishes, but for now the duck alone is reason enough to eat here.

A dive that throws out some of the oldest most amazing old school Hong Kong BBQ in SF. Little greasy joint but mam is this food great. The roast pork, beef stew yellow chicken and all the other usual suspects I.e. Oyster Broccoli and chow fun and not american chow fun either. and you can’t beat the $…if you cannot stand an old school, non pretentious place then it is your loss for sure. But if you want some great food from a staff of over 35 years then its worth the travel and waiting in line.

I came in here in search of roast pork, because this is where my relatives would often get it years ago. I saw a nice roast pork hanging and they were helping the gentleman in front of me. They obviously knew him and were joking with him, and I saw then cutting straight from the fresh roast pig itself. I was so excited to be ordering this. When it came to my turn, I requested a pound of roast pork($ 7.50/lb). He grabbed a piece that was already cut and asked if that piece looked good to me and showed me the insides. I don’t order roast pork too often so I gave him the benefit of the doubt and said sure… He then cut a generous amount of pork that was ~1.4 lbs and ended up costing ~$ 10.50. That is a lot more than I wanted to eat. Once I brought it home, I can see that it was definitely not a choice piece. The roast skin was not crunchy – it was stale and chewy. And it just didn’t taste the same as when my relatives get it – the flavor was a bit off and it was overly salty and dry. I felt like I was ripped off. I know it wasn’t a miscommunication because I even spoke their language down to their dialect. Then of course I go onto Unilocal and read that this didn’t just happen to me, and that they tend to take advantage of women and elderly. That makes sense since the gentleman in front of me had no problem getting the freshest cut possible. They were fussing over him and his choice cuts for so long that they were still helping him even after I paid and left the store. I should have just gotten my pork somewhere else. I’m never coming back.

Just for the duck! When I lived in the area, my access to roasted duck was easy. And we usually get it here. Roasted and then deep fry it at home for added crispiness. Duck — $ 15. Satisfied craving — priceless!!!

I was searching for some Chinese food in the area but most places were either closed on Sunday morning or had long lines(dim sum places). Noticed the hanging roast ducks and BBQ pork in the window and decided to give this place a try. Usually a place like this means good greasy Chinese food. Sat down and ordered a roast duck wonton noodle soup and a bbq pork and soy sauce chicken over rice. Both were very good. I will definitely come back again.

I’m a big fan of «divey» places! This would be considered«divey!» If you are not comfortable dining in a not so glamorous place, this is not for you. I have purchased their roast duck here several times before and remember them to have the olé style recipe. It did not disappoint me as when I got home after ordering to go, it taste the same as the last time I was here. It is a bit more fattening than the newer recipe from other Chinese restaurant, but I just love this recipe. I also ordered their Chicken Salty Fish Fried Rice. If you don’t know what this is, it is «stinky» smelling fish that if you are not accustomed to eating it, don’t order it. I of course eat everything so this would be my favorite Chinese fried rice ever! I’ve dined here before mostly for lunch. It is not the cleanest and sometimes when they are super busy, you have to share a roundtable with a bunch of strangers. Of course, if you’ve ever traveled to Asia that is nothing new! If you are looking for a flavorful Roast Duck and to go items quick and easy meals, come here. They will get you in and out fast and friendly service! PS — plenty of street parking here and try to park on San Bruno Ave. Avoid parking at that lot right next to Walgreens. Plenty of cars have been broken into in broad daylight! Cheers ~
