My sushi spot for 15 years and counting. Miso, tempura, eel and sake — all superb. Quiet setting, attentive service, wonderful family operation. My gal loved it.

This place is the real deal: delicious sushi at a reasonable price, great location in the Mission, and friendly staff and owners. It’s a nice place to stray from the regular sushi staples, especially if you want to explore new vegetarian options — try the takuan(pickles) or the enoki mushroom nigiri. And of course, the best brown rice I’ve ever tasted(they cook it with azuki beans).

This is one of the last sushi restaurants in SF still run by a Japanese owner, and it is not too expensive! The fish is always fresh and you get a free miso soup. It reminds me of the low cost sushi places I went to in Tokyo: taste great and good value.

I walked into this dim, quiet, skinny restaurant that was well adorned with Japanese traditional artwork not knowing what to expect. I’m going to grade this place not based on comparison to the higher end Japanese restaurants and Izakayas I have visited, but on what it is — a small, half shopfront in an average strip of stores. The first thing I experienced was a super friendly greeting from the happy staff. Next, I saw how decently priced it was in comparison to the majority of Japanese joints in San Francisco. The tables slowly filled with people who were obviously in the know — who knew this place is a hidden gem. The menu is short. This is good. Greater emphasis on fewer dishes is a recipe for great quality and consistency. Free miso soup. Affordable Sake. The Nigiri is freshly hand cut, thicker than most contemporary Japanese restaurants though the fish was of such a high grade it only added to the enjoyment of eating it. I can vouch for the incredible cuts of Salmon, Yellowtail, Shrimp and Tuna. The rolls are skinny but carefully prepared. 100% would be a regular visitor if I lived on this side of the globe.

Relatively nice sized sushi restaurant in The Mission. I was kind of disappointed the sushi chefs didn’t belt out a friendly welcoming greeting in Japanese when I entered with my friend. The greeting and demeanor of the sushi chefs is what adds to the sushi experience. Service was friendly and fast. The tuna and hamachi nigiri were just okay. The spicy tuna roll was odd and I think had canned tuna in it, as the fish itself was a cooked opaque color, as opposed to a raw red. None of the fish tasted fishy and was decent. Nothing really to get hyped up about here unfortunately.

Love this place! It’s a new found weekly regular. Delicious and fresh with a very different but delicious menu. They have options for sushi I have never seen but absolutely love the basicness to their roles. Simple and to the point. Cora is also a wonderful server and is always very happy and plesent! She has some of the greatest services I have experienced. Please try this place out if you already haven’t.

One of my favorite sushi place in the city. It’s affordable and their rolls are delicious. I hate sushi places that have the imitation crab in their california rolls, you know, the one that is one piece and looks like rubber. Well, this place uses the fresh ones. The miso soup is so savory. love this place

Decent sushi and average price. Free miso soup, so that’s always a plus. Apparently there are TWO We Be Sushi restaurants, with different owners, just blocks away from each other. If you’re meeting friends, make sure you clarify which one!

This is definitely my favorite sushi place. The first time I visited here was just by chance. I was waiting in a long line for the place next door and couldn’t stand it anymore. So my friend and I decided to give this place a go. I love the service here. The whole staff is always so kind and welcoming. I always come here on my birthday every year and 2 of the servers remember! Everything is so fresh here. The best thing by far here is the fried Rock N Roll. I actually usually hate rolls that are fried at most places but this one is perfect. I also love love love the Nasu Roll. The eggplant is grilled perfectly. I also love their miso soup. Its different from all of the other japanese food places I’ve been to!

Stopped by here for second dinner because one dinner is just not enough on some days: P Because you have so many other options in this area of the mission, I recommend you go somewhere else. Definitely nowhere close to sushi i’d describe as «good sushi,» but if you’re starving and there really isn’t anything else to eat(completely untrue for this neighborhood), you probably won’t be too happy with this place. With that said, they are more reasonably priced than many other places in the area unless you’re going for tacos(which are amazing! Head over to taqueria Cancun!)

I really enjoyed his place and don’t get why — in a city where every meal costs over $ 12 in the mission — you could knock affordable quality food with good service. We enjoyed the mellow atmosphere, free miso soups, quick and kind service, and good sushi. It was kind of a no frills such I spot with just basic 6 roll salmon and avocado, good unagi and tempura prawn. I would definitely go back next time I get that sushi hankering.

Out for a quick dinner in the mission, we chose to have a little sushi here. It’s bigger than it looks, with more seating in the back. The pricing is good and they have a decent selection of sushi and rolls. Nothing crazy, mind you, but all the classics. The fish is fresh and has nice flavor. The service was also pretty good and we had a nice time. We’ll check it out again.

I came to We Be Sushi last night with my friend. We were walking up & down Valencia and stopped in randomly to eat dinner. I did not check this place on Unilocal before I walked in, so it was a complete random decision. We walked in, and the restaurant was half packed. Pretty small place, dim lighting, friendly service. The lady seated us and brought us water. The menu had your usual Sushi choices. Nothing interesting, nothing terrible. I ordered the Dragon Roll. The man who works here is a bit awkward. He did not understand my order that well and I had to repeat a few times. He also was a bit awkward about cleaning out the plates. He would stand by the table and not really know when we were done so he’d pick up the plates and then ask«OHAREYOUDONE?» You should ask that before picking up the plates. They also played pretty weird music in here. It was ambient synth type of music. I didn’t really see it fitting with the atmosphere and found it amusing. Same with the paintings. No Japanese style decorations. Paintings of children playing at the beach which I also found very amusing. The Dragon Roll was okay. Definitely not the best I have had, it was very mediocre. Not trying to sound like a rich bitch, but the water didn’t taste fresh and I could almost taste chemicals in it??? It was strange. Anyway solid 3 stars. Nothing special, probably won’t be back, but wouldn’t mind if I had to.

I’ve walked by we be sushi so many times but never entered because it didn’t look authentic or particularly innovative. As expected, the sushi is standard but not outstanding. Edamame was bland but this seems more like a place you come for sake bombs and rolls than edamame or sashimi. They have sake and beer and service is friendly and quick — no wait at 7 on Sunday for a party of 6! I would definitely return with a large group.

A Japanese restaurant with blasting Reggae music? Yes please! I stumbled over this place recently, when I was actually looking for another restaurant. They had just opened the door and it was just me and another customer. I ordered my standard sushi fare(hamachi maki, Saba nigiri and ikura nigiri). Fish was very fresh and rice was well seasoned, not too sweet, not too sour, just right. No fancy combinations are found on the menu, but that’s exactly how I like it. Nothing worse than yucky mayo sauces on my beloved sushi!!! The service was very pleasant. Yes, the waitress was chatty, but knew a lot about the food and after I had admired the fried prawns on the other guy’s table, she offered me to get me one to try for myself — no charge! Also, I saw how respectful she treated the older Japanese sushi master, I really liked her kind gestures. I don’t get into this area of town that often, but I will definitely try to be back.

We Be Sushi, your name is super ghetto but your food is not. Pricing: Honestly, the fact that the food is priced so reasonably compared to all the other Japanese spots in the city is enough to make me give this place a solid 3 stars. But, We Be hits that 4th one with their awesome service~! Service: Honest, authentic, warm, and friendly. I really felt at home in this joint, it was an awesome place to grab lunch and I can’t wait to come back. I totally hope to become a regular at this spot! Vibe/Atmosphere: Truly his place is more homey than the usual hipster mission joint. Some of the staff were speaking Japanese, and the menu was fairly simple, which makes me think this place is pretty authentic. However, it definitely projects a fusion of cultures: they were rocking out to mexican tunes and they had a few american style rolls. My only criticism is about the Sashimi cuts. The fish was fresh, which, obviously is important. However, the way the fish was cut seemed sloppy or that there was lack of skill. Many of the cuts were not thick enough to fully enjoy the texture of the fish– but I am pretty picky, so if you are not, go for it!
