We were staying at a hotel around the corner from this little gem. Not a very big place, only four tables. However, their pastries are top notch. Delicious cappuccino, croissants and muffins.

Amazing place! Bread is so fresh! Sandwiches are super good and filling! Their croissants melted ham and cheese are great! I eat them every morning on my way to work! The pastries are also delicious! The owner is very sweet:) I seriously think it’s one of the best places to have breakfast or lunch around the Wharf.

Avoid this place at all costs. I didn’t know coffee could be this bad. I was in desperate need of an espresso and this place seemed cute enough. When I walked in, the woman seemed to not understand what I was asking for«espresso, please?» was not in her vocabulary. A man came from the back to offer assistance and looked like he was a hobo off the street. He was disheveled, his eyes were glassy and made the entire transaction feel like he shouldn’t be bothered with making me coffee. I thanked him for the espresso and proceeded to drink it. It tasted like it was made with reused burnt coffee grounds. It was so bad I couldn’t finish it. It makes me wonder how places like this stay open.

Deceptively charming. Pastries look incredible but taste otherwise. We tried chocolate, strawberry, blueberry Danishes(all horrible dry tuff crust and even the kids would not finish) and hot ham and cheese(this was actually good). Be careful of the sweet talking old man who asks that you only pay in cash. He purposely insisted to hand my change to my son. We later found out he shorted us $ 5 in change. Frustrating but a good life lesson to teach my kids of ALWAYS to check your change.

Absolutely no customer service! Did not acknowledge our existence by greeting, no hint of a smile throughout the transaction. If I was alone, I would have kept walking. Got some coffee, not very good, pastries were ok. Will not be back.

Incredible selection of baked goods and pastries. I have never seen croissants this big. Great experience.

These people are so RUDE. I used to work in the office building across the street from the Waterfront Bakery, so I would pass by it almost daily. One day about 9 months back, I figured I’d give them a try for lunch. As I walked in, the older man and a younger one behind the counter glared at me with open hostility. I was offered no greeting, not even a smile. As I read the menu, the two men continued to give me the stinkeye. Feeling offended and slightly uncomfortable under their scrutinizing gaze, I loudly proclaimed, «Forget it!» and left. What did I do to deserve such treatment? Those two were acting like I killed their dirty, flea-bitten cat-lovechild. There are better places to get an overpriced sandwich at Fisherman’s Wharf, places where you’re NOT met with a malevolent gaze. Pass!

I keep coming back to this place. The turkey sandwich with sourdough roll was so good.

Was around the area and hungry before cycling the Bridge. Most of the food in the area is seafood but I had a craving for a beef sandwich and pickle. This place was perfect! The sandwich was exactly what I wanted and totally hit the spot :)

Great food! I had a bagel with cream cheese, it was good. Service was friendly although there’s limited seating. Very convient location, I’d go back again

Pastries were just OK, not particularly fresh or special. The owner was extremely rude and insulting. I was totally taken aback at how horrible he treats his customers. If you do decide to go here(I urge you not to, we’ll never be returning!) be aware they’re a cash only establishment and you will be treated very poorly. This is the first time I’ve ever bothered to write a review but seeing how this place somehow had a good rating I felt compelled to add my voice to the others that have stated that the customer service here is abysmal. Give your money to the countless other bakeries in the city that wont treat you like trash.

Agree with previous reviews that this place has high standards(minus the supposed owner wearing a button down shirt with sweatpants because he thinks people don’t see his pants behind the counter). My palmier was delicious. And the atmosphere clean and authentic. Sweatpant-wearing owner guy was a little grouchy but that only adds to the European(should I specify… French) authenticity of this amazing bakery.

Nice spot for coffee and pastry near fisherman’s wharf. No doubt aimed for tourists which is no surprise. The coffee was excellent but the pastry seemed a bit stale. They were very good maybe made from breakfast since we got in for a late lunch snack. Cute atmosphere but small.

Quaint bakery with a European feel. Shared a ham and cheese croissant and a chocolate croissant and both were delightful!

I worked in The Cannery for the better part of the first year I lived in SF. Admittedly, I was playing the«see how many hours I can spend in the office until I go bonkers”-game. Not liking to lose, I worked through most lunches and breaks(my choice) and rarely went far for lunch. I didn’t seek out Waterfront Bakery, I ended up there by default. It was a lucky find. Waterfront Bakery offers pastries, breads, coffee and awesome sandwiches. I used to get their ham or turkey sandwich when I snuck away for 20 minutes. It’s a great sandwich — good quality bread, fresh meats and veggies. They do a sliced cucumber that they cut into cubed sticks. I’ll get a photo, but I really think these make the sandwich. The sandwiches are substantial. I ate half frequently and saved the rest for later. They also have delicious Ham and Cheese Croissants, which they can warm up in a press. Since the ingredients are A) Great and B) Three of my favorite ingredients … It’s a winner. The coffee selection is full of the standard fare, and everything I’ve had has been good. They also have bread for purchase, which I have never done. Bit looks good. Brass-Tacks: Classy little place. Small and hidden, a clearly the standards are high. The service is good, although a little on the laconic side. I’ll trade quality for social effusivity. The space to eat inside is limited to a handful of tables, but the have an equal number outside as well. It’s a cool little place to have a quiet bite or cup of coffee. One last note: The prices are VERY reasonable for the quality.

Great little place for a REALLY fresh sandwich on fresh bread and a cappuccino. Just off the main strip, with shady outside seating for 2 or 3. Seems like a secret.

French connection. Decades ago: Decades in business: 22 years apparently. Probably because they serve excellent sugar free vanilla Americanos andéclairs. Smooth, potent and just $ 3 for the former. Chocolaty, indulgent and less of a deal at $ 5 for the latter. Service is not exactly friendly but professional and focused. Hard to believe it’s almost six years since originally visiting for a five star sandwich. Hard to believe it took me almost twenty years to see the five star Before Sunrise. Connection made.

Had a ham and cheese croissant and a sticky bun. The ham and cheese were perfectly heated and the sticky bun was not too messy. We sat outside and drank some cappuccinos. The atmosphere was great with some French jazz music and a nice cool morning. Stop in here for a half hour and you won’t be sorry.
