Hmmm didn’t know what to expect coming here. Seen it every morning on my way to work. The place didn’t look to bad but not fancy. I was surprised to see an Asian lady take my order(the place is called Viking Subs) and make my sandwich. I was expecting an Italian or a Bronx kinda person. I was already in it all the way so I ordered the turkey sandwich. She made it quickly(I was the only customer) she asked me what size I liked and if I wanted yellow or white cheese(yes she called it by the color). I said yellow. I asked for avocado(extra) and extra lettuce with light mayo. I don’t think she cared how I wanted it. She just made it however she always makes it I think. The sandwich was skimpy on the fixins and the cheese tasted like kraft singles slices yuk! For a sandwich shop they only had one kind of bread(french roll). Would I go here again? Nope. Should you? If u want mediocre food at a ok price. Pros– It was fast and cheap and filled my stomach. Cons– lack of customizing, poor listening, kraft singles. I’m just going to get my sandwiches where I always get them Little Luccas.

The chicken teriyaki sandwiches are the best!!! I have been coming here for over 10 years. They are very quick in making the sandwiches and the taste of the sandwiches are out of this world!

Place is filthy. Can’t comment on the sandwiches because I actually walked out. Even the register and counter are covered in grease and dirt. No thanks.

If you’re looking for a simple, down to earth, no fuss no muss type sandwich then Viking’s the place. Yes, the meat is a bit skimpy but the flavors are there. You can also add more meat for $ 1.50.

Used to come to Vikings all the time back in the day and recently decided to give them a try again. The teriyaki sandwiches are still delicious, but the sub could use a bit more meat. Def felt like it was more bread than filling. Also I wish they had cheddar cheese or pepper jack, but provolone was good just no American cheese I really don’t like fake cheese…

Had to go to the library to drop off some DVDs and forgot that Viking Submarine Sandwiches is right across the street. I recall reading decent reviews about the place, so thought we’d give it a shot. The décor is ok, although it could probably use a little sprucing up. There was an Asian counter woman with what looked like her son manning the meat slicing in back. Their sandwich prices are a little on the cheaper side, but I wish that the sandwiches we received showed a little more love in em. My small pastrami sandwich was toasted nicely, but there were only a few slices of actual pastrami in it. I could eat ¼ of the sandwich and still not get to any meat. *sad face* My wife’s roast beef and our daughter’s salami were treated the same. Still, prices ARE cheaper than our usual submarine sandwich place — Submarine Center on Ulloa. Maybe if you are on the student college budget, Viking’s will satisfy your cravings and keep $$ in your pocket. However, in the end, I think the extra cost at Submarine Center is worth the trip.

My bf kept raving about Vikings Sandwiches during his high school days and we finally were in the neighborhood to go back. The Chicken Teriyaki sandwich is great. The bread is toasted nicely, the provolone cheese is melted and the sandwich will leave you feeling full. I always order the chicken teriyaki! The fries are decent too, but I wish they gave you more. While yes, the restaurant itself is old, dirty, the tables are sticky and the occasional fly is flying around, you can always take the sandwich home. I suggest giving the chicken teriyaki sandwich a try if you’re in Ingleside. CASHONLY!!!

If you like roach sandwiches then please come on down. Not the most n sanitary of places. I have seen pigeons hanging out here and countless bugs inside. How this has not been. fixed is beyond me. This is all just unacceptable to me. Clean up the shop and then you can maybe have me back as a c customer.

Parking can be a little difficult. My favorite for a beef teriyaki sandwich. Huge long and tasty. Buy their French fries too because they’re awesome fries. The chicken teriyaki is great also. Any sandwich I get I always ask for grilled onions also. One last thing you can get the beef or chicken teriyaki over rice if you prefer that option.

I’m not one to leave negative reviews, especially for neighborhood restaurants, but my first experience here was hurried and the ambivalence with which I was met by the staff was completely unwarranted. This corner sandwich shop in Ingleside was one I’d hoped would be a new favorite since I live right down the street, yet when I walked into its empty dining area, both the cashier and the cook seemed quick to get me in and out. Why the rush? I’d like to look at the menu before asked, «What do you want?» I ordered a pastrami sandwich, which was light on the meat and low on flavor, not to mention the Swiss cheese I asked for more closely resembled processed white American cheese. Mere seconds into my order the cook began slathering copious amounts of mayonnaise on the bread before I could share with him my genuine hatred of this particular condiment. When I told him, «Sorry I don’t like mayonnaise.» He replied, «You’re going to eat a sandwich without mayonnaise?» After explaining that I didn’t want it, he seemed aggravated to say the least, and reluctantly replaced my bread. Not before telling me, «You need to tell me first, next time.» Most places ask for your final order, make sure you don’t want anything else, and double check to make sure your order is accurate. Pretty standard. I’m not sure why this shop is in such a hurry to get its customers in and out. They should take more time to build a rapport, since most of their clients will likely be from the neighborhood. Sorry to say I won’t be back.

Well… the only real plus is that its closer to CCSF than Roxies is. The workers are nice to nice at times. The sandwiches however aren’t so nice. They are filling but most of the people should say that they ate at a better sandwich place than this. Pastrami sandwich: Not spectacular quality and the pastrami isn’t that flavorful or super fresh but its okay. I honestly would prefer a subways pastrami sandwhich than here which goes to show the quality and abundance of ingredients or lack thereof.

The sandwich I got was pretty much something I could make at home… and they were fairly short with me. in fact when i got home i added a few ingredients to my sandwich to make it more substantial of a meal. Long story short there is better.

I am spoiled by Ike’s sandwiches and Submarine sandwiches out in west portal :( Came here to pick up some sandwiches to go for lunch. I ordered a standard roast beef sando and ordered an Italian sub for my bf. Ordering and waiting for the subs to be ready was all fine but when we got back home and started to pig out on our sandos, they were just ok. Nothing amazing but just ok subs in my opinion.

I always drive by this place, but finally stopped off last weekend. Grabbed their signature large Mighty Viking. Turkey, ham, I chose cheddar cheese, a fair amount of mayo, lettuce, and tomato. Tasty and cheap, but pretty standard for a sub. I’d be curious to try their BBQ or something more exotic, but I’m not probably not going to go out of my way for this place.

Plundered. Lunch at 4pm is like finding buried treasure. Ravenous excitement whether it’s gold or a meal. In this case a «small» $ 6 chicken teriyaki sandwich on a roll was the loot. In no time it was gone and this had nothing to do with the size. Rather large for a small and rather satisfying. Just wish there has been more teriyaki flavor and less oil. From other Unilocalers the owners have been around for quite some time and serve up their offerings with a bit of a small and a lot of no nonsense. Worth finding once but don’t need to hunt this one down again.

Vikings sure does know how to make a mean sandwich. The thinly sliced meats. The fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. The crispy bread. And their amazing sauce. What’s not to love?! They even have options for non meat lovers! The only downside is that they’re cash only. So if you don’t have any cash on you… find an atm or bank, withdraw some money and get yourself a well deserved sandwich. Or im pretty sure a great friend can treat you out for lunch!

The assorted cheese sub with everything(not including jalapeños) for $ 7.99(cash only) is *delicious* — this is the only one I get since I’m a vegetarian; therefore I can’t speak for any of the other sandwiches. I’ve been to this location several times as well as the one on Lombard Street. A simple sandwich but the combination of it being toasted + quality of the bread and«toppings»(melted cheeses & crunchy veggies) = YUMMY! Though there aren’t too many veggies, it’s still a great sub. Again, cash only. The one minor complaint I have is that their hours of operation vary unexpectedly at times… I’ve been disappointed at least three times when I came to find out they were closed(despite during regular hours) — thus leaving my cravings unmet. SMH.

I would’ve liked more lettuce and meat in my sandwich, but I don’t mind that it’s so simple. What bothered me a little more was the amount of rice they gave for my beef teriyaki. Ratio is super important, so having more meat than rice is a no-no. After finishing my rice, I still had more than half of the beef teriyaki left. Eating it by itself would be too brackish for me, so I had no choice but to order more rice for $ 1 something. I could have just made rice at home, but the point of eating out is to not have to cook. Well, I guess I won’t be back.
