First time here since they took over for the pizza house. The gal working there is friendly and the pizza was excellent! I will definitely be back again.

Came in while doing laundry to check the place out, the sign saying it was under new management. I was greeted by Waen, the cheerful owner, who promised to impress me with a specialty«breakfast for dinner» pizza. Having an Italian mom, I have a high standard for my pizza and was skeptical that I would enjoy my pie. Let me tell you, there was nothing left when I was finished. The pizza was thin crust like I asked, with light cheese and sauce, fresh basil, bacon and eggs. On the side the owner put two different dipping sauces for my crust. One was fresh pesto from her friend’s garden and one was a house special chili infused olive oil that had me wanting more crust just to dip! Im a sucker for a good hot oil! There were a good selection of drinks without sugar, which for me is a must. I chose the black cherry sparkling water. That, along with a fresh picked Kumquat from the Kumquat tree for dessert was a perfect digestif that satisfied my sweet tooth after the meal. The pizza came out fast and I was able to finish eating and get back to my laundry just in time for it to be dry. Perfect spot to grab a quick fresh slice(as all slices are made fresh) and be on the go. It is a small shop with seating for maybe 10 people and they offer delivery to the neighborhood. I will definitely come back to this place!

This place got a new menu and it’s pretty exotic with curry pizza to breakfast style topping and their very own kumquat tree with fresh fruit and shrimp chips while you wait. Personally I like the BBQ chicken pizza and its the right amount of crispy. Service is nice and its like going to your favorite bar but with pizza, chill vibe and delicious food

Wow!!! I just tried this new pizza place. It has traditional pizza, pasta and salads but also ASIAN fusion style pizza. Today I tried the new owners Thai basil chicken. I’ve never had this before and it was truly amazing. What a treat, next time I’m going to try the red curry and green curry… So different but I’m looking forward to trying it. Today I got traditional cheese and pepperoni for the kids, chicken wings(sweet and sour sauce with crispy basil) with the Thai basil chicken. I really like how this new place kept the old menu from«The pizza house» and added their new taste as well. Very pleased with the service and food!!!

I ordered pizza from here via Grub Hub. I thought the pizza was really great. It was also delivered very quickly. I’m a fan… I’ll order here again.

Okay, I have had pizza from the former owner and manager, and someone’s review described it perfectly! It was described as mediocre, and it was just that! Now that new managers have taken over, and with a banging new online menu and everything, I have ordered from them twice, and both times the pizza and food was fantastic, and consistent! Whenever I don’t want to cook, or don’t know what to cook, we have food delivered from Monterey Pizza. Their thin crust is to die for with fantastic toppings to boot! What more could you want! If you tried Monterey Pizza before and were disappointed, I invite you to try it again, under new ownership and management. I think you will be very surprised!!!

Ordered a pizza from there tonight and I was not impressed. My boyfriend and I were thinking pizza and we just got a flyer from them and we thought let’s try it. It’s right down the street and let’s see. First…the breadsticks are dreadful. Flat and overcooked. Second…the extra large pizza we ordered was held sideways so most of the toppings were slid off. And grease was all over the box. I realize that pizza is greasy but the pizza was swimming in it. One bright note… the two liter of coke was fine. Just like it always is… delicious and refreshing! There goes $ 30 dollars that I will never see. I guess I will be ordering from Mozzerella di buffala next time, like we always do. Oh well… fool me once… my fault. Won’t be fooled again!

If your desperate for pizza, maybe. This place has changed owners so many times ove the last decade, and for the worse. One time they had no napkins whatsoever, and at one point they«remodeled» but ended up miraculously making the place look significantly worse than ever before. There’s better pizza just down the street at Glen Park.

I’ll have a large soggy pepperoni pizza w/extra pubes please! I don’t know how some of you folks keep going back… just save yourself the trouble and go to red sea pizza. much better quality and they have slices too and are open late.

I’ve lived in the neighborhood for years and have always been more of a West Portal restaurant fan but recently my friends and I put Mozzarella de Buffula and this place to a head-to-head. Surprisingly, most of us liked the more rustic taste of Monterey Pizza. I’ve always enjoyed de Buffala’s pesto anything slices put to the test against this one and Monterey’s dough was a bit more like a rustic bread than a bread roll. The cheese by far was everybody’s favorite from this place. It was a bit softer and more flavorful. The pesto was pretty damn good, too. Man, I’m getting hungry just writing about it. As you can see, we’ve becomes big fans of our local pizza joint. It’s definitely a pick up and go place. No real seating.

My love for pizza is not pathological, but there comes a day when I really, really want some. If I’m not willing to go all the way to Gialina(heavenly, but I digress…) my only other choice seems to be Monterey Pizza. I used to like their pies: crunchy pie-bottom, with heaps of good toppings… In fact the only thing I used to not like was the price(a bit too high). But sometime in the past year the owners changed and so did the pies and service. I’ve ordered pies twice in the past four months: The first time, I volunteered to to pick up my pie: I was at the shop in twenty minutes, only to find that my pizza hadn’t been made yet. Great. Now I had to wait twenty more minutes in that dreary little place. When the pizza came out it was unspectacular. The second time(yesterday) the pie came out on time. But the cheese was dreadful(seemingly too fatty, it all but melted away) and though the doughy pie was cooked OK, onions and peppers were too crunchy — almost raw and bitter tasting. Essentially, it seems like they now use pre-cooked pies. Oh, and has anyone seen the sausage? Cause it used to hang out on the Monterey special but has left for better-tasting pastures… I’ll be keeping an eye on this place and will be trying it again when I see new people running it.

Yea, so I just moved to the neighborhood, and I think there’s some unwritten law that says you have to have pizza on moving day. Surprisingly, this is one of the very few choices for pizza in the Sunnyside/Miraloma Park area. Unfortunately, it’s just not that good. I mean, maybe if you want a slice in a pinch, or your exhausted after a day of moving and don’t know what else to get. But the pizza is below average. They skimp on cheese and it wasn’t cooked enough for me. I might eat here again in six months after I’ve forgotten how much I don’t like this pizza.

I had a totally different experience than most Unilocalers. Then again, I base my stars on things that don’t matter to most people. At Monterey Pizza, I’m giving five stars for three reasons: 1. When I asked for no extra cheese, the guy making the pizza(owner?) asked me if I wanted any cheese at all. I was like, are you serious??? Turns out, each slice is made fresh, and the guy shared my preference for as healthy a slice as possible. He goes with soy cheese, I went with no cheese, and instead they topped the massive slice with tomatoes and spinach. Awesome. 2. #1 is an example of the über friendly service. This husband and wife team(my guess) was exceptionally friendly, which could have something to do with… 3. One of the kids hanging out in the waiting area(their children?) continuously singing the star spangled banner. A black guy came in and absolutely loved it, saying something about how her singing was inspired by Obama’s historic victory. Watching it all, you couldn’t help but agree. Fresh slice sans cheese in a patriotic atmosphere? Yes we can.

I gave this place a chance and thought it was«okay». The cheese just came right off our slices so we were left with slightly sauced slices of bread after we were forced to keep eating the cheese and toppings coming with it. The lower than average rating is due to my boyfriend’s opinion of the place; who really was unimpressed with their quality and would rather order from Round Table which is up the street on Portola.

Keeping in mind that all pizza in San Francisco sucks, this place isn’t bad. We get the Glen Park special– spinach, feta, olives, garlic etc. Generally pretty greasy, but tasty. They keep very odd hours– from as far as we can tell, they’re not open on weekends.

I can’t even give a star. Too busy to deliver so I picked it up. Granted I ordered a hamburger, but must it be soo overcooked that it has broken in half. Maybe they should have cooked the chicken sandwich like the hamburger as it was undercooked! Rude service. Bad food. Even the pizza we had, my dog even questioned it. Are there new owners? This was not bad a year ago.

Don’t order from them, as they’ve been late a number of times on weeknights! No one calls to say it’s late or what’s up?, nothing, food is watery and soggy and their onion rings was ice cold. It took almost an hour and 30 minutes to get our delivery. We could have ordered from San Jose and get it here sooner. DON’T ORDER, BADCUSTOMER, OWNERSERVICE. Bright spot, apologetic delivery guy.

Good pizza for slices or the whole pie. We live like a block from this place, so I’ve been there a few times. It’s ok to get a slice and take it across the street to Friends bar. Honestly, the pizza is fine, but not outstanding. I can say that it’s good, and I like eating it, but it is not fantastic. The service is good, the room is about as basic as it gets.
